in Switzerland every 1 in 2 citizen's have a gun. And the only gun free zones are government buildings such as the capital and not including school's and have the lowest crime rate in the world.

As a 16 year old citizen of the United States, this saddens me. This saddens me because people like this, people like you, want to take away the very right that so many fight for and give their all to protect. This isn't just about guns. This has never been just about guns, or the safety of the American people, it isn't about "assault weapons" killing children, it isn't about the few mad men with a gun waltzing into a populated location and massacring dozens. It is about the freedoms that we the people, the people of the United States have been provided. The rights that make this country the greatest on Earth. I own guns, I use guns, and I love guns; however that doesn't mean that I will walk onto a college campus and kill innocent people, or into an elementary school and massacre small children. That doesn't mean that I will walk into a movie theater or a nightclub and commit a heinous act of stupidity and violence. People push for a ban on guns, but that truly is not the issue. I know, that is a cliche response to anti gun reforms, but it is true. People blame physical objects for the deaths of so many, but how is that right? How is that acceptable? A 30 round magazine cannot, by itself, kill. A semi- automatic rifle cannot, by itself, kill. People blame objects because they can control objects, not because they are actually at fault for whatever acts of violence were committed with them. But, as I said before, this argument has never been about guns from either side; liberal or conservative, democrat or republican, left or right. It has always been, and will always continue to be about the American people. The decision that we as Americans and you as an anti gun lobbyist must make is: Will I stand up and fight to maintain the rights that were provided to me? Or will I sit down and wash them down the drain. I don't know about you, but I wish to protect my rights. Not just my constitutional right to bear arms, but every single amendment in the constitution. Every single amendment in the Bill of Rights. If the Second Amendment were repealed, that would pave the way for the repeal of any other amendment that the government felt didn't apply to society at the time. What happens when the First amendment is repealed? Then no one will be able to share their personal opinions, regardless of their beliefs. What happens when the Fourth amendment is repealed? We will live in a society in which it is acceptable for the governing powers to search our homes, our cars, and us. Slowly our rights as Americans, and our rights as humans could be stripped from us. Yes, it is outlandish, but it is also possible. The thought so scary that few wish to acknowledge its existence. Is that a risk you are willing to take? Are you willing do abandon every right you have as an American? I personally do not want to end up in a society which bears the identity of a real life "1984". I propose one question to you, and to everyone. How much are you willing to give up as a person and as well as a citizen of the United States of America? Because if you give an inch, those in power will sure as hell be one step closer to taking a mile. Please, we must come to an understanding as Americans, we must obtain a mutual respect for those who reserve opinions contradictory to our own; however, we the people must do so in such away that we protect every single right afforded to us. Don't run and blame something or someone in times of dire urgency. Blame society, or the world, or human nature. Take a look at how society can improve as a whole. You will be displeased to know that you were much, much free-er in 1994 than in 2016. Eventually the government will become over centralized and as it already gets involved in everyone's daily life will become like a rabid dog and need to be put down. Because what we need a new dog and not the rabid, vicious monster that Washington has become. This government has become sick and what we really need is to toss 200 years of law in the garbage and start over with unlimited freedom and unlimited consequences should you abuse that freedom to hurt others. Ask yourself this... why do you need a licence to fish, hunt, travel, get a job, gather or grow food, collect water, build things on your own land, pay rent on your own land in the form of property tax, slave away so you can have your income confiscated before you even see it...... Thanks for posting this video, I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! All I heard was the same repetitive feel good measures that doesn't do jack shit to stop violent criminals. You saying the 2nd Amendment is outdated is you also saying the rest of the Bill of Rights is outdated too! How would you feel about Free Speech reform? Would you vote for that or outrage about it? I have owned a gun for several years in my house and never once has someone been shot because all of my guns are handled well. No it didn't, over 300 were shot last year in two mass shootings that resulted in the deaths of over 150 people, more than all of the mass shootings in the United States of the last decade combined! The Bill of Rights has been amended 27 times and will continue to be amended as time goes on. The current state of the country is tumultuous and scares the hell out of me. It troubles me that there is no longer a generation of fighters that stand for personal freedom... instead we are accepting an era of social justice and man-hating. I personally find it disheartening to know that I can not rely on a stranger to step in and save the day if the chips were down. It bothers me that the sense of community that used to be so prevalent in America is now fading as people are turned against one another based off of their political views. This is only made worse by the polarization publicized by the news and social media. Disconnecting Facebook, Instagram, Fox, and CNN weren't enough for me because EVERY elder that I (previously) respected no longer hold their own views. They simply hold the opinion of some TV personality who likely aced his public speaking class and carries the charisma of Barack as well as the stone-cold tenacity of Mr. Trump. These views are not absolute. Formulate your own opinions. There are a multitude of positive points made by both the Left and Right. I will say that the Left is diving a little off of the deep end when it comes to their constitutional beliefs however. At the end of the day, I am a responsible gun owner in California and I am terrified that the majority of this state has lost touch with the rest of the country (likely for acceptable reasons in their own minds). The Second Amendment is so inherently crucial simply because it gives citizens the right to be able to DEFEND their "Lives, Liberty, and their Pursuit of Happiness" that we all so used to idol after. Ask any immigrant, ask those who go to bed at night after a 12 hour day on the farm or even in the office. Ask those who WOULD know what to do in case of emergency. Ask those of us that you have learned to rely upon and have been able to turn to when the chips were down. Not all of us who are protectors pursue the obvious career paths of becoming cops or joining the military. We are sheepdogs; in an era of sheep. During the thirty year period from the mid 1960s to the mid 1990s when it was much more difficult to carry a gun legally the homicide rate was multiples higher than before or since . It rapidly rose when the restrictions were put in place and rapidly dropped when they were lessened. Moreover, virtually all of those places where the homicide rate remains high are where restrictions are in place at the state or local level. More than half of homicides are criminals killing other criminals. In places like Baltimore and Philadelphia it's about 50%. In my state, almost all homicides are committed by people with a long history of violent crime. Why aren't they locked up? And why do politicians insist on restricting our gun rights instead of locking the dangerous among us up for the safety of society?
It rose after more guns were added to this country. The more guns you add, the higher likelihood that someone will get be killed by one, either by suicide, homocide, or accidental discharge. It’s like having twice as many drunk drivers on the road, obviously their will be more fatalities because the odds of an incident happening have gone up.
Guess how many accidents with guns have happened in my home? Zero. How many family members murdered in my home? Zero. The fact that others abuse a right shouldn't limit my exercise of that same right. People drive drunk. Should we revoke the driver's licenses of those who don't drive drunk? More people die in the USA in a year from drunk drivers than by homicide with guns.
And if any of the people in those tragedies had a gun it could of been a different story there will always be someone with a gun so it’s better to give the good guy a chance to fight back
Sorry, not a very persuasive speech. More like a rattling off of not-very-well-researched talking points that are easily refuted. For example, the obligatory variation on the "shouting fire in a theater" theme. Incitement and libel are the abuses of the right to free speech, not legitimate exercises thereof. Committing murder with a gun--and note the term "murder"--is also not a legitimate exercise of the right to keep and bear arms. Most people aren't given over to abusing their rights, which is why over 99.8% of gun owners don't commit gun-related violent crime in this country in a given year. I would imagine stats about libel are largely the same, with the overwhelming majority of those who communicate not engaging in libel nor slander. Yet, for some reason, the mere possibility of abusing speech rights doesn't elicit the same sort of measures to restrict speech for all but a professional elite that we see "progressives" push for gun ownership.

