Hello This is great material for someone who is usually the quietest person in the room. I like how Anthony recommends a way to shine and show your skills, is to ask for more tasks in your area of expertise. This is a great way to showcase ones skills, and its a great way to show what you excel in and what you feel comfortable in. Once your supervisors see how good you are in a certain area, they will see you as the go-to person in that area. I can take this and use it to show my skills, and I would feel more comfortable in that role and constantly build on that.

Anthony, thank you for highlighting the difference between being introverted and being shy. As someone who is introverted, it gets difficult having to explain how I’m an introvert but am outgoing once comfortable in certain situations. As for building your personal brand as an introvert, there is one thing that helps me when in situations where I need to represent myself. There is a quote from a book that I have read that stated, “the only person that doesn’t know you’re confident is yourself” and since reading that, it has helped me when in social settings. I hope this also helps anyone else that is introverted when in social situations.

Hi Isabel. Certainly, figuring out how to balance shyness with introversion can be difficult. I'm so glad you were able to locate a book quote that has helped you feel strong in social circumstances. Your perspective adds a useful depth to the discussion, and I hope it encourages others to accept their introversion with courage.

Hey Anthony, I got to say, this video was seriously eye-opening! The tips they shared are gonna be a game-changer for me in the finance industry. You know, it's all about becoming an expert, showing off that expertise, and sharing it with the world. These pointers are gonna be my secret sauce for nailing job interviews, impressing execs, and making a name for myself in the business world. What's really cool about this video is that it shows introverts like us that we can absolutely create a personal brand that works for us. It doesn't matter if you want it to be bold and loud or more subtle and quiet; it's all about how you want to put yourself out there. Thanks for sharing this, it's a fantastic reminder that being introverted doesn't mean we can't build a strong personal brand.

Your suggestions for introverts building personal brands are very insightful. It is true that usually we relate introvert with shy and viceversa. Personally, I am socially a very extroverted girl with my family and friends, but when it comes to talk to strangers or people that I don't really know, I can be really introvert. I have been working on it since it is going to help me in my career because I will be constantly speaking to people that I do not feel confident with. These points that you made will definitely help me improve in that aspect!

Hello Anthony, this is such a helpful video as it can be a struggle to do personal branding as an introvert. I think from this video anyone having trouble with personal branding will find these tips immensely helpful. I want to start working on tip number 2 which is promoting expertise as it does help build my personal brand. I like the suggestions you made about doing this in a low-key way and using LinkedIn or other platforms where you can post some of your professional expertise. Whether you are an introvert or not, this video shows that you can still build a personal brand and market yourself successfully.

This entire video resonates with me because I have always labeled myself as an introvert. Whenever I tell people this, I always get the response that I do not come across as a shy person or people sometimes say that I am good with people so I can’t be an introvert. I enjoy being by myself, I rather text or write than to speak, and I believe those are personality traits of an introverted person. When Anthony said that introvert and extrovert are separate personality traits instead of opposites of the same trait, that really brought it to light for me. This video was informative and helpful especially for someone like me who always have a difficult time speaking with people, even though I have to do it so often.

Hi Jessica, I too consider myself to be an introvert and Anthony did a good job about explaining ways on how to market yourself despite being more on the shy side. Promoting ourselves through different platforms such as Linkedin is a great way to make connections with people without actually having to speak to them or present yourself in person.

This video really helped me because I myself am an introvert and I don't have the best social skills. These tips have helped me that I am able to move up in a company and still not have the best communication skills in the workplace. This video really does give me some hope for myself and my fellow introverts out there, who also have trouble communicating or who are shy to ask for a promotion.

Hi Anthony! I was pleased to come across this video because I feel as if I often worry about how feeling introverted can get in the way of my professional success. I am an outgoing person most of the time, but I do have moments where I am feeling introverted. The point that stuck out to me the most in this video was tip #, sharing your expertise with others. I felt as if this tip helped me the most in understanding that when you are feeling introverted, to give yourself opportunities that allow you to showcase your knowledge and skills without having to give a presentation for example. Once you get these projects or tasks it is easy to then focus on the task at hand and not have to worry about being extroverted while completing this task. Your knowledge and skills that you put into the project/task will show off your skills and knowledge enough to where you don't have to do all the talking. I thought this video was very informative and I will be taking tips and tricks I learned in this video and applying it to my personal professional career. Thanks for sharing!

