I listened to Kiss for the very first time when I was 14 and I got shocked when I saw their outfits and when I feel the energy. that came out from the band. They really looked like they were from another planet. Peter Criss was the reason I started to play drums..he influenced me a lot. Later on I became more interested in some other kind of drummers such as Bruford, Porcaro, Steve Smith, Danny Seraphine, Steve Gadd and my taste of music changed dramatically. Today , in retrospective, I don´t think Peter´s drumming was awesome but I am sure he was the perfect drummer for KISS. He was simple and exactly what the band needed (It was only rock and roll but I liked it). One thing I can say is that I play the drums thanks to him and I would be more than happy If I had the chance to meet him and have a picture together. Thanks Peter! Hope you get to see this note from a peruvian drummer one day.
I fuckin' love you, Cat! Over here in the UK we have not forgotten you! Yourself, along with Mick Tucker from The Sweet (RIP) are the reason(s) i play drums. I heard Mick first when i was like, 6 YO and it piqued my interest, and then i heard you at age 11 or 12 and that was fucking IT!! I'm just reading your book (Makeup To Breakup) and i'm half way through, and just loving it!! I'm reading a lot of autobiography's/biographry's these days, and yours has me totally captivated! I love your honesty and sensitivity, and it's nice that you get the chance to put your own side to some of the stories where the other guys (who i still love, incidentally) have dissed you in their own books. Peter, you've been a special individual in my life for almost 40 years, since i was a kid, and even though you will never read this, i wanna publicly pay tribute to you and your talents. It's more than that though, you are a nice, humble, down-to-earth bloke that i can totally relate to. Even as a hetero male, you will always be my 'silver nosed tom-cat' and i love you, Man! Regards and best wishes from England... \m/ (:o)
Hi there! Sorry, not on FB anymore. I was, years ago, but just got so fed-up with it and deactivated it. I don't miss it. Lol! I think Mick will (sadly) always be one of the most underrated drummers in music. A shame! He was so 'musical' in his approach to playing, which is so often lacking in drummers, however technically gifted they may be. At least you and i can keep flying-the-flag for the guy. (:o) Just wonderful! Always nice to find a fellow Sweet/Mick Tucker fan. Keep rockin'. Best wishes... \m/ (:o)
Peter is why I started to play drums as well - Rock n roll over was my first KISS album and those drums are fantastic! However... The reunion tour showed me that my idol was finished. Watch any of the videos of those years and its easy to see that Peter couldn't hack it anymore. The triggers were set so sensitive on his drums because he can't hit with any determination at all. In most songs he looks like he is playing with pencils and can barely move. I really wish Peter could have had a great solo career, but alas his style of music did not go over well with KISS fans. I loved his solo album in 1978, even though I liked harder rock Peters album was very well played and just had some good music on it. People are screaming for just one more tour with the original guys, no... Peter wouldn't be able to handle it and frankly I think he would make a fool of himself.

So pissed off I didn't see Peter Criss's last ever Australian Tour. Didn't have the $. At least I saw the reunion tour and the MSO tour. I put Peter Criss up there with Randy Castillo and Mick Tucker. Both taken too early. Keep Rocking Catman.
I'm a drummer too (can you tell? LOL) now retired and not famous but known a bit. Pete talks about people carrying hate. Many of my ex band members still slander me as I was the straight non drugged guy ,but I consider them losers' ,they are only words .I too write songs and gave up drumming. Peter is cool and a great drummer.
The guy asking Peter the first question I recognise his voice it is of my ex husband Charlie what a good question he asked Peter.I accidently stumbled onto this You Tube clip
Well I agree Peter...you were the best singer in the band...Gene growled...Paul screened...but you sang...and you and ace were the best musicians in kiss.
Nah.. Peters voice was OK but Paul and Gene can sing pretty good. Gene's growling is part of the way of KISS - Ive heard Gene actually sing and he is pretty good. Paul, screams? He has that rock lead singer thing going on..can you imagine Peter singing Love Gun? lol... Ace, well...he cant sing lol
Well all you have to do is watch the video of his last performance here in the USA and he plays several jazz style songs, in fact he ends his final performance with Sing sing sing...