Brad, where did you get the statistic that (the FBI put out??) for every justified homicide there are 50 more murders? That would put gun murders around 400,000. Math does not compute....???o_O (from the 2012 FBI statistics there were around 40,000 gun deaths, 16k suicide, 8k justified, etc etc.) Just asking for clarification, nothing more.

The second amendment wasn’t written to protect against potential slave uprisings. That’s absurd. The second amendment was written to grant the basic human right to life. It was written so we, as American citizens have the right to self preservation. The argument that “a few brave gun-toting citizens” won’t do anything against our military is foolish at best. That is exactly what the whole world thought during the revolutionary war, and look who came out on top. Regardless of who would win, if/when that day comes, I would want a firearm to protect myself and my family. Wouldn’t you? Banning guns isn’t going to make it harder for people who want to use them illegally, as you mentioned, people find ways around restrictions and will undoubtedly find a way around a gun ban. However, the answer isn’t to just ban them anyway. That is only going to prevent law abiding citizens from attaining weapons. Also, the right to bear arms is not as simple as most people would like to believe. I absolutely agree that if a right threatens others that there should be limits imposed, AND THERE ARE. There are restrictions on firearms. You have to pass a background check to purchase a firearm, you can’t have a shotgun with a sawed off barrel.
We have guns for own self defense and for insuring that the government doesn't overstep its lines (like has happened in countries where guns are illegal) not because we wanted to control slaves. And if we DID ban guns, is that going to stop murders, rapists and car jackers?
I find it troubling that we Americans find issues like gun carry in the states to pick sides over. There’s not one American that wants more shootings in schools, churches, restaurants, or banks. What I see are solutions from two sides. People who think more armed individuals will eliminate gun violence are well meaning. People who think disarming everyone will eliminate gun violence are AlSO WELL MEANING! It’s time to make this issue non-partisan. How will we reduce gun violence in America? Post armed guards in every school room, or train and arm teachers? One security guard per 15 individuals in a mall, or allowing prudent, trained individuals to carry their firearms concealed? What we come down to in the long haul is money. I am not willing to put down the money to pay these guards. Are you? Another option is to allow volunteers to pay for their own training, do their duties in everyday life to protect themselves and everyone in their 20. What’s your solution, what would you propose? Let me say one thing, thank you for not being political. Politics bring out the worst in intelligent people. The way I see this is people on the right are arguing about gun control, and are arguing that it is absurdly outrageous and it is a blatant violation of freedom. It is a violation of freedom, I'm not claiming to be anti or pro gun. I am merely someone who wants to get the issue from the two extremes and then have constructive debate and discussion to work out solutions. Politics take the good out of everything, everybody wants to be a good person, but the ideas and ambitions for power corrupt a Politics mind and make them extort legit solutions to legit problems for the rise to power. The 2nd amendment was not created so the slaves wouldn’t uprise. It was created to defend our selves from the government because at the time a lot of communist countries were executing there citizens. But I do agree with you that in countries like England the have a ban on all guns and there countries have really close to no gun violence, which gives us a good reason to ban guns
People die more from drinking and driving and texting annually than the use of guns killing people annually. You can't ban alcohol or phones, and nobody can ban guns. I own guns and will not give them up!
The second amendment states,"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." We have the right as a law abiding citizen to purchase and own a firearm. We have the right to apply for and get a conceal carry permit. It is kinda funny that conceal carriers are less likely to commit a crime than a cop.

Look i live in germany, guns aren't legal here yet i feel free and safe. Let me tell you once you lose someone to a gun shootout your opinion will change. Think about all the mothers and fathers who have lost their children. You have to be open for other opinions, dont be stubborn. The guns itself aren't bad, but its morally wrong if anyone, no matter what their intention is can get a gun. Guns are also the reason why many innocent mostly black people are shot by police officers, anyone they pull over could have a gun and i dont think thats something fun for an police officer.
