Nice to be writing to a fellow Greek/Cypriot! I believe you had too much flour! Remember, the ratio is approx. 1 cup butter to 2 cups flour... it's all about ratio - your dough will need to look like hers - very soft and sticky. Note that if you're measuring out your butter accurately, you must use proper measuring cups for the flour too (they're smaller than what we sometimes tend to use in our Greek/Cypriot kitchen).
