He's 30 years old here, playing 3-year old material. His genius only becomes more apparent the older you get. I always thought that had he been born in France rather than the UK his genius would have been sung to every wide open space available. Far more of a true artist than either McCartney and Lennon.

@@noodles9371 Pete was never an inmate charged with being a pedophile. He told the police what he was doing and was recorded telling them, If I could do this, so could my son. By no means do I think it was right but Pete Townshed has paid hid debt. And as much bitching Pete Townshend did about how the banks raking in the cash from those sites yet nothing was ever said... Both he & Roger Daltry still donate to their charity to help Teens with Cancer. What gets me is the British media never looked at how Big Banks, still today take in the cash for internet porn sites and they could care less how old the women are, if they're even old enough to be considered women..... They should have been the real target in that mess. Even the BBC has a half dozen or so of the stone statues that depict men with young boys but it's perfectly fine if it's the BBC... even with the public in an uproar over it, the statues still remain.... Check em out, they're sick......

Dang. I love Pete's voice, but there's something he does with a guitar that I don't think anyone else can do. He just brings it to life--there's an energy, a spiritual component to his playing & the way he can make the guitar whisper the song one minute & shout it the next. It's like the guitar comes alive for a moment when Pete plays.

he is such an underrated guitarist. I think because he played acoustic in concerts later on. The Who were very unusual, as the guitarist had to keep time. The drummer and bassist were crazy good, but would go off in opposite directions. He kept it together. This sounds like about three guitars

After listening to the WHO, and watching videos, I saw the Who in person for the first time in 2007. The first time the Who ever played in the state and the arena was about a third full. But they were incredible. Roger was recovering from laryngitis, but somehow managed to sound great. But for two hours, Pete attacked his guitar with maniacal ferocity, seemingly hitting every note with perfect tone and timing. All these great musician's on stage; Roger (twirling his mic), Ringo's son, Pete's brother, and Pino Palladino; and I couldn't take may eyes off this guy's hands. Incredible! And I have always listened to the Who for the songwriting.

Total genius, when I hear Quadrophenia, I'm standing in front of the Palace Pier in Brighton, its 1964 and the Mods are invading, I'm 18 again and life's good. Yes, Pete has the power to transport you, to get into your mind, to give you the answers, and appeal to young and old alike. What's the quote - The Who was a band with a lead singer, a lead guitarist, a lead bass and a lead drummer... When Joe Walsh and The James Gang were the opening act for The Who for several stops on their 1970 US tour, Joe Walsh later stated that he became friends with Pete and Pete taught him the techniques for being both the lead and rhythm guitar at the same time...you can hear a lot of similarities there. In my fantasy supergroup, Pete is THE best rhythm guitarist of all time, bar none.

Never seen this, thanks to whoever for putting it on.This is partly what makes The Who such an incredible outfit. Pete could have been a sort of hard-core folky in a solo stylie but as things would have it he had the most powerful rhythm and bass section and a sheet metal worker to brilliantly belt out his lyrics. Remember old Ronnie Lane too. He brought Pete and Clapton together for an album a year later. Rough Mix. Charlie Watts on some tracks and quite a few others too. Blinder
