Peroneal Tendonitis is associated with pain to the outside region of the foot and ankle following the course of the peroneal tendons. Peroneal Tendonitis is most commonly seen in people with history of ankle sprains and people with Pes Cavus, or high arch.
A stable shoe with a wide base of support is reduces the potential tendency to have the heel bone invert or turn in. A orthotic with a valgus post inside the supportive shoe will further prevent the tendency for the foot to turn in reduces tension in the Peroneal Tendon.
Visit SLO Motion Shoes for all your footwear and orthotic needs for peroneal tendonitis and many other lower extremity conditions.

What type of specialist should diagnose this type of injury? Podiatrist?

How is that person just sitting there calmly while someone touches their foot? I'm so ticklish I'd end up kicking that poor guy! Just watching that guy touching the foot is making me feel ticklish.

Just wondering. Could the pain be just unbearable to walk and after walking say for a half mile or so the pain will slowly go away almost to the point of pain free. This seems to be my problem every day lately.

If there’s a tear in the tendon, and person has no recollection of an injury, except decades before, in childhood when ankle was injured ice skating, could the tear heal and NOT be a problem? What OTHER causes could initiate a tear? Excessive weight gain? High heel shoes? Please help us understand! Thanks! Excellent information!

I have been searching for the type of pain I've been experiencing for like the last 2months now, and so after looking at videos for tendinitis, tendonitis, achilles tendon and ankle tendons tear and similar; I finally found something that reflects pretty much what I've been suffering all this time. I didn't hurt my foot in any way before this. The only thing that comes to mind is my achilles popping a couple times, the pain was like a 6-7 but I remember it going away after a couple hours each time. I don't even remember how long ago this was. All I know is that one day all of sudden the area described here on the side of my left ankle/leg started to hurt and the pain hasn't gone away since. Gets to the point where if I walk for too long(say longer than 10 mints) I start to limp🙄 the pain is so bad. At least now I know what kind of doctor to seek and have an idea as to what I might have.

Thank you for your excellent presentation. You give a good detailed explanation of the function of the perineal tendons & mechanism of injury & treatment. One of the best videos on this subject & I I’ve watched several! Thank yoy

Thank you, I found the amount of information in this video helpful and organized. Thanks for describing the relationship between the patient history factors and the type of shoe/sole that is preferable for addressing them.

Excellent. Wish they would have given info on the arch support they showed. Looks like something I could use.

Thank you for this lesson on the problem. I can actually understand and appreciate why I have this problem. I am relying on icing, deep tissue finger massage and plantar and dorsiflexion exercises to help. My earlier Achilles’ tendon tear must have contributed to this nagging problem.

Interesting. My pain is just under the point of the ankle, rather than above, but in every other sense it seems similar to what you describe. Could it still be PT?

I started experiencing this pain while I was recovering for my surgery on my 4th and 5th metatarsal with my other foot maybe because I only had one leg to move with so to much pressure on it

Symptoms match with what I’m having. Also noticed that on the bottom of my shoes I have more wear I’m having the symptoms.