I found very helpful a lot of the tips that you gave in this video. I agree that I need to build my expertise that matches my expertise and or style and communicate my value to my intended audience, which is something I have already been doing in the workplace. To stand out or be recognized for the things you can do and do well then you have to step out of your comfort zone to be seen and recognized. I will apply these tips going forward. This was another great video.

Thank you Anthony for the great tips you suggested. The one I find most useful is tip 1 and that is being really good at your field. Hi Anthony. Good video, and all the tips provided will be very helpful for my future. Brand building is, at its heart, about building relationships and I realized that I'm actually very good at doing it one-on-one but not so good in groups, so I decided to take what I'm good at and lean on my strengths to get the job done for me. All we have to do is tap into your passion for your work, connect with confidence in your skills and experience, and find the people who need the product or service you offer.

Hey Cristopher, As you mentioned, relationships are the key to brand building. I also struggle with building relationships amongst a group as it gets pretty hectic for me when a lot of people are talking in a social setting. I definitely resonate with the fact you said "tap into your passion for your work" as that is always my go to when speaking upon a group.

As someone who is shy and reserved, being in sales seems very counterintuitive to my being because it requires a lot of human connection, face to face conversation, and confrontation. One thing I have learned in order to combat this feeling is to "create a persona" of courage. Similar to just performing, at times it becomes difficult to perform because it is against my nature, so almost convincing myself that I am someone who is forward, head-strong, and professional helps me get into the right mindset to perform the hard conversations in my industry.

Hi Angelica, I create a persona of courage as well. Deep down I can be very self conscious and not the most confident. It's important for me to remember that sometimes everybody feels this way, and I shouldn't let it intimidate me.

The third tip that was provided in this video sounds contradicting when it comes to introverts but it makes sense. As someone that is introverted I never thought of sharing my expertise when I am feeling the most introverted. This is a great way to show and perform duties at the highest level possible which will help with personal branding.

I have always been overwhelmed with the idea of marketing myself to people. My lack of self-confidence has always held me back from being able to make new connections and sell myself. After watching Anthony's video, I was thankful for his tips. He gave me a few ideas on ways I can improve my marketing skills and I encourage anyone else to watch the video. One tip I use currently and can attest to is building expertise. I completely agree that introversion and extroversion might be separate personality traits rather than opposites of the same trait. I feel like I fall under this statement, I believe that I am a mix of both and have scored high on both introversion and extroversion assessments. I believe going into the sales field and public speaking definitely has had an impact on my extroversion.

Great video Anthony. My way of thinking changed when you encourage us to build expertise in areas that will not only help our careers but also make us happy. I never considered truly measuring the utility of happiness as it relates to the development of skill sets, which I am naturally averse to. My perspective used to be to just power through it, eventually, I may learn to love it or at the very least tolerate it. For instance, when you mentioned public speaking, it reminded me of how I detest speaking publicly. Not the action but rather the catering to groups of people after. This offered me a new perspective that I can have one without the other.

Hello Ashley, I see how it can be uncomfortable catering to large groups of people. I find it hard myself. However, I think that if you find pleasure in your field of expertise it will make your job much easier and also it will bring you a sense of happiness and accomplishment. When we find passion in what we do we give more from ourselves and it can result in an awesome experience.

Hey Anthony, This video was able to provide me with some insight and knowledge that I had previously not crossed my mind. I had also always thought that introverts and extroverts were opposites and mutually exclusive, and could never figure out where I stood on the scale. Because on one hand, I have introvert qualities, like having a tight group of friends. But on the other hand, I have extrovert qualities like recharging through social interactions and not preferring alone time. This video helped me gather a better understanding of myself and my personality, which I will use to further portray myself in my personal brand.

