Thanks a ton for the instructionals! For anyone watching in 2021, the 12mm bolts are optional to be loosened, newer models may have factory locktite on. Also you don't have to switch to the short bolt, I rounded out the long bolt and the plates were almost flush, sent pics to Perrin and they said once the plates are wedged in the bolt is really just an extra security measure, they will not budge.

I just did this to my FXT as well. So glad I did because that lane departure warning hardly goes off on the highway now. This was sort of tough to do without the benefit of long arms. Putting it up on jack stands is better than ramps, too, I think. I really wish Perrin wouldn't even include the allen wrench though because it's a little misleading to suggest that you can easily perform this modification with that tool alone. Thankfully a buddy of mine had a socket I ended up borrowing. It was still a pain, but it made much quicker work of things and I was so happy to finally see the pieces pop into place. I would also recommend some type of lubricant on the lockdown to help it slide into place a little easier.

Yeah the Allen wrench does throw you off a bit. Thanks for the input!

I just bought my XT a couple weeks ago and was shocked by the wheel slop, as my Tacoma was pretty tight. So glad there are aftermarket fixes. Too bad this is not added at the factory. Looks like a PITA but I'm going to buy one. As always, thanks for the great videos.

Thanks for the great video. I have a 2018 FXT and I did not have to loosen the upper and lower 12 mm bolts. The brackets went in smoother when coated with some lithium grease. I used the long bolt to get far side bracket in but the near side bracket started to lift up so I backed out the bolt and gave some light taps with a hammer to get it seated and then turned the bolt back in and it went together just fine. Take note in the images in the instructions just how far the long bolt sticks out the other side when everything is together correctly. I was turning and turning and turning and felt like I was stripping something but actually it was just slowly going together.

Very nice video. Did this upgrade a year ago and it has been the best bang for the buck upgrade. I actually ignored the part where you undid the 2 bolts by 2 full turns because seriously, it was a bitch to get to. Keep up the good contents.

Thanks Chris! And yes, undoing the bolts actually made the job a lot more challenging. It wasn't until after I had retightened those bolts that the dampener pieces finally sat in the right place

This was such a pain in the ass to tighten with the included 5 mm hex key. I think I spent a good 2 hours on it just now lol

Same man! I ended up using power tools to get it done

@@TheHumanCarJack what did you use on top of the drill to adapt it? Or did you just have a 5 mm hex bit with like a 13 inch extender? My right thumb is still sore lol...

at 8:35 in the video you said don't need to "tighten" down the two bolts, you mean don't need to loosen the two bolts right?

Hey man great videos. I noticed you used a lot of wrx parts on you're forester. I have a 2015 forester xt, where do you get the info on what wrx parts will fit on the forester? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
@TheHumanCarJack
@TheHumanCarJack 6 лет назад
Thanks man! I'll usually just email the manufacturer asking them if the part will fit the FXT as well

Hey man!! Any luck with a pitch stop mount???? I tried to buy one from Subispeed, but when I contacted Perrin directly they said they don't fit the FXT!?
@TheHumanCarJack
@TheHumanCarJack 6 лет назад
Yeah unfortunately the pitch stop mount doesn't fit the FXT but the master cylinder brace does by Perrin. Gonna be making a video on that soon!

Don't think i'd be able to help with the pitch stop mount but definitely give the machine shop a try and let me know what happens

That's odd, I'm seeing the part number for the stock one fitting 8 other models and varying years.
