My 3 1/2 year old cat Mabel was officially diagnosed with nasal lymphoma today. Absolutely broke our hearts. She's a rescue cat and my wife brought her home just over three years ago, shortly after I was injured at work and forced to sit at home in-between PT and doctor's visits. She's been at my side every minute of every day and she's my best friend in the world. We're going to do everything we can for her, which means I'm probably heading out of state to get her radiation therapy and surgery. It's the least I can do for my little chungasaur. Thank you for the information and I'm praying that she pulls through, she's the most stubborn little thing in the world and she is going to fight tooth and nail to survive. Best of luck to everyone going through this as well.

So my boxer Bella was diagnosed with nasal cancer. I did the ct scan and biopsy and found out our choices were radiation, Palladia or do nothing and she would have had 2-3 months. I decided to get Bella on Palladia . She diagnosed 3/29/2020 and started Palladia in April. We finally had her on 70mg of Palladia. Bella didn’t have and change in her muzzle. But while on Palladia the sneezing stopped and bleeding but she was a zombie . Don’t get me wrong she still ate,drank and her nub still went crazy when I came home. She stayed on Palladia from April till October....I decided to stop having her taking the meds. We are now on Jan 2 ,2021 and she is having bleeding issues no change in muzzle and is now having a hard time breathing. I’m gonna call my vet on Monday as he just saw her and her heart and lungs sounded good and he could see the normal Bella back. I seriously don’t think I’m going to go back to Palladia. Since she is now having issues breathing the right thing to do is to have her put down . It makes me cry to think about doing it but it’s the right thing to do. My vet didn’t think Bella would live this long. I used radiation on my last boxer Diesel with a brain tumor it was horrible. For me I made the right choice for Bella . She is laying next to me now and would have been 10 this April( I rescued her almost 7 yrs ago). I Wish cancer would leave our babies alone. Good luck everyone.

My Bichon was put down for the same reason even though we decided not to give any treatment. We have this on this train since December. It started with reverse sneezing and bleeding from right nostril. She didn't loose appetite but she change her habits ..Not playing with her toys was one of them. Last thing she started getting was seizures often 3 per day so we decided it was time to let go. It has been the most difficult decision.

My Bichon Frise was put to sleep today due to this Illness. He was 13 years old. He started the bad symptoms back in December with lots of reverse sneezing and bleeding through one nostril. One xray recently showed something was going on but needed a CT scan. He didn't lose appetite however he did stop playing with his toys. He was put on pain meds. The vet thought it was invasive because he started having seizures. Unable to hold any balance or bathroom time. I am devastaded beyond words. I am here watching this video for closure.

Going through this now, 13 years old lab mix. It is very hard on my wife and I, my stomach is a mess. He’s a son to us and family to the whole family. We did get a Chinese herb that’s worked for the bleeding and he eats like a pig! Hard times ahead.

Thanks so much- this is so helpful!! When I went into the oncologist and got the initial probable diagnosis there was so much information to take in while I was in shock and trying to fight the wishful denial. It is so helpful to have a vlog to go back and refer to, and also to share info with others. You also went into greater depth than any of my vet experiences so far. (There was definitely no mention of 3 treatments of stereotactic radiation, only 4 weeks of 5 days a week radiation.) We've opted for palliative medical management and are giving our 11 year old pup his best life while we can. So glad to have found your vlog!!

I'm sad that I had to come across your videos. I must say you are an amazing vet. My wifey and I have a 11 year old female Shih Tzu that we might have to put down in the next few days. Last week our family vet told us that Babygirl has a mouth tumor. It broke both our hearts. I found out when she called me while I was at work and I just broke down. We were treating her for a bad tooth when it was much worse. So tomorrow she goes in for an exam to see if she can be saved but I know in my heart what we must do. I can't live with knowing she is in pain I gave her a last bath and she is skin and bones but she is still a fighter. I don't think she would make it through it been removed. It's at the back of her mouth on the left side. It sucks but we have the memories and she knew we loved her. She was a great service dog and she will live on.

you did such an amazing job!!!! so basically when it comes to nasal cancer all kinds there is not a high hight chance of living more than a year to 2... u know blue lasted 7 months and now it makes sense since she was on basically pallative..... dr sue i will cherish you and your friendship always!!!! i suggest everyone to follow you as i learned more than i could have imagined!!!! thank you!!!!

Thank you!! I am so happy you liked these but I did not say there is no chance of living ore than a year or 2. That is the MEDIAN survival time. I have canine patients that lived 4 plus years and Miku the cat with nasal lymphoma was JUST euthanized last month - almost 8 years out and in remission- but she had oral squamous cell carcinoma, a very tough cancer in cat mouths. So they can longer with radiation.

Your videos are so informative! Thank you! My vet has diagnosed my Bichon with nasal tumor. Unfortunately because of chronic heart disease, he can not have a CT scan or MRI. Is there another suggestion? I love my 10 year old baby! Poor little guy has been through al ot and is a fighter!

My cat had CT Scan/rhinoscopy/biopsy performed early this month due to a swelling in his nose bridge which originally we thought was due to rhinitis brought on by fungal infection. Unfortunately the CT showed a mass which has already caused bone destruction. Fungal infection was ruled out and I’m just waiting for the oncologist to call us back to determine the type of cancer and treatment options. I hate that the mass has obstructed his breathing in his left nostril. Currently he is still himself. No signs of weight loss and his appetite is quite the same. He eats, drinks, and uses the litter box. I’m trying to be hopeful.