As an introvert I agree that we can all benefit from this video. I found a lot of tips that he had mentioned to be great especially the networking alternatives such as refining your Linkedin profile. I do think that is important to step out of our comfort zone because that is the only way we can grow, however it can pose as major challenge when being an introvert. But I think the PERM method he mentioned is a great start because you properly attest to yourself and strategize how to do so. Through this we can also take into account our strong and weak factors so that we can build on them. Also another great tip I found that he mentioned was answering people in forums such as reddit where we can practice replying and helping others. This also helps your delivery of explanations which in the long run will help shape better social skills.

Hello Anthony, This is a video that resonated with me in particular because while I wouldn't completely consider myself an introvert, I have had trouble in the past with putting myself out there and I definetely feel like this at times was a deterrent in me building my personal brand. However, the material presented in this video has certainly influenced me to take a different approach to marketing myself in which some of my introverted tendencies won't really stand in my way. I found tip 1 especially helpful; while I do like to keep most aspects of my personality and personal life private and am reluctant expose that kind of stuff to the public eye, I can certainly build my personal brand moreso around my expertise and skills, rather than putting so much focus on more personal aspects of my brand.

Hi Anthony, I resonate with this video a lot because I consider myself an introvert. One thing that changed my perspective was that an introvert can score high on an extrovert scale. I never knew that you could be an introvert with extrovert tendencies, just that you will operate differently at different points in the day/week. It would make sense because I have been told before that I can be very outgoing in some discussions but not in all of them. After being in a social situation, I feel like I must restore my energy. If I apply some introvert and extrovert traits to my personal brand, it will help me stand out even more.

Hi Anthony, It may seem silly ,but I always thought that being Introverted went hand in hand with being shy. I frequently lump those terms together when describing the reason I don’t market myself on many social platforms. I appreciated the in depth historical value of being an actual introvert. I discovered in my personal branding I feel introverted and extroverted. I will take note of building my expertise using the PERM method so it matches my personality. I want my clients and audience to feel safe with my capabilities. This video helped me know it's possible to do this without bolstering myself with a crowd I don’t enjoy.

Hi Daniella! I like that Professor Anthony broke down what it really means to be introverted because it can be confused with the exact same thing as being shy. Hello Anthony, I was pleased to find the information in this video valuable as I am an introvert myself. Honestly, I have never considered how people get stuck on the idea that they should avoid excelling in areas others believe to be only for extroverts. It entirely changed my point of view on the importance of building our expertise in specific areas we may have thought was out of our comfort zone. I also found it essential to consider that one must match their expertise to their personality or style to help them fully showcase their abilities.

I like how you said it is "essential to consider that one must match their expertise to their personality or style to help them fully showcase their abilities." I think that we should always incorporate our personality into our personal life; that way we stay genuine and can make deeper connections. Though, using your personality as a shield isn't good either; sometime you have to step outside your comfort zone.

Hi Margot, I agree with you. Introverts should not shy away from excelling at activities that they believe are solely for extroverts. I always push my self to be that voice in my groups. To lead, not just by example but vocally as well. Once you push yourself out of that comfort zone, those activities introverts find daunting will become easier to partake in. Soon, those activities will become apart of your portfolio.

Hi Margot, I agree that it is beneficial to enhance your expertise in a certain area to help build confidence and get out of our comfort zone. I don’t think that people should match their expertise to their personality or style because that’s how you become comfortable and being an introvert, being comfortable is the last ting you need because it will make it harder for you to promote yourself or put yourself in the forefront to be seen.

Anthony, I am an introverted person, and it is true that we recharge by having time alone. People sometimes think I’m shy because I prefer having a close group of friends, so focusing on myself, etc. But that is not true. I love the idea that we can promote ourselves through platforms and show our expertise without speaking in public, that is a very helpful tool where we can reach many people. Last year I took a class which is speech and communication, we had to upload a RU-vid video talking about a topic, even though I’m introverted I felt very confident doing it since almost all that work was done by myself.

Hello Sabrina, I appreciate you sharing your ideas on introverts' personal branding. It's wonderful to hear that Anthony's ideas inspired you and that you think they can help others promote themselves more effectively. Finding your skills and areas of expertise is a crucial strategy for introverts to improve their personal branding, as you indicated. To identify their areas of strength and interests, this may need reflection and evaluation. Moreover, getting other people's opinions may be a useful technique for gaining fresh insight and identifying areas that need work. Personal branding, in general, is a continuing process that asks for self-awareness, contemplation, and aswell a desire to develop and advance. Introverts may successfully market themselves and reach their personal and professional objectives by taking a proactive stance and using their special skills.

Being able to be our true selves while building our brand and expertise is something Anthony emphasizes in many of his videos. We will be able to thrive in any career when we face who we are and how we can share who we are genuinely and satisfied. This video opened my eyes that I should challenge myself and begin self-assessment to build my expertise and brand in an authentic way.

Hi Mr Miyazaki, Thank you for creating a film for people who consider themselves introverted and believe they lack the skills to promote themselves as effectively as an extrovert. I think the hidden gem that most appealed to me was how you indicated that an introvert can score high on both the introvert and extrovert scales at the same time, but things will operate differently at different times of the day and week. When compared to my contemporaries, I definitely need to recharge my social batteries, but it does not imply I am constantly reserved. I have never truly considered how hard it may be for some people to express or sell themselves as an introvert. It has completely changed my view on how nervous some people may get when it comes to elevator pitches or interviews. their introverted tendencies will actually deter them from taking chances and putting themselves out there for job positions. When I start to conduct interviews at my firm in a couple of years, I will keep this video in mind because some people just are not able to sell themselves correctly and may be skipped out on for the position. I will try to make each situation comfortable and calm so they are given the best opportunity to be and sell themselves.

Anthony, this is such an inspiring and insightful video related to personal branding for introverts. This material along with the tips mentioned will definitely help me in the finance industry because it is critical to 1. build expertise, 2. promote the expertise, and 3. share the expertise with others. Therefore, it’s important to me that I remember these tips, so I am able to thrive in my professional career and how I market myself. Whether it be in job interviews, presenting to executives, or presenting for a company. This video shines light on the idea that just because you’re introverted does not mean you are not capable of building a personal brand. One can be introverted or extroverted and build a bold and loud personal brand or a subtle and quiet personal brand depending how you want to market it.

Hi Sandra, You are right, both introverts and extroverts are capable of creating a powerful and loud personal brand, it only depends on how much you are willing to get out of your shell, be confident of your knowledge, share your expertise, and begin exploring new zones out of your comfort one. I believe we all have the potential to promote ourselves as good as an extroverted person, it may take a little more time but with practice but it is possible.

Hello Anthony, thank you for the tips. I consider myself introverted with extroverted tendencies. I find that when it comes to public speaking, planning is key. My first semester at FIU, I relucted to speak in front of the class. Since I didn't want to speak in front of the class, I didn't plan properly for my first presentation. When I started to speak I forgot some main points I wanted to present and stuttered on my words a few times. Despite this, I did execute very well and received a great grade. I reflected on my first presentation and modified my approach for the next two presentations. Although, I didn't plan for my first presentation I used the rest of the PERM method you recommended for the rest of my presentations. To my delight, my comfort level and performance subsequently became better.

Although I wouldn't call myself an introvert, I do have certain characteristics associated with the label. For those like myself who struggle to develop beneficial relationships with others, this movie was really instructive and useful. I appreciate that you brought up public speaking because I struggled mightily in my first-year public speaking class. We appreciate you making a movie for those who identify as introverted and think they can't market themselves as well as an extrovert. How you said that an introvert may score well on both the introvert and extrovert scales at the same time, but that things would function differently at different times of the day and week, I believe, is the buried gem that most appealed to me. Being an introvert myself, I have had to pull back from events that may have benefited my professional development. It is challenging for me to put myself in circumstances that I am aware would sap me in some way.

