Peugeot 5008 MPV (2009-2014) review - CarBuyer 

I owned a 5008 for 8 years. Great car that didn't let me down once. Would recommend to current buyers.

I had one a 2010 1.6 hdi exclusive all leather, sunroof, heated front seats, electronic brake, cruise control etc.. and let me tell you for a diesel it's super refined, tight gearbox and slick gear change, the clutch has strong return but not too hard. The only downside is the suspension set up which is too stiff even worse that is mated with 17 inch low profile tyres, the 18 inch MUST BE AVOIDED AT ALL COST. My advice is to for the entry model with 16 inch alloys for a bit better ride, if you can get past the basic kit.

i really like these reviews they actually review the cars without being boring. as for the 5008 them seats are amazing how they let people into the back

@Preluding99 Yes. Majority of cars sold in Europe are manuals. In fact, almost anything apart from big luxury saloons is manual, people dont want to pay extra for automatics, and manuals are nicer to drive.

I like CarBuyer reviews in general but how is that it's always the manual version that get's reviewed? This car with the EGC is a totally different experience and that ought to be mentioned by the reviewer.

@Preluding99 this is a debatable point because let's say for a BMW 5 series US typically review a 550i auto where as Europe typically reviews a 520d manual. Both of which sounds ridiculous spec on either side of the pond. Could try selling it US but engines choices will be a con because no V6 is available.

I bought a brand new 5008 in January last year. I was sold the dream of the pop up seats but they are on an aggressive hing/spring mechanism which can cause the rollers to jump out of the rail and means it can't be folder flat or put into a seat position so it becomes an obstacle in the boot in an apex position. Peugeot and The dealership are aware of this and there is no way to repair this other than replace the seat completely at a cost of over £1,000. Personally I would not advise anyone to buy this car.

I don't know about build quality, but it looks great, if this is the kind of vehicle you need for everyday. "you need to use the force", funny.

I had enough trouble getting in the driver's seat and I'm only 5'1. It slopes far too steeply and also has a lip at the bottom. As MPVs are often a choice of Motability customers, to carry their wheelchairs, scooters etc., this could be a problem...for Peugeot. Then you can't reach anything. Ergonomics are not Peugeot's strong point going off this car. Would choose the Grand Picasso over this

@TheAlexv6 it isn't the car so much as the fuel its self. Fuel in Europe is richer than here in America, so cars don't need as much of it, so it's not entirely the cars

Only time has shown what a disaster the 1.6 Vti and 1.6 THP engine was :-) The 1.6 HDI has problem with FAP, so only 2.0 HDI can be recomended as used car :-)

Another load of RUBBISH by your driver. The Citreon Grand Diesel Exclusive 2008 Handles very well considering its size and the automatic rear view mirrors are great for parking such a large MPV. Get real man. It is not a Ferrari For £9000 s/h Great car.

I would never put children in those rear seats. They are outside tge vehicles crumple zones. Good luck getting your kids out after a crash. Whole poibt of the 5 star ncap rating goes out the window when your children are just inches from the rear od the vehicle lol

The worst semi automatic gearbox on the market, auto gearboxes are not supposed to be jerky and slow at changing up, this rubbish fitted to both Peugeot and Citroen is an embarrasment. Come on peugeot, fit a decent auto gearbox and I might have been persuaded to buy one, but not with this truly awful semi auto nothing gearbox you have.

Impressiv at evry angle,inside & out,except 4 frontal approach.It really sucks 2 look at,it's as if a design engineer after spending waking moments putting evry detail 2 attention thru d'nite,comes dawn,a few moments away from work submission,applying simplistic-nonchalant closures 2 the front that essentially bears strong resemblance 2 a certain German SUV,wic is famous 4 tech-superior but unchanging ugly sportcars.5008 engine-hood is mechanic-unfriendly,I pity them.Shud take cues from BMW-Mini
