Great podcast!! One Up on Wallstreet was my 1st book I got, that started off my investment journey and fully agree, it is very easy read I believe for novice investors

Absolutely love this podcast. My one recommendation, as a writer, is to make sure you look up the pronunciation and meanings of words that you’ve never seen, read, or know of. This is a fairly personal pet peeve, but it also increases your credibility and sense of authority over subject matters. For example La Quinta is a Spanish term pronounced La Keen-ta. It sounds a little silly when you say kwinta.

Splitting hair. There is no doubt about the credibility of the podcast. 😢 I am just being as judgemental.

Great video!one of my favorite Assets managers, so simple & makes sense, jack of all trades! How do you approach the 10 bagger? is this not the right time for that way of investment??

You mentioned how much lower your portfolio would be if you missed the top 30 days over the last few decades but how much higher would it be if you missed the bottom 30 days? I never hear that mentioned but the two are probably comparable.

The problem with this idea is that usually you sell/buy AFTER seeing this happen. In the case of selling you then sell after incurring the loss, and buy after seeing the market go up and missing out on the gains. Obviously if it was easy to sell out right before the big drop and buy back in right before the big gain we would all be rich.

Hi Emily! Thank you for tuning in. If you like John Bogle's work, you might enjoy this interview I did with Eric Balchunas: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4jGh7s56z3Q.html

interesting but very difficult to follow with this robotic voice, I think that microphone should be fixed somehow or the voice should not be synthesized so much because it sounds very bad

Isn’t index fund one short answer to all this?

Depends on what you want to do. 11% historical return is great, takes 7 years to double your money, 14 years to quadruple. If you want to do a ton of research and beat the market, 15% return doubles your money in 5 years. 26% (which is close to Peter Lynch's mutual fund return), took 3 years to double your money. 99.9% of people should just buy an S&P500 index ETF, but you can get better returns if you're willing to learn and put in the work, provided your brain is wired correctly for it.
