Probably one of the most detailed, non-confusing videos I've found. Been trying to figure this out for 2 years now, but the more you watch sometimes, the more confused you become. However, you pretty much set everything in place. Now, time to start ordering items and getting to work. Thank you.

It looks very cool.... I did something similar to my house 4 years ago I put the LED's underneath the house eve. It made it look the glow effect... I am currently fixing the wires the crows got ahold of it. 👍

Loved the video. Was easy to follow and didn’t confuse, like so many others. Would it be possible to get more in-depth on how you did power injection and how you setup the zones or ports so they work together?

Great Video! The channel tracks you have used seem to be rated for indoor use. Have you had any issues with them outdoors. Not sure how cold it gets where you are but here it gets down to -30C. Any concerns about the diffuser getting brittle over time? I can't seem to find any labeled "outdoor use"

Great Video and the parts list sure helps beginners like me. One questions, you show on your drawing and talk about power induction points, did you run one power wire and just solder into the positive line at those points from the one power line?

Thanks for the video! There is a significant lack of info on power injection home run wire gauge out there. It looks like you used 18 gauge for all your home runs. I'm planning on doing the same thing but I'm worried about voltage drop with the longest run of about 80'. I might go with a 10 gauge wire for the home run and solder in a 18 gauge pig tail for the strip connection.
@DIYD_Do_It_Yourself_Dad
@DIYD_Do_It_Yourself_Dad Год назад
I didn’t have any issues with 18 gauge wire. I think 10 gauge might be a bit aggressive. Consider doing a parallel power injection with a smaller gauge wire in addition to a home run with 18 gauge.

In this video I used a software called WLED. It has effects already setup. It also has a features where you can control individual LEDs. This is a good place to start for beginners. This next holiday season I will be switching to a software called Xlights where I will have far more control.

Great video. Sorry for the dumb question, but what's the difference between the white and black 100 ft spools of wire? Black is power? and white is power and data? I'm a bit confused. Also curious on the power injection how far you went before needing to re-inject.
@DIYD_Do_It_Yourself_Dad
@DIYD_Do_It_Yourself_Dad Год назад
You got it! Black was just for power injection and white was power and data. I would say power injection should be at least every 300 leds

I've used pixels with xlights, so this isn't too much different. Now I'm tempted to do permanent. Question, do these lights go bad from time to time like pixels do? Where it won't send data down the line
@DIYD_Do_It_Yourself_Dad

I’ve heard they can but haven’t experienced it yet. The fix is just cutting out the bad pixel and replacing it or joining the remaining halves together

This is the best exterior install video I've seen so great job! I'm about to do the exact thing to our home. I didn't see the union of the channels at the peaks once you got everything done but I'm curious about something. I was going to cut mine at the angle I need to make the union look decent but I was not sure that soldering the bridge wires to go from one angle to the other at the peak would still allow the wires to be stuffed in to the channel and allow the opaque top piece to seat properly. Did that work out OK for you? I watched the video at the end and it seems that your LED's don's skip a beat at the peak so it had to be a tight fit I'm thinking. I do appreciate the video! I have all my supplies and used the same LED strings as you and I think the same channels. I was about to order solderless connectors and was researching track dimensions when I found your video so that saved me some time for sure. I'm no stranger to soldering but ya know.
@DIYD_Do_It_Yourself_Dad
@DIYD_Do_It_Yourself_Dad Год назад
Yeah the wires fit fine. There is like an inch or two gap at the top but from ground level it isn’t noticeable. I just stuffed it all in the channels and loaded it up with hot glue just in case it leaked at the peak where I joined the channels.

Isn't the IP65 LED strip that you used for indoor use only, it's water resistant but not waterproof? Are the diffusers meant to be enough to not get the strips wet?
@DIYD_Do_It_Yourself_Dad
@DIYD_Do_It_Yourself_Dad Год назад
Right the lights have a water resistant coating but the connectors are not waterproof. That’s why I soldered most of the connections. The diffusers do a great job of keeping water out but I also used silicone where the diffusers meet and at the ends as an extra precaution. I’ve removed a few of the diffusers after a storm just to check for water and they seem to be holding up nicely. So far we’ve several strong storms and no issues so far.
