1.oversized bags (can make you look overwhelmed) opt for a medium size bag 2. bulky platform shoes (instead of making you taller they make you look shorter because of the uneven proportion) 3. following supermodels (does an outfit look good on them because the outfit is actually nice or because they’re tall and slim?) 4. wearing baggy jeans (be aware: they enhance your bottom and make you look heavier instead opt for flare-bottom oder boot-cut jeans) 5. you can wear long skirts (they elongate your body) 6. you can wear maxi dresses (they elongate your body) 7. don’t wear ankle straps (horizontol lines cut off your leg, opt for pumps, if you want to wear ankle straps take nude ones that blend in with your skin tone) 8. wide leg pants (make sure your top is fitted) 9. don’t shop in the junior department unless you’re looking for sweatpants 10. don’t layer oversized clothes (instead wear monochrome color troughout)
For all of you who are bickering about the “ overwhelming music”: The reason this videos are so GREAT is not only the fact that they are really informative, super accurate and realistic in their content but also because they are funny. She makes fun of the new trends that some of us are following but they absolutely killing us short girls. This humor is excellent and the MUSIC SUPPORTS the sarcasm. As a musician 5:1’ myself, I have to congratulate her on the choice of music which precisely goes along with the tone of the videos and a message she is trying to send! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great video and helpful information, I don't want to sound mean but the music was very loud and at times I had trouble hearing you, apart from that it was great them you🤗
Very good video! I can’t shop in the Juniors department because I am busty. So, would love to see what to wear when you are 5’2” busty and short waisted.
Hi Victoria- thanks! I’ll be making a video on petite and busty, for now you can check out my blog blog.petitedressing.com/how-to-dress-petite-large-bust/
Petite Dressing Thank you. This video was excellent. You packed so many good tips into it. I am another petite person who would like to see ideas for short, short torso, long legs, large bust. Nicole Richie's size and shape but with a 34D bust.
I'm 72 and I love your great suggestions. Some I already knew on my own. The full length mirror is your friend. Always check to see how you look front and back before walking out the door
I’m 5’1 and I just look soooo young I’m 25 but I look 14. I feel like most things I wear make me look like a kid. I look like a kid who raided my moms closet half the time and the other half I just look like a bland teenager. I can barely find clothes that fit properly let alone flatter me even in the petite section. I don’t even have access to a petite section currently. Don’t even get me started on shoes, I’m a size 5 so most stores don’t even carry my size. Ive never been able to find a pair of heels that properly fit, so that’s out the window for me. I’ve pretty much given up on actually looking good in clothes.
I absolutely love your content! They are very informative and I like that you provide the rationale of why certain combinations does not work. The music in this video is much louder than you so it's a bit hard to hear you. :)
Love your videos. Honesty and practicality. I am an older woman looking to dress again in the modern world. Your advice is really good. Much I have learned over the years but I also very much appreciate you sharing this just the same. Especially on the long skirts and maxi dresses. I did avoid them for a long time……but not anymore! Going to enjoy this now and also play with more colour as well. And styles. Young women play with an outfit and see what you can do. Live your life, enjoy! Thanks Chi!
Love your videos. Great advice. You’re production has improved so much. Congratulations on all the improvements you’ve made. Keep it up we petite ladies need you.
wow the platform heels tip, i never even thought of it but now i really notice they make me look weird. Thank you for so many great tips! Meanwhile i just started to jam with the music 😌 You're amazing, girl! ❤️
This one point you mentioned Chi about wanting to copy someone’s style - I only recently realised that it just won’t work unless you consider that person’s shape. It will only work if the height, build and general body shape are the same. Plus colouring too but that’s an aside.
Maxi skirts and slim fitting maxi dresses are my go to items for casual wear when I don't want to wear pants....same for formal wear...they look great on petites esp in solid colors but I wear prints for casual too, they just need to have a slim fitting top for me and v neck to elongate torso. RE shoes slingback heels with adjustable back strap can really help re fit...I can't wear pumps because of a very narrow heel...works for me.
Helpful content. I would just use picture inserts or pop-in an illustration like you did with Nicole Richie. Save music for introduction and ending. Thanks for your efforts. Look forward to more. You're helping me declutter.😉
Hi Chi, I’m petite and I find I like and look better in the “no” category. I receive more compliments when I dress the way you say us petite folks should not dress, and I also feel like more of my personality shines through. My mother has described me as a long bodied short person, and I wonder if I’m just an anomaly. I have long legs, long arms, and a long torso, I’m just a smaller framed person, it’s almost miniature. I like wide leg pants, but I consider them more me playing with fashion rather than emphasizing my better physical qualities. I have bought jean colored shoes to wear with skinny blue jeans, and I have bought tiny black boots to go with skinny black jeans. If I wear big, chunky shoes, then I wear wide pants. I try to create longer lines in a different way. I wear loads of bracelets because I love bracelets, and I think it’s the loving yourself that just looks the best. It’s not that I don’t like your suggestions, it’s almost like I find them too flattering and suggestive, and also like I’m hiding myself. Petite shirts are always a little odd on me, and petite pants as well, just a little too short no matter the size, or too wide. Maybe I should start my own blog and try to find the one other person in the world with my body type. I look amazing in cuffed jeans and skinny jeans with tank tops in all one color.
