Good video. You could have mentioned which size of the GR2 you have used for the trip.

Lolz, thanks for pointing that out, I forgot to mention it's the 26L size

Yes! To the nitize quicktie! That is exactly how I use it! It’s so handy because it is essentially one of the 5 c’s”: cordage (variant). I used it to relieve pressure off my ears during Covid too.

Love this video. I do enjoy things like your bag reviews, but this one has some amazing details regarding the actual trip and how you used the pack and its organization packing for your trip. Thanks again for some great content.

Not a bad bag, when you gonna do a review on underseat pro backpack? I feel like you would be the only individual who would do a comprehensive packing demo on it 😎

Have you tried the Underseat Pro? Looks interesting, like a big box but maximizes space.

@@OneBagTravels I have not, but funny enough I got their bag coming in the mail today it just so happens 😅 gonna test it for my flight this week to Orlando, I usually go with my north face Basecamp duffel xs but I want something a bit more squared off to better fit in the sizers cause yes the basecamp duffel does work but it's a bit more cylinder shaped which can work but I feel more squared off would be a bit more efficient

Love the GR2 style. I got Bullet DC16 in the same layout for under the seat tech, in flight needs and other necessities for a 2-carry on set up with a rollaboard for clothes and shoes in the overhead. The Bullet DC16 meets even the more stringent United and Jet Blue personal item limits. If I was one-bagging and wanted to minimize the risk of a gate check, I'd get the GR2 26L.

I tried the GR2 in the Jetblue sizer box as well and it's too big 😫

Excellent video and informative content. I recently returned from Costa Rica and Colombia(25 day trip) and used the Aer TP3 as my main carry-on bag. I also flew Avianca which was great on their brand new A320 Neos. I travel with more stuff than you but you really only need beach shorts (Vilebrequins) Havianas and a couple of T-shirts, a couple of linen shirts and two pairs of light cotton pants The Aer accommodated all my stuff and was a pleasure to use Much prefer the aesthetic to that if the GR2 but that’s just my personal subjective view

Do you have a link for the binoculars you used?
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 3 месяца назад
They're Zeiss 8x25 Terra ED. I added an Amazon link under the Misc section in the description, but you can get them from most of the major camera stores. I bought them from B&H Photo for ~30% off, but I don't see them for sale anywhere right now. The case they come in is good but bulky. I usually put them in a small bag in a padded part of my backpack when I travel with them.

Great video. You mentioned you brought snacks along - how do you pack snacks and food for flights in a personal item bag? I find it takes up so much space and hinders my ease of access, but for me are so essential to bring.
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 3 месяца назад
I just put them in whatever pocket I have room in and pull them out when I get on the plane. Or I put them in my pockets before boarding and just stick them in the seat-back pocket. Usually I try to bring snacks that are calorie dense and don't take up a lot of room, nuts, jerky, protein bars, and avoid things like chips that get crushed easily.

Please make sure you do the packing peanut test! If you have a 26L GR1 I'd like to see how it compares volume wise to the GR2.
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 3 месяца назад
@@zzyzxroad92309 For sure. I don't have the GR1 but I'd like to get one to do a comparison, the new ripstop version is much lighter which has been GoRucks biggest issue I think.

Love mine gr2 26l but i always overstuff mine 😅 curious if you will try the backpack with a built in packing cube sistem thats its vacuum for stuff more things (i dont remember the name) .
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 3 месяца назад
The Airback? I like the idea of vacuum bags, but relying on a pump seems problematic because what do you do if it breaks on the road? I guess you just have a regular backpack. I much more like the idea of compression cubes, like Matador has some new gear cubes that look interesting. I think if I was going to use a vacuum bag it would be something like the bag from Nomatic, it has a valve that you squeeze the air out. Could be useful to save space, and if it breaks or leaks then you just have a waterproof packing cube.

Is the back area as bad as people say? I keep hearing it’s a sweat box
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 2 месяца назад
Breathability isn't the best. They updated the back fabric a couple of years ago so it's not as abrasive as it was, but it's still very basic and flat. Not much in the way of air ventillation.

I do mind the price tag, but I love the video! 👌
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 3 месяца назад
It's funny because GoRuck bags have traditionally been quite expensive compared to most brands. But somehow they've managed to keep their prices fairly stable these last 2-3 years, while many other bag companies have gone way up in price. What used to be a bag that was way more expensive than most, has now become just one more expensive bag in a long list of high priced packs. Thinking of bags like Attitude Supply, Trakke, Tom Bihn, Nomadic, Boundary Supply, Tortuga, Matador. There's still inexpensive bags out there, but it's getting harder to find them that are good quality.

No hip belt on the GoRuck would be a deal killer for me. Even on that size bag, a hip belt makes a big difference, as it keeps the weight close to your back and prevents it from swaying.
@kevinmcauley3847

You can buy one as an add on (connects to the side molle webbing) for about $20

For me, it's LOAD LIFTERS. It can really make or break a travel pack.
@sng2225
@sng2225 3 месяца назад
I never use a hip belt for carryon only. Max weight is 7kg for most flights i use and sometimes even less so weight isn't an issue for me. If it was removable its fine otherwise I'd cut them off.

26L does not sway that much - the GR design keeps the load high on the back. Not until you get close to 40L would a hip belt be helpful.
