As a person who lives in a place with tons of boating ramps, this is hilariously accurate. When you can’t back the boat in and a line starts to form behind you it is absolutely embarrassing and every second feels like an hour. You can feel the other people’s eyes burning a hole right through you. The only thing missing was Peter getting into a fight with some guy because no joke, I have seen fist fights on boat landings more than once.

A quick trick for anyone who is curious as to how you maneuver something you are towing when backing up. When going in reverse place your hand on the bottom of your steering wheel. Then move your hand in the direction you want the boat to go. For example, if you want the boat to go right, then move your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel towards the right.(This obviously makes the steering wheel turn left, which would be the correct maneuver).

You're complicating things. It's better to just understand the trailer will move the opposite way of the back of the vehicle, rather than relying on some silly hand positioning system. Concepts are always superior to rote learning.
It's the understanding of backing that some people just cant understand. I was in school with people that struggled all the way untill test day. But yeah, a straight back is almost impossible to fuck up

I love this kinda scenes. Unnecessarily long, very well animated (no repeated frames, or not a lot) and that awkward silence, broke in this scene but present in some others like when Carter wrecked a bank or when Peter gashed a whale
Bkrites I once worked with a guy who drove for them and he couldn't even drive our bobtail, I could only imagine the havoc he caused driving a trailer lol
I usually get into discord calls while having my screen broadcasting Family Guy funny moments by default and I remember for one reason or another I was just mentally checked out and had this being broadcasted while in that state, and what ended up happening was that while I was in the background of a conversation watching this giggling because I was mentally checked out, I just genuinely actually burst into laughter when Peter drove into the water and someone else in the call was wondering what I was laughing about, and to their chagrin they check the discord itself to see what I'm broadcasting and say "Oh it's fucking Family Guy."
i love these long scenes where they pretty accurately map out the thought processes involved in one of these situations, if i was peter here i'd have probably done a similar set of reverses and rotations in a similar order to how they were here, nice attention to detail imo
What gets me is that he backed up just fine at the beginning. He obviously did well enough to turn around and align the boat, car, and ramp before the actual parking.
Put one hand on the bottom of steering wheel. Extend thumb. If you want the boat to go in the direction of your thumb move wheel in that direction. If you want the boat to go in the opposite direction of your thumb move steering wheel in that direction.
