I found it easier to leave the torn flap on, glue it down onto the fabric insert. Then went back and did the color compound filling. Looks better than the end result here
After looking at this demonstration I have concluded that I'm not going to get a good enough job done with this stuff. My project is a motorcycle seat for which I can remove the leather cover, so I'll just pull that off, cut a patch to fit, and use "shoe goo" and a big backing patch on the backside. This kit costs $20 but I can get a whole new cover for $100, I'm just going to get a scrap of material and fix it for pennies instead. I decided I don't need a perfect repair anyway, it's an old cover on an old bike. "Wabi Sabi".
I don't have the hardening powder either and I bought two kits. Somebody mentioned having hardening powder in there but there's none in mine. You would think if they don't include it they would update the video or mention it in the instructions.
I also was looking for that damn hardner myself. Thought the dog maybe grabbed it. Looked for 20 min. Till I read the comments. If the company's video repair looked subpar. Imagine what a first timers looks like.
Is there a method to make the finish shinier? Fixed a large hole which worked out pretty good however the finish on this product is quite 'flat' or dull. Any advice?
This stuff is absolute junk. The paper actually sticks to the leather after you get done and then you have paper stuck to it. That or it just rips it right back up. This actually looks better before you even try to do the patch matching thing just leave it on wet maybe put a little bit of heat on it with a propane torch without getting too close so it dries and let it do that then maybe damp it a little bit with one of the patch things before it's completely dry and then let it naturally dry or silicone would probably do better LOL what a bunch of junk I wouldn't waste my money if I were you. I would have been better off to glue a leather patch onto it period I wish you could post pictures of how embarrassingly ugly this was I agree with everybody don't even bother trying.
Okay everyone that is looking this up to see what’s what, this product works great, and getting a coat of paint with a “glossier” or a more “matte” finish (depending on your material) to put over this helps TONS but the demo guy in the video literally did the LAZIEST job on this and if you actually care about what you’re doing, the end result will look 1000000x better than this shit 😂😂💀
