I agreed with you man Pete Rose should be in the hall of fame he was not on steroids and he has the numbers and He should be given a second chance nobody perfect
Besides all the statistics , what always amazed me about Pete Rose was the fact that he played all out every game and NEVER missed a ballgame . Most players who go full tilt all the time-if there are any- inevitably spend a lot of time on the DL . Rose was the toughest SOB that I ever had the privilege of watching .
He played for 25 years. If he never missed a game he would have crushed Lou Gehrig's streak of most consecutive games played. I think he missed some games.
His playing career deserves Hall of Fame induction. Put him in the Hall but not allow him to coach or be a manager. That is where his betting happened. Not his playing career. Rose to the Hall!!!
randy rogers Not now. Now that we know he broke the cardinal rule of baseball as a player by betting. He should never be reinstated. Put him in the Hall after he is dead.
@@roland7584 What you are missing is that a RULE is no different than a LAW. Surely even you would acknowledge that fact ? Why are Politicians allowed to break the your so called laws, yet absolutely mii oh thing is done. If you want examples, read about Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Barrack Hussein O’Scumbag Obama, Pathetic Joe Biden…Etc, Etc..Take your rule and shove right up your Democrat, Hypocritical, Ass.
A fellow lifelong Cub fan agrees w you completely! I watched on t.v. as Pete tied Cobb's record, at Wrigley, on 9-8-85, and the Cub fans gave him a two minute standing O, which was Entirely appropriate! :)
Pete Rose was one of the best Baseball Players I ever saw. Pete Rose made a mistake and has paid for his actions. It’s time to put Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame where Pete Rose belongs. Hands down, don’t wait until Pete passes away. Give Pete the Glory he deserves while he’s still with us. Please, enough is enough.
come on nothing.as a player he has the stats and he broke ty cobbs base hit record 2 ws rings and a hitting streak of more than 60 hits. as a player,he gets the hall numbers dont lie
Why? I am a lifetime Reds fan. Rose has never admitted the full extent of his betting and still lives in Vegas and works in a Casino. He needs to get out of Vegas. Rose got his big break due to his Uncle being a Red's scout. Otherwise, he would never have been signed by any pro team. Rose was considered a non-prospect! Personally, I wonder what I could have accomplished in pro baseball if I had Rose's opportunity!
His greatest feat is getting the Phillies their first World Series title in 1980. They had gone 97 years without one. The next to last out in Game Six of The Series was a classic Rose hustle, catching a ball that catcher Bob Boone muffed.
There's a reason why you're not allowed to bet as an active player or manager on your sport. It undermines the integrity of the game every bit as much as steroids. As Rose said himself, no one knew what he was doing. So its really only his word that he didn't bet against his team. But he once lied and denied ever even betting. Pete absolutely should be in the Hall of Fame.. except the he knowingly broke the one rule that everyone knows keeps you out.
As a lifetime Cubs fan I have plenty of reason to despise Rose. He killed us! But I'm glad I got a chance to watch him play/hustle at Wrigley. And his gambling mistakes have nothing to do with him being the best hitter I ever saw. Put Pete Rose in the HOF!!
There are players in the Hall of Fame who used anabolic steroids Human Growth Hormones etc Many of them are a disgrace to baseball Baseball is ruined now says anyway The fans who sit and eat talk on stupid phones never even played stickball
Rose, the historian, says MLB is "ticklish" about gambling on baseball. He's being disingenuous when he says that. He knows damn well that MLB considers gambling toxic and betting on baseball radioactive. His arguement seems to be that the rules are important, but they should give him a pass.
James Bingham no he’s not saying that at all. He’s saying he’s been banned for 29 years when steroid users miss 2 months. He’s done the time for his crime.
@@Jiff321 Rule 21 says it all about gambling. It was pretty obvious what would happen if you broke it. The history of Joe Jackson was out there. Pete knew it. He laughed at that rule as if he was bigger than the game.
Why would they leave the door open via reinstatement but not let him back in? If the reinstatement option isn't valid for Rose then who is it valid for? Should probably just let the fans vote on the issue since it's the fans who allow the league to exist at all.
Reinstatement is valid for Rose but it's not a given that anyone just gets in just because they file for reinstatement. He's a compulsive liar and every time the commissioners have asked him about his current behavior or what he did in the 80's he lies about it and they know it. Until he fully comes clean, he has no shot at reinstatement. At this point, even if he did come clean, I'm sure MLB is tired of the circus that Pete created with this whole thing, so they'll never reinstate him.
pete e rose please give the time an the fans please talk to peter hopper he blest me with everything knowledgeable aboult peat e rose happy home coming for all
The difference between Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson, is that Joe bet on games and threw games as a player. Pete bet on games, on his team to win, as a manager and not a player. Pete Rose never threw a game. He played every game to win.
or Bart Giamatti, or Fay Vincent, or Rob Manfred...or whoever is next and so on and so on. He'll never be reinstated. He disgraced the game and he is getting exactly what the rule said he should get.
Did Dan Patrick just ask Pete Rose "Who would you bet would be in the HOF first you or Barry Bonds?" Isn't that betting on baseball? Is Dan Patrick trying to get Pete Rose to bet on baseball with that question? lol
I agree with you no doubt. But what he did he did as a manager. Put the man's player career in the HOF. Nothing else has to be done after that. He could still be banned I have no problem with that. But his playing career should not be punished for the gambling he did as a manager.
I'm just about sure that we all know what is going to happen. After Pete Rose dies and is not around anymore, THEN Pete Rose will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. In my opinion the Baseball Hall of Fame will never be up to date or in other words complete until his legacy in baseball attached to his name is next to the names of the other baseball greats in the Hall of Fame. Its sad that he won't be able to enjoy it but that's the unwritten deal that we all know to well, similar such things happens in many aspects of life.
Pete is so full of BS. He bet on his team to win every night. Impossible for an MLB team to win every game of the season. Pete you have a gambling problem. You lied for all those years right to the entire country. You got caught.
"I told him to give me the Reds every night and we'd settle up at the end of the year," is a lie. He's STILL lying. Read the Dowd Report. There are multiple receipts, multiple dates, throughout the season.