Penridge says different.Interview with Stan before he died. Q. About "Beck", while it has been documented that the song was about Mike Brand's girlfriend/wife Becky, what can you tell me about how the song was written - how much of it was Peter really responsible for, if any? A. Beck was written, almost word for word, from Mike Brand's responses to his wife's constant calls that interupted our rehearsals. It got to the point where I wrote down his remarks over a period of 3 or 4 days in what I called my "wizard book". It was merely a small notebook I carried to jot down silly sayings, sketch in, anything....to save ideas. If you look at the lyrics and view them as a hen-pecked hubby's remarks to his nagging wife you'll see what I mean. Just pause after every sentence and pretend there's a bitch at the other end of the line. You'll catch it - I'm sure. Absolutely not responsible at all. Another poorman's copyright by me in '70.
As a KISS fan I love the Cat but to read that he's the best singer, the best musician, the best I don't know why drives me mad !!! He's illeterate, limited as a drummer, he's just the luckiest S.O.B in the world for meeting the right people at the right time back in te 70's
LOL Jean-pierre! Great comeback! If you're referring to Peters book - yes I agree with you 100%!! Peter is why I first loved KISS and he is the reason I play drums..but his book really turned me off about him. He was a mediocre rock drummer who did get lucky when two jewish boys hired him to play drums in their new band. Peters unique style gave KISS those early years uniqueness and I find very few rock drummers can capture what he did. Both Eric's used double basses while peter did it with one! But in his book Peter did make himself out to be way more important than he really was. And his constant referral to the size of his pecker was ridiculous. All anyone has to do is listen to any of Peters solo material to see that he is not KISS, Ace and Paul are the real KISS, not Peter. God bless Peter and I hope he finally is at peace, judging from his book peace is not something Peter is used to or even welcomed.
jean-pierre straub So english isn't even your first language and yet you're judging a legend born in the USA about his vocabulary? You fuck off rude piece of shit
I was the one who asked the question about Stan, but he kinda veered off the topic and started talking about Beth anyway.. All of Peters songs have Stan as a co-writer but is never mentioned.
HAY CATMAN ACE FREHLEY DOES SOME AMAZING REMAKES ,..BE AMAZING IF YOU DID A REMAKE OF A 1974 SONG BY PAPER LACE BILLY DONT BE A HERO.YOU JUST GOTTA DO IT .
PETER make jazz records like Ace cover sing sing sing and all your favs have it be instrumental & People will fucking love it, then turn around and do a rock record you are the best lets show the world one last time and kick there ass with mass product
You gotta understand Gene is a liar. He also claims Eddie Van Halen asked him if he could join Kiss at a time when VH was one of the biggest bands in rock. The dude is full of shit.
And Paul Stanley tried to take credit for writing Beth but unfortunately for Paul he got caught in a lie because someone recently uncovered a recording of Peater playing it with his band Chelsea long before he ever met Paul and Gene so Peter got the last laugh 😂
Many Peter Criss bashing posts are by bloggers with pages with no content. It is suspicious that these posts are only by a handful of the same people posing as multiple people. It needs to stop.
Look Peter always has a good story to tell , he plays the victim well. Most of the trouble was Peter shooting his own foot. He did his job in Kiss , he was part of the magic and the reason Kiss became one of the biggest bands in the world. He is so far from being a jazz drummer then the man in the moon , anybody that calls him a jazz drummer knows nothing about jazz , Peter has limited talent as a rock drummer if we are being honest , but he did a good job on the Kiss recording he did play on . His talented being limited some produces had studio drummers like Anton Fig play drums on some records as a ghost performer . He sold the Cat Man and 25% of the company, he walked away with a pile of money , but nothing like the money he would have made if he did not sell . That was stupid , he sold out because he thought Kiss was dead in the water and the money train was gone , he thought he out smarted Paul and Gene. Peter had no confidence in his natural talent , he wrote Beth , but the song he gave the producer was way different after the producer changed everything . Peter version was call Beck , it would not have even made the record if it was not for the producer redoing Peter Beck version . Bob Ezrin really wrote Beth , but gave credit for the idea to Stan Penridge and Peter . Peter Criss did really bad music after Kiss , his solo record was an embarrassment . If he is so proud of Beth why didn't he ever right another recordable song that was a hit , like Paul , Gene and Ace did Vinny Vincent wrote more Kiss hits then Peter did , but of course Peter plays the victim , but won't admit to the fact he is his own worst enemy .
Yeah,I'm gonna have to agree w that. Peter was one of my very first influences, but I hardly hear any swing in his playing, and he wasn't going to drag KISS into the 1980's....especially playing the way he did, notwithstanding his personal trouble.I've said on other videos that I personally think he might be Bi-Polar,but idk.
Well since his face looks like it's melting from years of smoking, drinking, and drug abuse, I don't think dark hairakes him look any younger. Wen who don't know when to say when withe due look just as ridiculous.
