Honestly this litter box is good but i dont recommended because alot of cat afraid go inside. I recommended neakasa m1 no worry about your cat afraid or not because open on top litter box.
Yes, but... A standard 13 gallon kitchen trash bag will work; however, you must split the back of it a bit and tape it to the litter receptacle tray so it doesn't cover the magnetic sensor on the back of the tray. The device that automatically closes the trash bag when you open the tray is designed to waste bags/make you buy more of their bags. On my model t is easily dismantled by removing a few screws and the unit functions better without it because when the receptacle tray is about half full you must redistribute the used litter that is piles up on the left side of the tray. If they use Litter gets too high it "rakes off" when you pull out the tray making a huge mess inside of the cavity where the tray sits. Ours started to malfunction when it was about eight months old.
We use Tidy Cats Light weight, it's a clay-based litter. The clump sticks together very well which is necessary but they also stick to the liner of the box if you have a side pee-er or a large cat who doesn't have room to get his rear farther from the side wall.