Merry Christmas! Our sweet Sunshine, female Chihuahua/Minpin mix has been diagnosed with aggressive nasal planum SCC. We have seen 2 oncologists and a surgeon. We were told the treatment of choice is surgery. I am an RN and know every situation is unique to the patient. We are scheduled for surgery Tuesday. I am wondering about the stereoscopic radiation... I hope you read this and could possibly do a consult. Of course, we will compensate. I am heartsick! It is so important that we provide the best possible care for our girl. We don't want her to suffer. Please comment if you have any advice or would be available for consult. Thank you so much. The work you do is admirable. Thanks again.

I was presented to do CT and scope but the prices was so above, what I could afford. They extracted and submitted a pathology from the lymph nodes that are enlarged.

I'd love to know what your benchmarks are for who is and who is not a candidate for strereotactic radiation? Our dog is 11. Our oncologist recommended palliative radiation or medical management and I just want to make sure we have considered everything possible

I just had to put my 11.5 year old maltese down last week. We didn't know it was cancer until it was too late. Frequent Bloody Noses and Seizures. I will not dwell on what we could of done since we gave her the best life ever and a palliative treatment, but, I was wondering what is usually the prognosis once seizures start as the cancer heads into the brain?

Hello doctor. I have a female tortie. She was fine about 2 months ago. Now I noticed she has swelling on the right side of her face. Seemed to come all if a sudden. I brought her to my local banfield animal hospital. They did a fungal test and looked her over. They found she does not have a fungal infection. My vet is not sure what it is. She has discharge from her nose and right eye. I am afraid she might have cancer. I live in nc but can't seem to find a oncologist vet in my area? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to loose my best friend! 😥 Thank you. God bless.

Thanks for this. How about immunotherapy or oncolytic vaccines in combination with Stereotactic radiation in cats nasal adenocarcinoma ? Not simultaneously but in succession. In humans, it makes a huge difference (that's my field). Also how many stereotactic ration treatments can be done (One treatment = 3 days)?

I have a gsd that is 6 years old and has been being treated for an infection in the nose. Is it possible that he could have something in his nasal skin that could cause the inflamation that is not cancer. I am concerned because this is his 3rd round of anti-biotics and it seems to come back immediately after the anti-biotics

Hi!! I have a schnauzer and I noticed she has lumps on her breasts... I’m not sure if this is normal in schnauzers?. I bought her about 2 months ago from a person. She is 2 years and I am just noticing this. Should I take her to a vet? Is this something I should be worried about?
@christinemilisavljevich4739
@christinemilisavljevich4739 4 года назад
You should take her to a vet as soon as possible. Lumps around the breasts can be indicative of mammary cancer, particularly in unspayed females.. (also search mastitis in females to see if she is presenting any of those symptoms). I wish the best for you and your furbaby.

My little life partner has a massive nasal tumour, Adenocarcinoma. I have been looking all over the internet trying to understand what will happen to her with palliative steroids and pain medication (I can’t afford anything 😭) it’s such a different cancer.. she scores very high on mobility, nutrition, hydration, hygiene, bathroom. But she has a massive tumour and it ruptured. It opens and there’s all this brown liquid that pours out for most of the day until it’s mostly blood. She’s so uncomfortable and it’s very itchy when it’s pouring out. I just want to know what happens to our babies when they’re untreated and it progresses. What will happen all the way until the terrible end. Because I don’t have a reference so I can understand if I have any time left with her, or have I just been letting her stay in horrendous pain. I hear a lot of cancers kill them very fast, but I’ve gratefully had over a year with her. I know all of the options if I had money. I’m dying for a play by play. Like what is this ruptured tumour business? Why does it create so much liquid? Is it good or bad that it’s pouring out, will it dehydrate her and kill her, is it actually an infection? (No bad smell) she’s been so strong. Has anyone been through this? Dr.Sue could you make a video on this please 🙏 I would appreciate any information

My girl has nasal carcinoma. She also has a infection that we have to treat before we can do anything for the tumor. My vet suggested Yunnan baiyao for the nose bleeding. Had to order it online but seems to work pretty good. Good luck and I hope the best for your baby.

I just had to put my little life partner down.. I wish I knew how bad this gets because I would have had so much time to find the funds. I thought every day that she could die but it takes months and she had low grade so I had a year that I never knew I’d have to find funding. If you have any questions please ask me. This was the worst year of my life and an explanation of what will happen without radiation, would have saved her life.

I have my dog for 16 years I got him since he was born. I think he has a nasal tumor because his left eye and face is swollen and he is congested for a month now. He started sneezing, running nose and now nosebleed often. Because of his age what are the possibilities for him.
@kathleens1155

So sorry to hear, Maria. My vet recommended a chinese herb, Yunnan Baiyao, to help with the bleeding. My 18-year-old baby girl has done much better since starting to use that and prednisone. I'd suggest asking your vet about both since your dog is older too and I'm guessing you don't want very invasive and/or painful treatments either now given his age. Good luck!