Im just happy to see how much you have improved the edition of your videos 😍😍 the content has always been great tough... grettings from a petite girl from Chile!
This video was very helpful, but the music was so loud it was hard to hear what you were saying! Please either get rid of the music or tone it down really, really low.
You have the best advices I have ever got. So much Information. I am very petite and I am 63 years old. Thank you very much! Best greetings from AUSTRIA ELISABETH 🎄🎻🎶🇦🇹
Thank you so much for your great advice. I have always had problems with clothes. Nothing fits right. I am 5 foot 2 with narrow shoulders, short arms and wide hips. I think I am in hourglass shape. Your videos have really helped me have a new life with dressing everyday and having given me more confidence. Now I feel smart about the clothes I buy!
Hi Chi, I have just found you - wow such a great channel!! I am a 5’4” pear shape - and I feel all your information is soo relevant for me !! So a big thumbs up from me! Regards Deb
penny candy Hi Chi, I’m new to your channel, thank you so much! I’m 5’3”, so just a bit taller than you, but another problem I have is a large bust for my small frame. If you come across any good tips , I’d love to hear them. I recently learned that stripes horizontally are actually flattering for a large bust, avoid bulky sweaters, large pattern prints, do wear those shirts/dresses that tie in the front (but I don’t think I’ve found even one that worked). Again, thank you for these videos, I’m always trying to dress better, it’s a bit of a challenge in our chillier climate.
Good morning, Chi (sp?)! Thanks for adjusting the music. I just happen to be watching your video on boots when your reply came in. Another round of great tips, thank you. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!
Hi Chi, after watching your videos I realize a lot of my clothes just aren't flattering for my petite frame. They are cute clothes but don't flatter the proportions of my body. How do I overhaul my closet to create more flattering petite looks without breaking the bank to quick. lol. Also, when I wear flare or boot cut pants should the top always be form fitting? If I wear skinny jeans or pants may I then wear a loose fitting top? Thank you so much for helping me. -Daniela
Hi Daniela- you can start with matching long with short, with your existing pieces. Changing the proportion will give your outfit a new look- if you have long tops, try it with short skirts or shorts (they are also great for your Apple shape) and tall boots, or existing jeans or pants but pair with a new cropped length jacket or
Yes, both are right- you want the well fitted top (don’t have to be tight) to balance out the volume in the jeans. If top is too loose, try top it with jacket to add structure.
I'm 5'2" ( barely) with a very looong torso. So, you got it, very short legs; the bane and pain of my life when it comes to fashion. I've found high waist dark slim fir jeans to be the greatest thing yet....
I was happy to hear your comment about platform shoes. I hate them. They do absolutely nothing for your shape, no matter what your body type happens to be.
You're so right about many things but wrong about full length to the floor pants. They definitely looks bad, they looks drowning. Petit must show a certain proportion of legs.
Hi I love your videos, you give great advice for petites. Is there any way that a petite lady can wear cropped, wide leg jeans? I bought two pairs recently and I don't know how to wear or style them. I am 4'11' pretty slim, a little busty and I have a little bit of a belly, thanks for any advice you can give me!
Your videos are informative and helpful but avoid falling into the trap with the music. I want to hear what you say and then get distracted by the music.
Great information, but background music was too loud and louder than you when you were speaking. Too overwhelming. Other than that... I love watching your videos for tips! I’m 5’ but chubby. I have thyroid disease so I have a lot cravings. But I’m determined to loose weight and get to the weight I need to be for my height. That’s why your videos are helpful to me either way because my height will be the same no matter what and the tips for short women help me to dress accordingly. I couldn’t find any videos for short - chubby women. Take care! Thank you!
Jacqueline- Glad you find my videos helpful, and yes, I'll make more on how to dress to look slimmer without losing weight. BTW, this is one of my earliest videos, and I've fixed the audio issue since then.
How do you feel about wide belts on petites? I love wearing them because of my small waistline however, I was told recently that short or petite women should wear thin belts. Thanks in advance.
In general wide belts are more suitable for taller or girls on the heavy side..., But, If you love it, I’d say go for it. You can try belts with same color as your outfit but with a noticeable buckle, which will still highlight your tiny waist but won’t make your torso look cut-off!
Content is really helpful but the background music was so loud it ruined the experience and couldn’t hear what she’s saying about the FASHION what I’m interested in
I hate my height SO much. It’s so unfair that someone can wear whatever they want and still look nice and fit just because they are tall, and I have to avoid clothes I like and wear something I don’t only to not look like an underage fat gnome (but I still do lol). Anyway, I really appreciate your channel, it’s pretty helpful, I’d probably use most of these advices if I was still trying to look nicer. Thanks.