It's understandable that as an introvert, you may find it challenging to engage in activities that are outside your comfort zone, but it's important to remember that personal and professional growth often come from stepping out of your comfort zone. Anthony's suggestion to explore opportunities that better align with your expertise and natural strengths is a great approach to building a personal brand that showcases your unique talents and skills. By focusing on interactions with individuals or smaller groups, you can leverage your listening skills and create deeper connections with others that can ultimately benefit your career. It's also worth considering ways to recharge and maintain your energy levels throughout the day, such as taking breaks to decompress or scheduling time for reflection and self-care. Ultimately, building a personal brand is a journey, and it's important to find a balance that works for you and allows you to present your best self to the world

I immediately knew I had to comment on this video because I'm not even sure what to label myself. Some people have called me an introvert, others have called me a social butterfly. I would have to state that it really depends on the situation. I really despise putting myself out there because I do not like to be categorized as a certain type of person at all. I try and avoid using social media as much as possible because certain pictures that I post may seem ridiculous to me later on. Some of the material presented in this video does inspire me to create a personal brand I like and that is variable enough. Even if I don't plan on using LinkedIn much, I still have to answer people when they ask me what I do for a living. If I study law I want to be the best lawyer I can be but I don't want to just answer with "I'm a lawyer". Instead, I rather say something along the lines of "I protect family businesses from getting sued". I know understand that I truly prefer to sell my skills in person rather than online, I'm starting to consider the idea of hiring a personal coach in order to help me plan a personal brand I can comfortably put online.

I was happy to see Anthony distinguish introversion from shyness. In myself, I see how introversion and extroversion are not opposites of the same trait, but rather independent qualities that someone can equally possess. It makes sense why introverts would benefit from being specialized professionals, rather than being ‘jacks of all trades’. Built into being a specialized professional is being clever with the advertising of your skills, which is only becoming increasingly accessible in today’s modern landscape through podcasts, forum websites, and networking platforms.

Before even watching this video I knew I would gain many insights from it. I consider myself an introvert, and though I don't necessarily see it as a negative trait I do notice when it stops me from showcasing my best self to others. I tend to be shyer in group projects for school or don't like bringing up questions or concerns at work. The part of the video that resonated with me most was the first tip you brought up. A great approach to establishing my brand is to excel at something-not merely get good at it. The key for introverts like myself is to develop certain skills that match not only my personality but my work ethic as well. I think this is a great idea because my working and excelling in a few skills you are giving yourself the opportunity to showcase them to others. I can use this concept in my position at my job by taking a few tasks that I think I do well on but trying to work on them more so that I can then use the skills as a way to promote myself more. For example, I can work on my design and marketing pieces more so that when different opportunities arise I can offer myself and the past work I have done to prove my skills.

Hello Anthony, this video has given me a different perspective on how I can approach my personal brand. I find myself to carry heavy introverted aspects. Solitude helps me unwind and focus on what I need to do for myself. I used to view it as a weakness, but as I have continued to be more involved and pushed myself to more extroverted aspects, I realize it is perfectly fine. This video explains that no matter if you are introverted or extroverted you have to establish yourself and have confidence in your abilities. As a person myself who can be looked at as a introvert, I was able to learn a few things from this video. Growing up I used to be really shy in school and be scared to talk in front of a big class. Despite that what i've realized is that it's all a mental thing because i started to get out my comfort zone and experience new things and this really helped out for me to gain more confidence. In addition to the topic sometimes one of the reasons introverts are not as outgoing is because they haven't found someone that can match their energy and or relate. In personal branding it's all about finding out who your audience is going to be and making the connections to make yourself more confident and a influencer. I've learned that not everything is going to be your cup of tea and at the end of the day one persons trash can be someones treasure.

Anthony, Thank you for making a video when it comes to people who feel they are introverted and have the feeling that they don’t have the ability to market themselves as strong as an extrovert does. I think the hidden gem that appealed to me the most was how you stated that an introvert can score simultaneously high on the extrovert scale as well, just things will operate differently on different times of the day and week. I always tell myself I am shy person and coincide that with being an introvert, but like you said, that is not exactly true, as I have been told I can be very outgoing once joining in on discussions. I definitely need to recharge my social battery when compared to my peers, but that does not fully mean I am always being reserved. Although I get reluctant to speak to crowds now and then, being more knowledgeable about the subject matter gives me more topics to speak about. So after watching and listening to this video I know exactly what to focus on so I can fully get out of that introverted shell and be able to fully perform to my maximum capabilities in customer service.

