for an insanely long time when i was younger, i didnt know anything about the real cooking mama and thought this was an original game, i did not know it was made by peta.
i love how there's literally always been vegan/vegetarian options in cooking mama games, the game isn't forcing you to make the meat recipes besides, being vegan doesn't mean you can't make fictional meat dishes lmao, am so confused by their thought process
As a kid, i actually played the peta version first and just assumed cooking mama was this violent game because i never heard of the actual cooking mama until now.

Bc they're dumb and uneducated. They released thousands of lobsters into freshwater, killing them, since lobsters are saltwater creatures they all died

@@ikedaren_29336 They're not going after poachers or people who just kill animals and discard the bodies. They're going after people who kill animals because we, as a species, need to consume sustenance to survive and, as omnivores, we've evolved a need to eat meat (for the most part). I don't even think it's fair to call PETA's actions noble in concept, because they aren't. They don't understand how life on this planet functions; how one species keeps another's population size in check. I know PETA tends to focus on slaughterhouses, but we all know that they'd lash out at hunters if asked about it. Hell, they probably have at some point. I live in the North-East of the United States of America -- the Tri-State Area. Up here, especially over in Connecticut and farther upstate in New York, deer are extremely common. If not for hunting season, they'd be even more common and they'd start to overpopulate. We are their natural predators in that aspect. Ceasing seasonal hunting of deer would do more harm to the environment than it would good.

I actually really liked this game growing up, and the shock value tactic desensitized me to the blood and gore of killing and cooking animals. So PETA's aim backfired spectacularly.
i never actually played the game by myself but i do remember watching a gameplay video of the game only now i realised it was a parody game, not an actual game
I remember playing this game with my friends as kids. We were drawn to it BECAUSE of the violence and shock value. Which makes me think... Who are these games for? Did PETA want to convince children to go vegan? Because that message gets completely lost with children.

As a child, this game was my childhood. The blood and gore did gross me out but at the same time, did desensitize me to things alike. The gameplay was entertaining enough that it kept me coming back though. The message about the killing animals thing flew over my head entirely lol.
I used to play this as a child, like the whole game. I thought it was cool, and never actually realized about the whole vegan thing. Nowadays I eat mostly meat but recently I started eating a small selection of vegetables for health reasons. I just found it pretty funny how PETA failed to convince me, a simpleminded child into becoming vegan. Actually a similar case with their Pokemon games too, I never realized what they were doing with the message of the game and thought "Oh! Edgy stuff, haha."
me too, i didnt understand that the games were supposed to turn you vegan. i used to love pokemon black and blue as well as this version of cooking mama. in fact i used to believe this version was the original
I remember seeing a RU-vidr playing PETA's game when I was really young, and it scarred me for life. I grew up thinking Cooking Mama was a horrible and graphic game where you kill animals, it wasn't until some years ago I learnt what the game really was. Thanks PETA for the useless trauma lol.

When I was younger, I played that come (on y8, a site where peta couldn't get me with those age restricted videos) and actually enjoyed it. Not because I am on the side of peta, it was mostly because I just thought it was how you normally prepare a turkey. Overall, that game just encouraged me to prepare turkeys with my mom!
3:00 literally had a coding class that had you do something where you cover things with a background to make it look normal without a random thing poking through, so you covered a giant shape with something the same color as the background over the thing, and then you got credit, clearly they never knew of such a "supremely complex" coding thing that took me about 5 seconds to understand once i noticed it.
@@jenniferarmstrong5271 i got kind of lost reading it too, basically I'm saying they don't understand how to properly cover up something too large with a second thing that matches the background to make it invisible, i'm pretty sure at least, i don't entirely remember what i was yapping about last year
I do genuinely like that peta felt the need to do this yet literally in the version on the Nintendo switch there is a vegetarian option if you don't wanna cook the regular meals How bored do you have to be literally
There's also plenty of vegetarian recipes throughout the normal games too, so even if the switch game is from after this game was made, they were complaining about something that wasn't even valid

Oh, the memories. Used to play this PETA rip-off when we were kids. Jokes on PETA tho - we loved playing this with no clue about what it says, just the concept of cooking game was enough to get us play this repeatedly. Edit: Love to see the amount of people who believed this was original as well.
Bruh same, I thought cooking mama was supposed to be violent. I played it on my phone, without knowing what the real thing was. I then saw the REAL cooking mama, and was confused.

