Installed Pertronix Ignition 1181 LS. Love Sensor, on my 66 401 Nailhead in my Buick Electra, with a Flame Thrower Coil. Would definitely recommend this, have used Pertronix for years and have always been impressed and never had issue.

Thanks brother! I watched your video about 2 years ago and I never got around to doing this. Then I watched it again and again and still never did it. I finally got these installed today in my 64 wildcat and I owe you a great thanks! I appreciate it! It's hard to believe it was so simple. For anybody else watching, it really is as simple as he shows it. It seems like maybe he left out something but he didn't.. It's easy! 😀

i just used a zip tie as a fish tape to pull those wires through the hole

Hi. A bit old clip but i’ll take a chance and ask anyway. I am in the middle of mounting the axact set up on a 401. But cant get any spark. In my opinion the ignition module is too far away from the cam lobes. I have searched the internet for answer, but to no success. And since the airgap is not adjustable i’ve got a feeling that something is wrong. Can you tell me the airgap between the module and the camlobes? B-O

Honestly there is only one way to put it in if you use the correct screw hole placement. I’ve installed many of these setups on over 10 cars and I have never had a issue but I have heard of someone getting a bad one out of the box. I would put it back with the points if it was running before to confirm. I always replace the coil and you need a constant good 12v and get rid of the resistor also.

No you do not, just confirm you are ordering the correct one for your distributor.

Mine 66 Buick wildcat had a msd ignition box on it when I bought it ,changed it out for a summit racing ignition box but now I've got no fire to the spark plugs I've the pertronix flamethrower ignition coil n ignitor new distributor alternator, starter, voltage regulator

These things are junk some are bad out of the box, I could never make them work

I’ve been using them since the 90s, always worked right out of the box and never have had one go bad or quit. Usually the people that have issues aren’t sure how to install them correctly.

Did you run a new12 volt power feed from the ignition switch or did you just connect to the original resistance wire feed that drops down the voltage to around 8 volts for breaker points? If you didn't upgrade the 12 volt feed wire then perhaps thats why you may have had so much problems with them. I have installed a few of these and never had any problems either.
