Listened to Pete early 70's on WWWE...i recall he was on from 7 pm till midnight every night except when cavs played or the hockey team.....He was one in a million back in the day, todays talk show hosts area dime a dozen.....Those were the days!
Har. Probably. He had his regular callers who would call in and joust with him. My favorite was a guy who called himself The Piranha. He had a great voice and I think was a former radio play-by-play guy.
I live in New Jersey, but listened some to Pete a bunch of times. Depended on how WWWE was coming in that night. He did have a regular caller who called himself swami, right? Or is my memory playing tricks? If that caller did exist, is that you? Remember how he used to have pigskin Pete predicts for his football picks? I think I also remember hearing swami predicts. Maybe he let swami do some picks at times. That is a vague recall. though. Unlike pigskin Pete predicts. That I know I heard numerous times.
You're right on all counts. One of Pete's regular callers was the swami, who made sports picks. He was pretty accurate. Pigskin Pete gave his NFL picks on Friday nights. He preceded all of his picks with a sounder that went "Pigskin Pete predicts!"
@@swami1 Thanks for the reply. And the way I remember it, the same sounder/voice that said Pigskin Pete predicts also said swami predicts. I'l test my memory some more. Correct me is this is wrong. He would come on saying that his show was heard in 38 states and half of Canada. Second, this is how he closed his show. My time is up, thank you for your time.
@@swami1 Now that you mention it that sure rings a bell. I was a lot more likely to hear the end of the show instead of the beginning. Unless he came on after a game. I think he was 7 to midnight and 7 was generally too early for me to get reception. I guess he went to New York for the money, but it sure didn't work out careerwise. Another thing I remember about WWWE is how Joe Tait would read the entire stat sheet after the game. Every player, both teams, their entire line. Minutes played, what they shot from the floor and free throw line, rebound, assists, etc, etc. Only basketball announcer I ever heard do that..