same! i was young and genuienly thought it was a real cooking mama game, id forgotten about it and this is the first time im hearing its not a cooking mama game and that it was infact a peta parody. SMH PETA do more harm than good IMO
i played this game as a 7 year old in one of those flash games websites, i was confused by how aggressive and bloody it was, i didn't know the original cooking mama, so i just thought "damn, i guess the devs of this game really don't like turkeys" 😂
I played this game when I was a kid and thought it was the actual cooking mama. needless to say I was horrified and scared to play any cooking mama games or watch anything about them for years. Now I know my childhood fears were Peta’s fault
ok i actually NEVER knew that there was an "original" cooking mama game. i was fooled to think the peta knock-off was the original one! which sucks because the OG looks so much nicer than what i had been used to seeing, and it seems like the peta version is what's saturated the browsing feed for me
@@CLOYO eh, im gen Z. i think. doesnt help that i was like, obsessed with "horror" games. i think since this game freaked so many people out, it just kept popping up as part of the horror genre. im into actual cooking videos now so im seeing a bit more variety in shows and games
The same thing happened to me- I'd never heard of Cooking Mama and I thought this was the original. Every time I see cooking mama ads I can't help but think about the Peta one...
I remember playing this game when I was little with my aunt, we had stumbled upon it when we were using our old computer. Honestly, we had no knowledge about Peta or the purpose of making this game, and all what we did was laughing at it because we thought someone made it as a joke, And if I remember well, I told my aunt that I wanted to eat chicken after we finished the game Oh, and one more thing, neither of us spoke English at the time so we ignored all the writing and thankfully wr didn't get the message they were trying to send.
You know what would've been more convincing? A Cooking Mama clone that showcases a handful of vegan recipes and how they're prepared. I'd be willing to bet one of the main sticking points with people who are willing to consider going veg or vegan is the concern that it'll mean a life of cold vegetables and faken bacon. If you showcase a set of eight recipies, like curry on rice, homemade veggie burgers, or vegan chocolate chip cookies, you'd have a much more impactful game, and you won't even have to torture unsuspecting children to do it.
100% more effective. I remember coming across a vegans social media account, and her food looked amazing. She had tacos(which are pretty tasty), stir fry, and other foods. Personally wouldn’t switch, but PETA fumbled their chance like they always do.
It especially pisses me off when they put unskippable videos of animal abuse randomly in their garbage games. Children do not deserve to see that shit. Showing that to children will not change anything.

They target children a lot. I remember in 2010 or so they were handing out fake McDonald's packages to kids specifically that were full of fake blood and shit.
Literally, PETA has a track record for traumatizing kids. They handed out GRAPHICALLY Violent comic books to children of women wearing fur coats outside of a production of the Nutcracker at Christmas time
I found a gameplay on RU-vid. Being a very sheltered kid, it scared the shit out of me. Not enough to stop eating meat though. The vegan option looked weird, and I was too dumb to make the connection between a gorey turkey and chicken nuggets.
I love how the bird is bleeding as if we were the one who “murdered” it 😂😂 like the more likely scenario here would be that a person making thanksgiving dinner would buy an already-butchered bird that’s already been drained and cleaned. There are so many meat-related rules and regulations to ensure that the meat we eat is safe and clean. PETA just loves to make meat-eaters look absolutely unclean and barbaric like all we do is drink animal blood and eat animal organs. Smh

I love how everybody played this game as a child and enjoyed making the turkey from scratch. I played it every year around Thanksgiving even though our computer was slow.
Thanks to this game I could develop the guts to tolerate gore or general gross stuff. My mom enjoyed it and people of my class in 4th grade thought it was cool for me to pass the game without crying lol
It's worse when you play a game which you never knew was "copied", tried to 100%/speedrun it, and didn't know it was by Peta because it was on a different site (yes people do this)
Standing here, I realize... I was a very weird kid, I loved this simulator more than the normal cooking games. Early 2000's flash games made this look normal

