This engine is a Perkins 6.354 cubic inches direct injection engine which replaced The larger unreliable R6. The original P6 used the famous Aeroflow combustion chambers & was 288 cubic inches & the last version of the P6 was designated 6.305 cubic inches & this uprated engine looks exactly the same apart from the CAV DPA rotary injection pump mounted horizontally which replaced the inline CAV pump fitted to the original P6.
Yeah not the P6 but the 6354. I have a 6372 the bigger bore that i'm planning on re building. It's rated 120 h.p. Does anyone know any pitfalls with this engine. It's actually a Massey Ferguson aquired engine from a combine harvester. Any information would be a great help.
No i am not from peterborough, i am from a leicestershire village called Loddington and i have been around the peterborough factory.i have been a loyal perkins fan all my life and they do make the best diesel engines in the world.
That's not a P6, it's the newer version of it. The P6 has a thotle body and a vacume controll for the injection pump. Also the injection pump is an inline one, not a rotery like on your engine. still a good engine though.
