It is isn’t it, I saw Qantas have dusted it off again ,but they wreck it ( by having voice overs) . It makes me very emotional when I hear it . A simply brilliant song. It is the only song that gets me in the guts. I have been lucky enough to do some travelling, i always am glad that Australia is home!

Too bad Qantas has never (to my knowledge) featured Peter in their commercials or campaigns.

@@TheMusicMagicofPeterAllen I think this came up at the time. Whoever had the rights for those videos would not allow Qantas to use them , however Qantas had bought the rights to use the song in its advertising.

They started using the song while he was still alive so it seems like they could have featured him in one of their commercials unless he didn't want to do it. However, he was in the commercials and sang "I Still Call Australia Home" for National Panasonic in the 80s!

I remember hearing this in 1980 and can still say I listen to it in 2023 with pride. Peter did us all a great tribute by giving us this song.

That's okay! This song has so much beauty, strength, and magic that it can make anyone from anywhere get emotional. His other song about Australia called "Bryden's Song" is a sad song because he asks children that he'll never see to remember him when they sing about Australia after he's gone.

Gorgeous classic always a highlight of any Peter Allen concert, enjoyed the great performer many times early 70's through late 80's too short a time for one of the greatest ever, glad performances like this were beautifully filmed for everyone to savor and enjoy...

I love Tenterfield. We used to stay with relatives at Sandy Hills about 36K out on Bruxner highway every year in January. I just had a wonderful week there with my cousin. Now I can go into Tenterfield Saddlery and buy poems written by my Uncle Tim.

I still tear up every time I see him sing it . No other song & performer has ever done that . I am just not emotional but this magical song sung by him makes me emotional. I am Australian & I have traveled.
