I'm 20 years old and I just got myself a RCZ. I am amazed by this car, I love it to bits already. Before my rcz I drove a vw polo which was such a boring and lame car and now I ve got this beauty, the rcz for me is just perfect.
Robinson K For me too. It is fast enough for me, the interior is lovely, it is a head turner, the fuel economy is great on my diesel version. It just ticks all the boxes for me. My nephew who visited recently loved it too! Before I had Rover 200, Mitsubishi Colt, Ford Ka which were very sluggish and boring. This is by far the best car I've had and would buy it again. Well done Peugeot!!
Marti Colls yeah, I drove a 308as my first car which was alright, I enjoyed it a lot, then I got the vw polo from my dad which was just awful, so sluggish, lame and ugh, I just didnt like it. The RCZ is just amazing, the best thing is that wherever I go, I get the attention of so many girls with this car, its just amazing :D
Firemarioflower I dont really like the tt, it looks kinda boring, just like a normal standard audi from the front while the rcz doesnt really look like a peugeot at all (apart from the badge) . I actually see a bit of Aston Martin when I look at the front of my RCZ. Not to mention that the rcz is much cheaper ro run than a TT and you dont encounter them as often than a TT which means the RCZ is more exclusive
Just for info : 100k km's yesterday on mine. Ecu remapped to 301hp on 100 octane fuel only + K&N panel filter. Issues till today : changed 2 batteries , 1 start engine , HPFP ( the stock one was TRASH and have been replaced officially by Peugeot with a proper , upgraded one ). End of issues. Car is a fuckin beast for a 1.6 lt. Mine goes to 265 max speed , 0-100 5,4secs. But the most impressive thing is erogation and , over all , the handling , which is SPECTACULAR ! Best buy of my life :D
Peugeot has done a surprisingly good job on this one. With both the styling and the only front wheel drive it does remember me a lot of the good old Honda Prelude: A lady's sports car.
Really pointless comparison to a more expensive car, to a totally different class of car which is 4 series.. This can only be compared to sirroco and audi tt.. etc
Bora Markovic BMW 4 Series starts at £29,420. RCZ-R starts at £31,995. Realistically, people considering a BMW, might be surprised to know they could get a much faster Peugeot for only a little more money.
Carbuyer sure..and you can get Peugeot 5008 hybrid for similar price, get better economy and put 7 people inside! Come on, RCZ is a sportscar, you should only compare it to others of its kind: BMW Z4, Audi TT, Nissan 370z, etc..
Frazer White Generally not a fan of FWDs becuase of their understeery-ness. Went in a friend's 1.9 205 GTi and wasn't that impressed. I did have a Saab 900 turbo 16S some years ago. That was fantastic. Probably the only FWD car I've rated. I bought an E39 M5 two years ago; don't think a 205 GTi would cut it.
With Peugeot Sport's signature you won't miss the RWD that much on this one. Turn stability control off, check the correct tire pressure plus good driving skills and it will oversteer more than a few RWDs out there.
Great looking all round car. Would love one but for now will stick with my diesel RCZ. Back seats are too small but I bought it to benefit two people, so not really bothered
Brad Alexander Is A amazing Driver, I got hold of a Peugeot race car and modified It, We won first place at every track except when racing against formula ones, Brad even won even when the pit Crew got the weather forecast wrong They said It was going to stop raining and put the wrong tires on, He was sliding all over the tack and ran odd the road a few times but still took first place. I was Driving at Nurburging In wet weather and took first place but I had soft racing slicks but Brad was using hard racing slicks.
***** That's my point. Previously, Carbuyer has complained about cars costing a couple of grand more, €10k is a lot of money, spend that much more and it's a given that the car is better.
yes, you sit right to the steering wheel, but it is full out. Same interior is in the 308 old version and yes it is hard to reach radio, but you can operate it with buttons right behind the steering wheel. everything else is on reach.
Nice review. However, have you ever considered doing some occasional track testing? Although most people would never take vehicles like this to a track, it could give us some insight on its true capabilities, good or bad. It would be interesting, especially considering your background, Rebecca.
It´s a good sporty car that RCZ, not a bad move from Peugeot. Wether one likes it or not - It´s one of those cars that all car enthusiasts should welcome since it adds options for Drivers along with all the other competitors. it would not be my first option in this segment still I think it is nice to see something looking different and add some sportiness to the overall automotive arena within reach of many people.
I own one, it's looks out way its performance. It's a gorgeous looking car for the price. Owned an Audi TT BLACK Quattro prior to my preferred RCZ which was a better car in the real world.
+simpsons790 you can import it yourself but all the paperwork is not worth, shipping cost is too much and you wont have ANY dealers and spare parts. Sooooo
+Chris Sorreda. I agree totally, it will be interesting to see what reliability is like and what kind of mileage these cars can do given that the engine is stressed to fuck.
It's not stressed at all. It's just a race engine on the paper. Forged components, full.alluminium block, big turbo, open exaust. I own the exact copy of this one, and believe, it's BRUTAL.
i dont get the problem with leaning forward if you cant be arsed to use the stereo controls behind the steering wheel i never touch the dash controls really.
Would be interesting to see some Carbuyer joint reviews from Rebecca and that Brummie guy together. Would be interesting as I like both of them but in different ways.
well how much comparedto a megane rs 265? cause i believe the megane rs 265 is better value for money. in my country the difference is very clear. once you see the price without extras
Great cars, I’ve had a 350 nismo they are good but no boot space , they hug the rd, good on fuel , I can’t say to much bad about mine and have had it for just over 12 months , fold the silly back seats down and you’ve almost an estate car room in the boot , great cars except tyres are expensive, 19 inch wheels standard cheers shane uk 🇬🇧
I don't agree with the orangutan body dimensions. I have been driving my RCZ for over three years now, and with my 1.74 m normal dimensions I fit perfectly well and can reach the center console button with ease.
I've just bought a secondhand RCZ, but I wouldn't let her put the suitcases in mine, though in case she chipped the paintwork! 😂 (See 45 -50 seconds in...)
On Magny-cours circuit: BMW M135I = 1:27.28 RCZ-R= 1:26.60 On sachensring: BMW M3 E93=1:42.63 RCZ-R= 1:40.40 wooops looks like I just broke up a myth, sorry...
All u people asking why it's being compared to a 4series, i agree a 2 series is ideal but this particular model with 270bhp comes at a whopping £32,000 otr price. Whereas a 4 series starts at just over £29,000 otr. U do the maths, I'll go for a 4series any day
Nice review this time, but you don't compare this car to BMW's 4 Series or even the Scirocco. Try Audi TT-S and Porsche Cayman instead, only about 20,000 euro cheaper with similar equipment, 15,000 cheaper than the 370Z Nismo as well.
Got to love some of the comments on here. You have all your TT fans that are trying to convince themselves that they are not driving a woman's car. I have owned both RCZ and TT. For me the RCZ is the better car for over all road presence and value for money. The idea of having a sports coupe is to be unique. So don't bother with the common TT that you will see everywhere :)
£32 grand brand new! That is allot of money, Audi TT is 10 grand cheaper and think I would go for that because should not lose as much money in depreciation. Plus is there something wrong on carbuyer website? Says Audi TT starts from 46 thousand...
Timothy C on the rcz R there is no auto option in the whole europe, the main reason is that peugeot don't have a proper auto transmition for a sports car...
