Peter had been solo for a few years already when Ace was starting his band Frehley's Comet. Peter was ready for a team up with Ace. But Ace probably wanted to try and make it on his own and do it without any collaboration from an x-Kiss member. What ever he reason, now we know that Ace didnt offer the gig to Peter.
Don't forget Peter gruff singing style was a big part of the kiss sound.I remember it was Hard Luck Woman on 45 that I first bought. And Black Diamond a song that defined early kiss depended on Peters voice. Most the girls loved Peter the most cause of Beth and his heavy "umpa-chunka" drumming was the best that drove their music ! All fans know all albums up to Love Gun were the best with Dynasty managing to pull off a disco orientated hit "I was made for Loving You"and unmasked having some catchy tunes but signaling that Kiss was changing.
@Craig From Black Oak Arkansas to Now .. Tommy is a Beast and Iv Seen Him at Drum Clinic's ect ... And Im a Huge Fan Of His as Well As Carl Palmer & R.I.P Cozy Powell... I Concur What You Said . Cheers !! 😷
Ace really didn't want Peter in his band. Ace knew of Peter's issues and was perfectly happy allowing Paul and Gene to handle Peter. But when it came down to it Ace voted Peter out of the band as well. That tells you all you need to know
I saw them live in 1979, but it was kickass awesome seeing them on the Reunion tour. I saw them many times in between 1979 and 1996, but it was beyond thrilling to me that they reunited. I was psyched to have the original KISS back!
Same here!! I was so thankful when they got back together. I was 3 in 78 and absolutely took to this band like no other and they will go down as my favorite band all time. I was so fortunate I got to see them on Reunion, Psycho Circus.
These dudes have railroaded each other for 50 years. Lol. So many clips of each member saying terrible things about each other and so many clips of them praising one another. My conclusion is that if you’re not fond of someone, you walk away, ignore and never mention them. Kiss doesn’t really do that so I think they still care for one another much more than they convey in these type of interviews.
If Peter and Ace never got strung out on drug's and booze, they would have made better career choices. Saying all that after the fact means nothing. They did overcome their problems and forged ahead and made each other millions again. Glad I saw their first reunion.
@@PetesCDVinylWorld - Unmasked flopped because of no hit. Dynasty was almost exactly the same but I Was Made was a huge hit worldwide yet Dynasty only sokd 2M copies vs other artists selling 5-10M copies. As Paul has said if you rely on hit songs you're only as good as your last hit and this is proof
They would have been fucked even if they were stone sober. Let's face it, we all love Peter but the dude really couldn't write a song If you put a gun to his head. He had a great voice but what good is a great voice without great songs? I couldn't imagine Ace being a chart-topper during the height of 80s hair metal. Heavy Music was starting to go a different way and modern rock / hair metal was more about aesthetics. And not the kind of aesthetics Ace was known for
Nope not Ace. Only Peter had that deal cause they wanted him out so badly and wanted him to go smoothly and not make waves, bad publicity etc. Ace was bought out (eventually) when he quit, but he didnt a retain a full share of the partnership, like Peter did.
@@waltruether Peter did get a sweet deal, although they called it a "firing" he was not really fired. I don't know anyone who gets fired and continues to get paid for several years. Peter really could have said, "No, I am an equal member and not going anywhere", but he didn't, which is why they gave him a sweet deal to get him to leave!
@@JENDALL714 no-he was fired. TWICE. Peter only retained his partnership cause they wanted him to go quietly and not make a fuss in the press. They were still huge and wanted to retain the image of ‘all for one and one for all’. Plus, I believe Bill Aucoin had a personal affection for Peter and wanted to see him treated fairly. As for Peter ‘refusing to be fired’ it doesn’t work that way-he was part of a partnership and the other partners voted him out. Period.
This interview happened about a couple years before the Star Magazine hoax, where imposter Christopher Dickinson pretended to be a homeless Peter Criss.
Petey Criss angry?? Shocking! Weird how despite being such a "great drummer", he was never asked to play on anyones albums or tour with anyone. You know - like Eric Singer was.
Peter was Peter. He wouldn’t tour with anyone else. Neither would Ace. Big difference between Eric and Peter. Say what you will about his skills, he was HUGE. He wouldn’t play with another group. Silly comment.
@@DavidM-mb1vx He wouldn't play with another group? That's the dumb comment. He put something together with Mark Taint John. They couldn't get signed because they sucked. If Peter was so huge, he'd have been hired shortly after getting KissKanned.
I don't know if there's anything more gratifying or hilarious then watching 70's only Kiss fans/blue kool aid drinkers bend over backwards, lie, twist and contort human logic to defend Peter Criss and his supposed abilities and importance to Kiss at every turn, then CRUCIFY him the second he says anything critical of Frehley. PRICELESS.
Hey everyone. Just listen to 74-79 and ignore these old farts. Imagine they are so old have no filter and talk shit like any other grampa would but they are also artists so they take everything to heart.
After reading a bunch of comments,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Personally I think to many people inject themselves into situations they know absolutely nothing about instead of appreciating the 50 years of great music ALL kiss members gave us and are still giving us to this very day.. Just shows how little people really are both in stature and intellect..
@@brianstrutter1501 You think people are smart?? Ya know,, There is a reason we have tags on turkey basters saying ""Not for rectal use"" and on blow dryers saying ""do not use in shower""..
Peter Criss! I love him because he's the original drummer! However... Carr & Singer were much more better... yes a very different style than Peter but to each his own...
Kiss needed them too hence the reunion was all because Kiss was tanking and woulldnt of survived the 90;s with Kulick & singer The Carnival Of souls tour would of flopped Hard
I would have liked to see the original kiss band still be together today but, it was'nt suppose to be. Why do we still talk about. Could of, should of, would of. It's over. These guys are pushing mid seventies. Rolling stones are old, do you really want to see old men trying to be young. Even the audience would be old. You can't relive your party days.
25% Gene 25% Paul 25%Ace 25%Peter......Eric carr employee Vinnie Employee mark st john employee Bruce employee Mark employee Eric Singer employee Thommy Thayer EMPLOYEE...there only one equal KISS...
@ justinfendelet8675 "...one equal KISS", this was Paul's illusion. When he was young. It didn't work in reality. And most musicians are "employees", they have to work for money. To call Tommy an "employee" sounds too pejorative! He is a musician and he is KISS💋.
that click for subscribe makes me not subscribe lol .. its like im listening to the interview and in the middle these annoying clicks lol .. but great interview to that point.
No shit! Paul wrote in his first book how easily Ace let Peter down. This confirms Peter's version. That Ace was a traitor! And it confirms you can not trust drug/alcohol addicts.
Paul said in a Q&A about Peter, he didn't need anybody shooting in his head. Peter:"...so I don't have really anything against Paul". No, I really don't need any Peter nostalgia.