Sometimes I feel like PETA actually loves gore and abuse, but they throw the responisbility on everyone else, or find an excuse to create games like these
I remember when I was a kid, I never had a Nintendo DS, I only played with it when I was with my friends and cousins and they had Cooking Mama on it, I really loved that game so I went to search it on flashgame websites hoping to find a playable version to play on my parents' PC. A game named "Cooking Mama Kills Animals" appeared (english isn't my native language so I didn't understand what "kills animals" meant), I was so happy I could finally play Cooking Mama even if I didn't have a DS! Needless to say, I got scared shitless. I fuckin hate PETA.
WTF I remember playing this as a kid LMAO. My first Cooking Mama, didn't even know it was a rip-off. Didn't even know Cooking Mama was supposed to be kid-friendly.
Oh, I remember playing it as a child in early 2010s. Surprised that it was made by PETA, since it look like typical gore flash game of that time. The funniest thing is that this game is one of the reasons why I tolerate gore and can enjoy it to a certain point. So yeah, their shock contet worked in opposite way
"You know you can eat meat and love animals at the same time, right PETA?" I'm guessing PETA's perspective is that it's irony that we love animals, but don't feel bad when we eat them. That doesn't justify their past actions and we don't support them, but I kinda get where they're coming from. Still, nothing of value would be lost if we nuked them off the face of the Earth. And David Attenborough's magic made us fall in love with other creatures whether we're meat-eaters or not. We don't eat every animal, and sometimes you can't help but just appreciate the wildlife that nature has to offer.
It’s food. Like, to each their own. Also, having a personal relationship with the animal changes thing. Same thing with people dying. You don’t care until it either scares you, or you have a personal relationship with it.
Not to mention they don’t even go for something helpful like deforestation, or government regulation laws. They go for the people who eat it, and pet owners 🙄
@@dilaisy_loone2846 which I disliked about some company's that just judge a book by its cover and not read the actual backgrounds of the persons life living and how they treat their own animals, like, imagine they try to stop a laughter house that literally produces meat that is "Treated" not like using a bat and beat the crap out of some animals, or farmers that grow their own foods or sell as fresh produce. But this is my point of view opinion is all (no hate pls 😥)
I actually had fun playing this game. I didn't think or have gotten the message of the game when I was young. It definitely didn't make me change my mind on becoming vegan and nothing is changing my mind now

The Cooking Mama game that was made by Peta is literally the first Cooking Mama game I've played. It traumatized me and everytime I see cooking mama, I literally thought of her being that brutal and merciless mama from Peta. Damn you Peta, damn you.
i went to a birthday party and played this with some random kids once lol. the best part is that none of us realized that this was supposed to scare us into veganism, we just liked the game because of how disgusting/violent it was😭😭

Its weird that i always thought that this version was the OG, and i actually loved the idea that Cooking Mama was a gore scary game where you crudely made nasty foods. It was such a cliché but fun game
I remember seeing a play-through of this game when I was like- 6 and I was TERRIFIED of Mama afterwards. I remember this game way more violent and bloody and that was the main reason why I was scared of cooking mama. After a few years I watched how JaidenAnimations set a world record for the game and I was able to see one of the actual games, so I asumed the game I watched was a creepy pasta. I never expected this game to be a rip off from Peta, Im so happy I found this and found out the truth! And you were totally right with "this would give kids trauma!" Im the living evidence for it..Also, great Video!

@@Vick_or_somethin it did have meat recipes but it surprised me they made an entire game based on it just because it had a few meat recipes in it. I Don't remember seeing all that many animal related dishes. I saw a lot of noodles, dumplings and other non animal food. The game just showed you a big variety of food in general. I remember most to be vegetarian

I hate how PETA makes it look like eating meat at all is bad. It’s how the animals are farmed. I freaking love meat, but I would 110% rather get it from an independent farmer that treated the animal well its entire life and put it to death ethically, than get it from one of the big farms that kinda just XP grinds the animals.
I actually played this one as a VERY young kid while browsing one of those bootleg websites that mass reupload tons of flash games. Of course I was like 5 at the time, I didn't get what was happening, I didn't know it was a parody game and I didn't even know what cooking mama was. All these years, whenever I saw something about cooking mama all I could think about was "I distinctly remember playing a game that looked exactly like this, but was very grotesque and in poor taste", but I could never figure out where that weirdly specific thought came from until I watched this, and it all came back.
Did you think it was in poor taste as an adult, or was that your opinion as a kid? Because if it's the latter, then kid you most likely played enough games to have a standard. (I'd also say that kid you had a good detector for BS but our mindset when it comes to games tend to be different when we grow up)
This was the only Cooking With Mama game I saw younger and thought all of them were like this. I enjoyed watching it and then got mad when it changed to the second part

I actually played this when I was 10 years old, and believe it or not it was my jam, I was so focused on getting those perfect score and was far from "traumatized" nor did I turn into a vegan, in a child's eyes, it's simply just a fun game
I thought the “evil cooking mama” was attractive even at ten lmaooo. The graphics were so cartoonish i just thought it was a cool fan game lol goodness that was all a decade ago oof