I totally relate to this video! The idea of being introverted but not shy is one I've been working on for a while. As you pointed out, one way to become better at building your brand is by becoming an expert in an area. Before my most recent job interview, I researched everything I could about the company in order to speak with confidence about the product. So much in fact that the interviewer said they were impressed I knew so much. With your PERM Method, I can definitely improve in this area and be able to confidently speak not only about a product, but about my personal brand as well.

As an introvert myself, I’ve always questioned my ability to market myself in the business world. I thought it would be very challenging based on my experiences when being put in social environments. After finishing the video, Anthony gave amazing tips that I now can implement into improving myself for the future. One tip I use currently and can attest to is building expertise. Hi Gabriela, I also consider myself an introvert and it’s hard when colleagues tell you to go to events and that the only way to grow is by meeting people face to face etc. With the power of social media we can also influence and market ourselves by building expertise and sharing it to others in a free innovative way. Moving forward I think this separation between intro and extro is slowly shrinking.

Being an introvert myself, these tips allowed me to gain a new perspective on my personal branding. I’d like to emphasize Tip 2 about promoting your expertise when feeling introverted. Even in moments when I am feeling more introverted, it is crucial to find a way to get others to understand my expertise. Another valuable insight is that I should not avoid excelling in areas often associated with extroverts. In other words, I've learned not to limit myself when it comes to expanding my expertise while building my personal brand.

As someone who sees themselves as an introvert, I found this to be a great video Anthony Miyazaki! What really resonated with me is when you mentioned the PERM method and how you said naturally as introvert we tend to self reflect. I find this to be the case with myself when creating a brand based on skills and expertise. I always want to identify which areas I'm strong and weak in to better refine my skills and know what can be applicable to me. This does give you better insight on what career roles to look for and the type of work setting and environment would be best suited for me. Furthermore, this goes back into what you said when building your expertise and brand because you have better understanding of your resources. I also liked what you had said when you mentioned not everyone is comfortable going to events and that building your linkedin is also great start! I always found it hard to go out and network in person, however I have had a lot of success through linkedin when it comes to promoting myself and have even received several job offers! I think its best to understand your expertise and exactly what you're comfortable with and work with that. Even as introvert there are many ways we can brand ourselves and still be just as successful as extroverts!

Thank you for this video, Anthony. I struggle with being a little introverted at times and I relate to your Tip 2 in the sense that I don't make my expertise all that known. I believe I am a humble person and I hold myself back when talking about the things I am good at to avoid sounding conceited since I am not at all that. I haven't really thought about the fact that employers wouldn't be able to know what I am good at if I never express it to them. Now I need to practice being comfortable displaying my skills.

Anthony's way of explaining when a person is an introvert and an extrovert helped me apply it to myself and analyze how do I perceive myself. Also, I felt identified when he talked about not feeling comfortable going to networking events and talking to different people. I consider myself an extrovert since I enjoy social events. However, I don't like when things feel forced. I enjoy networking with people when it is in a more natural environment. I have created great connections and not necessarily in networking events. I feel hesitant and do not attend networking events since I feel there is a pressure to talk to people and portray yourself as the best choice in the room. I see how my thought process might not be the right one but it is something that I find hard to do.

The part I resonate most with is when Anthony explains that being introverted doesn't necessarily mean someone is shy. I get a lot of people who tell me how outgoing I am and I used to be confused as to why people thought this. Well, Anthony explained it very well, when I am mentally prepared for a social event I can be very fun. However, often times, my social battery runs out and I prefer alone time to be able to cope. Tip #2 explains that if I am unable to show off my expertise through presentations, then I can do it through writing or other similar forms. This can be very helpful through out my career because I will still be able to show off what I know and what I can do.
@AngelicaGarcia-bi5xy

I resonated with that statement as well, I am not shy, but in many situations, my social battery simply runs out. One trick I use to help fight this feeling is shift my attitude towards the situation, and it helps physically prepare me to continue a social interaction even when I "don't feel like it".

It seems likely that the video on the characteristics of an introvert will be helpful to a good number of my friends who are introverts. I am aware of how challenging it can be for those who are more reserved to create their personal brands. I like how Anthony describes introvert versus extrovert in the video. An introvert needs alone time to recharge, whereas an extrovert refuels by being with others.
