I could listen to Peter talk about Doctor Who forever. Anybody else just get a nice warm feeling when he talks about the show?

Yes he is a legend. Interesting choices as I agree with the last episode of Frontier and Ark in Space is just brilliant (side note: at the time bubble wrap was completely new so we didn't back then watch it and go oh that's bubble wrap). Then he selects The Web Planet (or parts of) and I can see his logic but it is the one and only story I have never been able to sit through till the end - well until Chibnall took control. He is such a lovely man and I thought his Doctor was just brilliant.

The Mind Robber, The Daemons and The Brain of Morbius are also some fantastic stories. I love Capaldi's passion for the old show, I wish more people were as enthuastic about it as him. :)

What's nice about this is that he got to see the original cybermen himself in 'World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls'.

I completely agree with what he says about The Web Planet. It was the most imaginative, ambitious Doctor Who story up to that point, the budget was just immensely low.

Frontier in space was the very first classic who story I ever saw. Back in 2005 just after series 1 had finished converting me into a whovian. It's still one of mŷ favourites. I'd love to see the draconians return in new who one day.

Its a damn shame these little segments are only 90 seconds or so each, it would be very interesting to see him articulate his feelings on classic serials without being rushed into such tiny segments

I honestly love the Zarbi. The web planet holds a special place in my heart. I remember watching it when i was a kid in 2003 on the ABC reruns and it was honestly the most memorable story.

YAY! He loves the 3rd Doctor as much as I do! :) Jon Pertwee to me was The coolest and most fashionable Doctor ever. He had so many things on the show that he made. 3 Different Sonic Screwdrivers, Bessie, and the Whomobile. :D

***** Moffat doesn't write for a A Doctor, he writes for THE Doctor... the definitive article, you might say.

***** You're talking about multiple portrayals, I'm explaining why the latest few haven't been that different. Compare 2009 Tennant to 2013 Tennant.

The Web Planet is kind of underrated. The first episode is pretty creepy, and the Animus is really quite impressive. It's terribly overlong, though, is filled with bizarre acting choices, and it does contain a scene in which one of the Zabi bashes into the camera...

The first episode was pretty good but honestly after that it just bored me.

HowlingSnail I think all the money went on the Animus.

I don't think money was the issue, at least for me. I just found everything past episode 1 incredibly boring.

Loved The Tenth Planet, Power of the Daleks, Frontier in Space, Planet of the Daleks, and The Ark in Space. Liked The Web Planet, but it wasn't what I would call a favorite of mine. I sometimes forget how much I liked Frontier in Space until I watch it again or a video like this reminds me of it.

Great choices from Pete! I always thought Web Planet is unfairly maligned. Watch it after a few pints and it’s trippy 😢 and very bold. I’m sad that Capaldi didn’t get a decent show runner during his era and had only a handful of decent stories. He tried hard with lousy scripts and muddled characterisation.

In my opinion, if you dislike The Web Planet, you do not truly appreciate Doctor Who
@James-gc5if
@James-gc5if 3 года назад
@@zoewells3160 So you're gatekeeping Doctor Who, meaning if I don't like a particular story you happen to like, I'm not really a fan? Yeah, but no, that's not how it works, Zoe. Actually, I have gained a new appreciation for 'The Web Planet' after having watched one of those reacts channels while a bit drunk; seeing the story through her eyes was a little bit like the Doctor seeing the universe anew through the eyes of his companions. It was a product of its time: low budget, the constraints of a tiny studio, and possible some good old fashioned 60s psychedelic substance use. Anyway, it has its charms, but I'd still much prefer that the epic 'Marco Polo' or 'The Myth Makers' had been saved instead.
