1. How reality materialized _[hell is real and not a joke]_ 2. How quickly time passed _[one's life]_ 3. How _[man's own]_ goodness failed 4. How stupidity triumphed _[as one had to jump God's many roadblocks]_
It means that are all called to respond to the gospel and salvation in Christ but few will respond. The way it works is that God has it worked out from eternity past because He is absolutely sovereign, which is where “chosen” comes from, but man has a responsibility to respond and accept salvation. God says whosoever will, and that’s true, and it’s also determined from eternity past, but it’s up to us whether to accept or reject it. But if you accept it (and it’s open to EVERYBODY) then that means you were chosen from eternity past. Our human minds cannot comprehend how God has it all worked out already but also how we have the “ability to choose” be or not be saved. There’s a gigantic logical gray area that we can’t grasp but makes more sense when you understand that the Lord is outside time and we are inside time in this little blip of eternity
