Peroni Nastro Azzurro Beer Vs Peroni Red Beer | Peroni Italian Lager Beer Review 

Greetings from the US, Brooklyn, NY! I wasn't much of a beer drinker growing up. In fact, I grew up in a public housing development (the projects) and malt liquor seemed to be the choice of the people I observed in my youth. You were viewed in higher regard if you were spoted drinking a Heineken. My husband works for Manhattan Beer, a distribution company, and so I've been able to try a number of wines, beers, & spirits that I wouldn't have tried otherwise. I tried the Peroni NA for the first time last year, and absolutely LOVE it! It's 9:18am here, I'm off today and doing laundry... I will be enjoying a glass shortly (don't judge me, I'm mostly okay 😊) Anyway, I really enjoyed your video, and hope to be able to find & try the red label Peroni. In Italy Peroni and Nastro Azzurro are two separate brands, NA is only called "Peroni Nastro Azzurro for the foreign market. If the bottle of NA says Peroni on it it's brewed for outside Italy. It's like if Coors sold Carling internationally and called it Coors Carling

I went to Rome a few months ago and had exactly the same experience, I've been buying Peroni Red by the case in Majestic since then.

I've seen Peroni red in Costco for a few years now, but never tried it as it's in a huge pack 😂 I shall risk the money next time I'm there and give it a go, I'm pretty sure it'll be great! Another great review Simon cheers 🍻

The color of the bottle makes a difference .. green bottles tend to give that skunky smell (which I like). It has to do with sulfide conversion sure to the color of the bottle changing the light spectrum and affecting aging. You may prefer the RED - I think it is bland. The NA in the green bottle is much more acidic and has a true pilsner flavor from the hops. GREAT VIDEO!!

I enjoy drinking Peroni Red when I visit Italy. It has an interesting bitterness to it, like somebody added a pack of old cigs during a brewing process (but in a good way).

I bought a Peroni Red a while back in homebargains because it's known for being better and didn't think it was anything exceptional tbh. I prefer the Peroni Nastro Azzurro always enjoy it out of the fridge or in the pub.

When I was in Rome a few years back, I could only see the Red version. I personally really liked it. Don’t see it widely available here in the uk though.

A couple weeks ago my home bargains in manchester was selling peroni red in cans lol it was nice enjoyed it. Not seen it since !

On a Italian 🇮🇹 scooter group I’m on they only ever drink ichnusa but I’ve never even seen it over in uk,a friend brought me one over….saving it for a special occasion 🎉

You need to get hold of the ‘real’ Estrella Damm and not the stuff that is brewed for the uk market. And also get hold of Moritz from Barcelona as well.

The regular Peroni is crisper and more refreshing compared to the Red, so would be a better summer drink for me, but the Red is still nice. By the way, the shop Simon keeps referring to in these reviews recently is actually called "Discount Supermarket" and its on Whitchurch Road in Cardiff. They have a fabulous selection, there.

At £1.80 for a 330ml bottle of Nastro Azzurro no wonder it is skunked, probably been sat on the shelf a fair while

you are absolutely correct, in southern Italy we prefer the Peroni red, not sure about what they like in the north of Italy 🤣

I bought a 4 pack of Nastro Azzurro in Tesco a few weeks ago and it said on the bottle brewed in the EU not Italy

I first saw Peroni red in Pizza Express around 35 years ago.....and you're right, the big Nastro bottles are definitely not as nice as the small bottles.

I just got back from naples, loved it and loved Peroni red. Would defo buy it if it was easily available in England.

I had the red label Peroni in Civitavecchia in Italy when I worked on the cruiseships and I found it a far superior lager 🍻🍻

The Peroni red looks way better would never buy a beer in a green bottle and noticed the red retained its where as the green one looked flat.

Yep. Peroni red (italian brewed) is soooooo much better than the locally brewed nastro azzuro peronis. You can't go wrong with it if you just want a decent no-frills macro lager. Don't know why people even bother with the nastro azzuro when the red is usually cheaper too!

Bet it’s not going to take long for them to nerf the ABV on Peroni

Italian macro lager - truly a triumph of marketing over product quality - certainly as far as the UK swarf is concerned. Big old trip to Whitchurch Road for you wasn't it, Si?! They should be paying you for the advertising

Since Peroni dropped it's ABV 0.1% it's lost it's punch it once had. The flavour is more bland. The green bottles are always skunked now as well, which was rarely the case back in the day. The red is decent but the Grand Reserva is the best of the bunch.

Maybe consider a triple review and include Peroni Gran Riserva Dippio Malto

Majestic wines sell peroni red in 24 bottles, sometimes have on offer for £24. That is when I buy.

Peroni is really nice on tap. Shame it's a rip off in most pubs. Never had the red one. The best larger in Manchester imo is JW Lees Manchester Craft, Its an awesome pint. Molson Coors 🤮 have taken over up North.. the bleeders.

Boxes of 24 Peroni Red are £24 in Majestic Wines. Thankfully they seem to have a lot of imported beers.

Peroni Red is in Ocado. I get the Spaten from there.

I sank 24 330ml cans of Nastro Azzuro one night before xmas, never had a hangover like it, the other half was livid when she came down in thw morning

Azzurro used to be 5.1% ABV

Whether beer, lager or sprits… malt is the bench mark.

Were they both Uk brewed or the real deal ?

I think one reason why the red Peroni is more commonly drunk in Italy is that it's usually also the cheapest beer you can find. Personally, I actually prefer Nastro Azzurro because I find it crisper, compared to the maltier and somewhat sweeter red Peroni.

I got a crate of peroni red from majestic wines and dunno if it was a dud crate but all poured awful no head on them, terrible brew
