Looks great, Wish it had rimbrakes instead cause the brakedisc really is ugly :/ (but I guess that black thing is to take away some heat from the disc so it does not warp as easy)

It's hard to tell since there will be another design used by rivals: Pinarello FS, which stabilizes the frame, not just rider's upper body. With one-design race rule, I'd bet for Sagan. He even has that body composition what most of the P-R winners have. But with bike compliance tech involved, I just wish him good luck and hope for his win.

I think it’s awesome that Sagan and his team allow his bike to be reviewed in this manner. It’s also awesome that GCN has the reputation to be trusted to do it. Great job guys! Sagan hasn’t been in his best form lately, but maybe he can find what he needs for this race

Love the look of the new Roubaix and the paint job of the Sagan special looks about as bling as you can get. The only downside to how great it looks is that it makes my own Roubaix (model year 2012) look pretty old fashioned - Zertz inserts anyone?

Figures: Just purchased my new 2018 Roubaix Ultegra last August, and already it is obsolete. It rides so sweetly with the Future Shock thing, though, that I hardly notice the bumps. And yes, with the 28mm tires, I can run 105psi in front, due to the FS reducing the jarring effect on my old wrists. Not gonna let NewBikeEnvy interfere with my purchase, though. Looks like it’d cost over US$10K to duplicate Peter Sagan’s sweet ride. Gotta find a channel to watch the ride on Sunday! Godspeed, Peter!

@elced01
@elced01 5 лет назад
@@sullysullster8217 I think the Pinerello shock design is paving the way of the future with millisecond electronic sensing and then shutting off and suspending the whole bike but allowing it to stay rigid. The Specialized FS design is much cruder and limited as the design is based on not enough tech access. The Future Shock will soon join Specialized design graveyard along side of Zertz and Cobble Gobbler. I think a good bet for the future will be electronic disc braking too as the tech has been already proven and established in motorized vehicles. Just need to being the weights down in the future due to battery required but things will get there eventually..

@sethfrankel3542

I find it interesting that it’s displayed on a stand that is off level...lifting the rear wheel. It makes the top tube level and in this position it’s a moderately attractive bike. However, it become quite a bit less attractive with the sloping top tube in a normal position. Perhaps the slope allows for a longer seatpost with greater compliance? Still, it’s not a unattractive to me as some commenters state, but it’s not a stunner.

Some nice innovations, however in retail form imo I'd rather buy a British Ribble endurance SLR fully kitted out for 1/3rd of the price, fit a Redshift antishock stem for £150 and then buy 2 x second hand cars for my kids!!!! Absolutely bonkers price point, only appropriate for our friends since 2008, the investment bankers.

The Tarmac and Roubaix models need to converge and use "Roubaix configuration" modes to cover that. The biggest problem is that now nobody knows if the Tarmac will be revised yet again because the rear cluster with optional seat post makes more sense than the current S-Works Tarmac. I like the new Roubaix. It's way better than the previous generations. However, it makes me wonder why some of these "great ideas" are not already featured on the Tarmac. Make the shock compatible with the standard Tarmac head tube and figure out which tube profiles are best for all terrain since the seatpost and the shock now take care of "pave control" duties. Also, they have the Diverge so there's no need for anything more radical than what they have now. On top of all of that they should arguably converge with the Venge now that new frames like the new 9-series Izalco Max are getting very nearly the same results as the best of the Tarmac and the Venge. The different modes can be dealt with by changing out the fork, seatpost and if needed the cable routing and cockpit (and wheels, as always) for special duties like superlight climbing mode, or whatever. Specialized engineers are very good. But management is allowing the teams to paint themselves in to corners. It's great to have all of these options when you don't pay for it yourself. But who wants to shell out for 3 halo bikes just to have "the right bike" for a season of road racing (not to mention a true TT bike)? I think it was a good idea way back when to have development forks but now they need to look at convergence again. Come up with an ideal road racing frame and have specialty components to fine tune for each mode based on conditions. One open road race and one TT frame should cover all road racing conditions.
@hugoyoung4890
@hugoyoung4890 5 лет назад
Are you high, redesigning a bike to be compatible with futureshick would be a pita. And you expect the owners to change headsets depending on the conditions, most people buy a bike and don't change much except for tyres, wheels and saddle. Who would this help? teams can afford to purchase multiple bikes for riders.
@indonesiaamerica7050
@indonesiaamerica7050 5 лет назад
@@hugoyoung4890 Nobody said any user has to change anything. The point is that it's wise to not have two different frames that compete with each other that don't share molds. And if they do decide to avoid duplication so that they can decide along the production line which configuration to use that also means users have more options if the manufacturer decides to sell a separate fork change kit. Teams also get what they want. There's no good reason to do it any other way except that they had already split the model some time ago when they thought "Who would this help?" It would help everyone that uses the products because resources are employed more wisely while superfluous redundancies are eliminated. The model cycle lasts longer that way and second hand sales are more reliable for well-maintained products. Change for the sake of change makes people nervous about what is coming next. Why should anyone pay premium prices for something that will be rendered obsolete (as a halo product) at any moment? "teams can afford to purchase multiple bikes for riders" Oh boy. You're a genius, aren't you.
