I love when comedians break down the intricacies of the art and the relationship a performer has with their crowd It feels like comedians are hyper sensitive to talking about that on podcasts because they think we as the listener think it’s pretentious. Keep talking about it! I and many others love it.

Glad you touched on Kobe, I was wondering your thoughts and feelings on it knowing you're a big fan of the game. And this just answered the question about the intros, I think it's great that you give some one on one insight speaking directly to the listener. It helps us get to know you even more and I'm sure there are a lot of people that appreciate it. I also don't think you have to worry if something is supposed to be serious or funny. Just go with how you feel in the moment. As pod listeners we want to go along for the ride, to get to know you and the guests more, whatever the dynamic of that day and conversation is. I really love this podcast and always feel closer to it since I've been listening since the beginning. KEEP DOING YOU BABBIDEE BOO #ohyeaaaa

Hey Rick. Long-time, first-time. I love the intros, and I also love when the show lets itself be serious when it wants to be. Not everything is a joke and everyone isn't always funny. Nor do I want them to be. Mixing jokes with "real talk" gives the podcast range and it reminds me that you and your guest are real people - which, in turn, makes me like you all the more. I appreciate that you give as much thought as you do to stuff like this though, it's definitely seen. And as someone who edits a podcast myself (biweekly and audio only, not even close to how much you do), it's clear that the amount of time and effort you put into the show is tremendous. But - like you do too, I'm sure - I genuinely think it's a part of what makes TYSO so great and keeps me coming back every episode, even when I don't know/care who the guest is. That's a long way to say thank you for your work. P.S. - I prefer to be called a #TYSOgoblin rather than a #glassmanbopper but, either way, I'm glad to be one.

Thanks for this podcast Rick. Not only is it just hilarious but it shows me a few things. There is hope for those on the spectrum to lean into it and shine, there’s more people struggling with things out of their control than we realize, and people don’t have to feel disenfranchised because of a diagnosis; we each can decide how far we let it dictate our lives. You’re a genius .

This was my first TYOS ep, and I really liked it a lot. Your editing style is really entertaining, and also useful for putting a face on name-drops, term definitions, etc. And Pete is just the ultimate podcast guest, never seen a pod from him I didn't love. You also make some great observations about why that is, which I had never thought about before. All around 10/10, new sub well earned!

Concerning having to lose to know how to win, I always felt that from the brilliant genius song DREAM ON by Aerosmith. I first became interested in Pete Holmes because he reminded me a lot of the late John Ritter, and I loved John Ritter, especially growing up watching Three's Company as a kid. I remember watching Dane Cook's special when it first aired and it was something I'd never seen before and it was so funny, but it's really the only time I ever saw him be funny since.

I like how Pete Holmes describes how the negative feelings and impulses are like a tumor. I think the same way, that there are 2 parts of the mind, the conscious mind, which is me thinking things, having goals, wanting to do things and the subconscious mind which has the feelings, emotions and instincts, which affect my actions, this can be like a tumor out of control and take control over my actions. In my conscious mind I want to eat healthy, I want to work out. My subconscious mind is the part that's craving foods, being lazy etc. Having a lot of willpower is having a strong consciousness which has control over the subconsciousness. When I'm doing something that I don't value or don't want or like, it's me not having enough control and my subconscious being in control. Then I feel like things like meditation will increase the control the conscious mind has. As the times I do meditate, I get more done, I work out more, I eat less junk food etc. It's basically getting a grip (of my self), and losing grip appears when there are too many strong emotions that can take control over the entire body.

@29:08 While D# is a note, you should refer to it as Eb. D# would create an artificial scale in notation (it doesn’t have a key signature/it has 9 augmentations in it’s key signature which isn’t easily/ever notated). Eb on the other hand does have a useable key signature (3 flats). The context of saying D# is entirely dependent on augmenting some given scale degree in a separate key signature or chord voicing. For instance augmenting the tonic chord in D major by raising the first diatonic scale degree would be referred to as a D#. (:
