Your dedication to giving all kind of movies from genre to prestige films a fair chance is admirable. I’m an actor/filmmaker. Hopefully one day you’ll interview me.

Evil Dead Rise was the first Evil Dead movie that I watched and I loved it! If I was a fan of the series beforehand, I’m sure it would be one of my favorite movies of the year.

I mean, I get it when friends or people on the internet, even, debate how 'good' a film is, but like you said, this is your personal list and is very different from, say, FYC lists that juggle what you guys think will be nominated for whatever Academy category. I couldn't help, but grin at just how horror 'heavy' this list was, but of course I grinned b/c it feels like such a Perri list. I know a lot of the blockbuster type movies whiffed, but there were sooo, sooo many good movies this year, it seems, and I'm sooo, sooo behind on all of them, lol. Maybe I can catch up with the major ones before the Oscars (for example, Oppeneheimer won't release here until next year). Happy new year to you~

I've only seen like 22 movies released this year and I've missed a lot of projects I want to see (Talk to Me, Oppenheimer, The Holdovers, John Wick 4 to name a few) but here are my current top ten: 1) Godzilla Minus One 2) Nimona 3) Across the Spiderverse 4) Evil Dead Rise 5) Barbie 6) Scream 6 7) D&D: Honor Among Thieves 8) Polite Society 9) Elemental 10) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 But like I said... there's a lot I missed. I focused on expanding my martial arts/kung fu movie base, really diving into Shaw Brothers deep catalog.

GREAT list as every year Perri, loved all of these five too. Us horror fans have been fed pretty well these last few years haha.

*_EVIL DEAD RISE was near perfect, it lacked a scene or two form me to be a 10/10. I really hope EVIL DEAD RISE II will be set back in time, with Bruce Campbell as one of the priests that's on the record and photo._* *_This is not a spoiler, it's a clue to a possible sequel either you got or it went over your head if you didn't recognize Campbell's voice. Would be hilarious if the priest is a forefather of Ash, and Bridget Fonda could play his wife._* Edit for spelling.

Poor Things doesn't come out in the UK til the 12th of January but I'm so excited to watch it along with American Fiction which comes out the end of January. Theres still some films i haven't seen - Im going to see The Boy and The Heron tomorrow but my top 5 thus far are 1 Barbie (as a father of four daughters i was bound to see it but didnt expect to love it as much as I did and I have also loved hearing Greta Gerwig talk about the making of the film) 2 Across the Spiderverse (loved the first film and this one just gave me so much more to love - the animation, the music, both Miles and Gwen'a story - my 2nd eldest is named Gwen so the father/daughter stuff hit me right in the feels) 3 Past Lives (Has stuck wifh me since watxhing it in the cinema and is a beautiful film about life - past, present and future) 4 Suzume (although it was released in Japan in 2022, it wasn't available here until 2023 and after seeing Your Name a couple of years ago and his other works including Suzume, I love Makoto Shinkai as a storyteller) 5 Nimona (had no expectations before watching it - I had heard it was based on a comic book and based on the premise thought it would be something fun to watch with the kids - did not expect to cry watching it) Also really enjoyed Talk to Me, Air, GotG 3, Dungeons and Dragons, and Saltburn just not as much as my top 5 👍

im sorry to say im not (gasp!) a big scream franchise fan perri BUT i loved scream 6. i feel like it really leaned into the giallo/murder mystery feel thats always been bubbling under the franchise surface and the core four really gave the movie a different fresher tone.

I definitely agree with Your thoughts on Evil Dead Rise Perri as far as, the performances they're so brilliantly done by Alyssa Sutherland and Lilly Sullivan to the point they need more recognition.
