Time for my Peter Mckinnon Camera Bag Review! This is a long term review as I've been using the bag off and on for about 9 months. Peter Mckinnon and Nomatic did a great job with this camera bag but there are a few things I can quibble with. Watch the video to see how it holds up over the long term and if these bags are a good investment!

If I was going for a bag this big I'd go with something like the Think Tank Photo Airport bags. You can carry as a backpack or use the rollers and handle.

I love think tank bags! I have a ton of them and use them in my day to day corporate work. I’ve also traveled with them extensively. They are mighty fine bags! Being a bag connoisseur I like to try a bunch and have appreciation for many styles and brands. That’s why I like doing this RU-vid channel! Gives me a good reason to buy more bags! @@KendrickDischCreative the LowePro Protactic 450 AWii is still working great after two years. Been all over the place but still looks great, and clean. Zippers still excellent.

@@scottweaverphotovideo I think I'm going to be able to get my hands on that one in a few weeks and give it a good test run! also got a few other great ones in hand to test out including Shimoda Explore V2 and Nya Evo Fjord (2 sizes!). I'm planning to do a big comparison video with about 6 or 7 of the bigger camera backpacks.

I'm still not sure what bag I want to get, but I really like how you pointed out using the expanded section for a gimbal. That may push me toward this bag as I've been wondering a good way to have it with me, in a case/bag. The bag seems really big for what I need, but I don't have to load it up.

It's a well designed bag and having a spot for the gimbal is great or a jacket... but it's a pretty heavy bag so make sure you don't mind that because ultimately that's something you'll contend with every single day!

Yeah it’s a piece of kit that most bags aren’t setup to accept. Though the gimbals are getting more and more portable!

Main reason I want the bag if because I don’t have a backpack that has an area for my gimbal, but not sure if I’d actually be willing to lug it around … such a tough decision! I have a shimoda 50 but the camera cube that’s in it just doesn’t fit as much as I’d like for the size of the backpack itself 🤔I have like 6 lenses 2 drones and 2 cameras so def need alot of room lol

I usually carry the gimbal in a different extra bag. (Have a video on that!) but maybe take a look at the mindshift gear options in big backpacks!

@@KendrickDischCreative thanks will do!! I ended up getting a “neewer” roller/backpack for 149$ on Amazon to just have everything organized, I liked it so much I got a 2nd for drone stuff lol different color interior

Compared to the peak design travel bag you reviewed like two years ago, how do you like the nomatic one more?

That’s a great question. I love the peak design bag! I actually like it better. But since it was uncomfortable to me, I couldn’t use it. In that sense, I like the PM Nomatic bag better just because it’s decently comfortable to wear.

Another good question. I’d say they are pretty similar if the peak has the cubes. But I’d also say the PM Nomatic bag is probably more rigid.

@@KendrickDischCreative I see. Well... I just got the Nomatic one; it’s really comfy. I love it but, the camera space somewhat shallow, like you mention in the video. I can put all my gears in it but I just wish it’s deeper. Peak design one looks deeper than the nomatic one. I’m debating whether return the Nomatic and get the peak design one or just keep the Nomatic. Btw your review is so thorough and very practical. :)

Yes I've heard of this guy and his bag... not sure why he is so popular. That bag is so big, will look like a Ninja Turtle Shell on my back. lol the Parking violation.
