Peugeot e208 / 208 (2020 - on) Sat Nav Map Update
In this video, I show you how to update the Sat Nav maps in my Peugeot e208
(This should be the same as the Peugeot e2008 / 2008)
The car used in the demonstration is -

Great video. Somehow, the Peugeot navigation website recommended a navigational update which wasn't compatible with my operational system (SMEG 5) of my Peugeot 208 from 2015. This was after I entered my VIN, which should have given the website all of the necessary information about my car. Be vary of this if you decide to order a GPS-update online - check your cars operational system first! It should also be noted that later, support provided me with the proper version of the software, although it took a couple of days for them to actually send it to me.

Speed cameras are a paid for service - open the app and go to Vehicle Connected services Speed cameras and danger zones Find out more And it will take you to the Peugeot Services Store and choose how many years 1 or 3 and add to cart. Add payment details and it should then be added to your maps 👍🏻

After doing all this, no problems, when inserting the pen drive in the car it’s says “it’s NOT compatible

Sorry if these are silly questions as I don't have an EV. Can this not be done via OTA? And if the only way is via USB, can I lock the car up while car is on?

Hi its a good question, no these updates can only be done via a USB (the GT does have Wifi so maybe in the future we will get OTA updates). As far as I'm aware if you lock the car it will shut down after 15 mins, so the car needs to be left on. The Sat Nav map update can be done while the car is being driven, but the software update (see other video) has to be done while the car is stood - and both are done with the ignition on.

Yep just like my ds3 crossback it takes forever and wastes so much fuel waiting for the maps and screen updates to install....rediculous it takes so long

Great vid, just wondering how long did it take you? I've mistakenly continued when allaps were selected. Now my driving dials are frozen and updating for the last hour. Getting worried now. Because I can't even drive the car. Putting it on reverse doesn't do anything.

The map updates took about an hour - as you can see in the video I removed most of the maps so I’m hoping with the next update it will be quicker,

@@CoastalEV yes, it took almost 2 hours for me. I was worried there as it didn't come back after 1 hour, I thought I have broken it. but it's all good now. thanks

How long does it take to update one country? Poland with 400mb takes more than 30 minutes and still not updated.

I still have the latest map update to do. My previous updates have both taken a about 45mins. First time it updated all the maps. The second time I removed all apart from the UK - so the next should be quicker as it only has one to do.

To update the software is similar to the nav update - I’ve done a video on that too. You just load it onto a usb stick and follow the instructions 👍🏻

Ok but can you install the sat nav maps on a model that doesn't come with the sat nav?

I don’t think you can - the ones I have driven without nav ask you to plug in a phone with a usb cable.

@@CoastalEV Thanks for the quick reply ! So I have an allure model without sat nav included but still has the button for the sat nav and when you click it nothing happens (even if your phone is connected and use maps). Of course, I connect my phone and use google maps easily from the carplay menu but I saw that some cars have like a memory card that you can remove and plug into a computer to update the maps... so I was wondering if the new Peugeot had the same system.

No not on charge - you need to leave the car switched on. You can drive the while it’s doing the update.

You will get a notification in the app when there is an update that is relevant for your car. (or you can check on the Peugeot website)

Nice Video, If only I could get the update to download correctly. I've downloaded, stored and used the 7zip to expand the download, but no License (french Spelling in advice notes) in evidence. Apparently the License must be added to the folder which is saved on the USB. Totally P****d Off after several wasted hours. As has been noted on Forums Peugeot Software falls well short of Industry Leaders. On an additional note how do you turn down the annoying alarm sound everytime you approach a speed camera? Then when you've passed it, a further overloud 'All Clear' signal.

Hi, thanks, thankfully I haven’t come across this problem with my car, my local dealer did my last software update because of a problem I was having with my nav. I’ve not been keeping up with map updates as most of the journeys I’ve been have been the same route so I’ve had no need to update.

I’m not sure as I don’t have speed camera alerts on my car - turns out I should and customer services are looking into it. Might take a while. Hopefully it’ll be sorted soon.

Ours never got to the finish section where it says system restart required, just went back to the main display, clicked on the maps button and it said "no maps present either it is updating or the maps are lnot installed", doesn't tell you which, have been running the car for nearly 2 hours trying to get the map updated, what a total waste of fuel, be quicker taking a paper map!

Will the firmware updates be also available to download via website? Or do I need to go to Peugeot and pay for it? :/

Only map updates and software for the media centre will be available for you to download, any other updates will need to be done by the dealer - while the car is under warranty I would think they will be free.

You should still be able to do it. You will just need an adapter to plug the usb drive into the iPad.

You can add and remove different countries maps as well as updating them.

Why does the thing have that wretched audible feature assailing the ears immediately on opening the driver's door? What in the world is the p o i n t ? More importantly, can you please explain exactly how to >deactivate< it? I've never come across anything like it in a car. A gimmick gone beserk and then some. Stupidity on stilts.

@@CoastalEV No, I'm referring to when you open the driver's door and BEFORE you start the motor. My Zoe does this and it drives me up the wall. Grrrrrrrrrrr! Does the same type of jingle sound feature on the e208 too?

So had I done the same. Why on earth would you prolong the extremely over long archaic process of the software update ( it’s so 1990’s) and your not even going to visit any of the other countries in your car? It should be able to be done straight to the car via wifi(tethering). Goodbye
