Great thought, especially when you consider that there are three Beatles alive today.

You would think that would have happened in 93 when the Anthology was released. That was the first time that Pete received any royalties for music released by the band. I would have thought that the 3 Beatles or at least one of them would have met up with Pete.

I'm behind that. While Ringo sings upfront, Pete can take over on drums. We can't pretend the past didn't exist.

I agree.... but there is one thing Pete will never get into his head..... Ringo was (and is) a FAR better drummer. Pete had his place in the very very early days but (as George Harrison said) history has shown that Ringo was THE ONE for that group.

And the fact he made a career out of getting kicked out of The Beatles

@@Brammy007a In August 1962? No. Best developed the Atom Beat. Best needed a quality drum kit for sure. His kit was falling apart.

I get what your saying but there are quite a few who played in the Beatles. Unfortunately Pete was never a Beatle even though he played with them in the early part of their career.

A) they were teens and young adults who had to travel the world and do lots of drugs B) but the mid to late 90s “The Beatles” made Pete a multi millionaire AFTER he retired from a real job because of Beatles Anthology. While I do agree, it would be special for charity or something if Paul and ringo jammed one day together for fun and hug each other

Bryan kick them out of the band because he couldn’t put up with his mother Mona. She kept calling and calling and calling and telling Brian to put Pete’s drums out in front of the band. So he cut off the head of the dog.

@@paulweston285 Pete did the original recording, but Ringo was on the UK single release. He had only been with the band two weeks. The album & US single was done by Andy White, because apparently McCartney wasn't happy with the timing. But it was Ringo all the way otherwise.

Ringo missed a tour due to him being sick.

Steven Adler from Guns n Roses has an entire career for being in guns.

They were already achieving some success with Pete on drums, but they wouldn't have become a worldwide sensation with him.

avoiding that kind of fame might've been a blessing. He was also a celebrity to Beatle super fans, but he got to live relatively normal life.

That's very strange because with Pete Best as their drummer, they had a huge fan base and ,in fact,as far back as January,1962, topped the polls, and were the Number One band in all of Liverpool.

They desperately needed a drummer for Hamburg, hence Pete coming in. Like anything in life, if something better comes along later on, you would obviously go for it.

@@mazza8576 They needed a drummer in August 1960 , to go to Hamburg. And like I already stated, well over a year later, with Pete Best still their drummer, they are the top band in Liverpool. Furthermore- George Martin himself never wanted Pete Best thrown out of the group. He wanted Pete Best to remain in the official line up. Only in the studio would they use a session drummer.

Not when he sued the Beatles at least once or twice.

Come off it, the Beatles would have been huge whoever was Drummer. It was about the lyrics and melodies and singing. As John Lennon said when asked if Ringo was the best drummber in the world. Ringo wasnt even the best drummer in the Beatles.

@@bieituns ummmm... dubious. the industry at the time had a definite standard of quality that mr best wasn't even close to. best has been proven to be unable to keep time over a 2 minute song . had best been so great, another liverpool band would have swept him up. he was inept - perhaps he has improved since, but in 1963? completely inadequate.

@@bieituns I get the whole "he wasn't the best durmmer in the Beatles" is in jest (I hope), but let's give this little joke some validity for the sake of fun. First off, who was a better drummer in the group do you think? I couldn't even picture John or George on the sticks. The only other member who could use a set was Paul, and from his repertoire, I can't say I was ever as in awe with his drumming as I was with Ringo's. Paul plays drums on The Ballad of John and Yoko and the drumming on that song is so drab and uninspired, so much so that it's actually the only aspect of that song which I don't like. Ringo was not just a technically astute drummer, he was also like a human metronome, always on beat. But what truly set him apart was how absolutely ingenius he was. With his cheeky little fills and varied style of playing, he ultimately gave each Beatles song a new dimension and a sense of depth. Take any of these songs for reference and tell me that Ringo and Ringo's style of playing doesn't improve them: Rain Come Together She Said She Said Hello Goodbye I Want You (She's So Heavy) I Feel Fine A Day In The Life Tomorrow Never Knows

moonbeamskies - It would have been a waste of time, Pete quit full time drumming in the 60s to do manual shift work before becoming a civil servant.

When you listen to the Drumming on Abbey Road you realise Pete could never approach that standard. He couldn't;'t keep a beat then.There is a video on here proving that

@@robg8784 Nah, George Martin just didn't want Pete anywhere near the studio, he could play at live gigs, but not recording. It was mainly George Harrison who wanted Pete out, and the other agreed.
