I have my sons speedfight 3 50cc ac in my garage, basically wouldn't start so head off piston out as both rings broke,all bits accounted for apart from one small piece, as this engine is at a angle rather than straight up I can't seem to see inside to well but used a magnetic pen and managed to remove lots of filings, I'm hoping no bigger pieces left
if there is it will just come up and damage the new piston bud so keep trying to get it all out check head that its not damaged or replace piston and head bud
@@marksavage completely new kit on order mark but the worry off not being able to get every little bit out, I might try adapting a piece of fuel line to a hoover and try sucking it out 🤔
@@brianodonnell4137 yea i used to do that too, most of the time there was fuel and 2t oil mix at the bottom so used to suck it all out that way sure it will be fine bud
I just installed a new piston and cylinder on my 50cc Speedfight2. It started then made a slight nick, now it has only started for a few seconds when I put a new spark plug in. It seams to bog down when I put starting fluid in carb. Is there a difference in the rings (top, bottom, up, down?). I plan on taking it back apart to see if a wrist pin clip came off, but figured I would see if you had any thoughts.
hi o'dear, well yes something has gone wrong , as in my videos why did you change it in the first place? did you clean out the sump for any bits? the piston and clips went in ok, as for the rings the only go on one way with the lug on the piston! sometimes if you don't get them on properly they can snap or if you run it dry with any 2t oil like in me videos when changing the piston as I always put a little 2t oil around the head best take it off and have a look bud then it should come to light if you did something wrong hope that helps I have loads of videos that should help please like that share and subscribe . mark
The reason for replacing was I purchased it used. When i got it, there was oil coming out of the spark plug hole when it was cranked. After cleaning the carb, got it running with a lot of smoke. Drove it for 15-20 minutes then lost compression. Took the cylinder off and the top of the piston was broken off. I flipped scooter over when cylinder was off and flushed with a garden hose. The sprayed some 2 cycle oil in and turned over engine to lubricate crank. I soaked up excess oil with a towel. Then I installed new cylinder and piston.
Took apart my engine. Found a score in the piston and a piece of the old ring. The cylinder does not look scored but the piston is toast. I also found a second piece of the old ring (about 1/4 inch) but when I went to remove it, it fell down one of the holes next to the rod (the bigger of the 2 holes). I have not been able to get it out. I can no longer see the piece. I turned the bike upside down and sprayed allot of carb cleaner up the hole trying to flush it, but nothing. I am planning on putting the engine back together with a new piston and see if anything happens. What do you think? - Thank you for your help. - Erick
well you found the problem but another problem !that piece of ring will come out again and may cause it to happen again, what a bugger!you may be lucky and it come out of the exhaust port but it could also do damage if you have done all you can do then give it a go and see how you get on hope it all goes well bud. mark
Hi Mark, I have done a piston change. You get 2 round rings plus another thin 1 thats kind of hex , wtf is that 1 for? cheers. CAnt even see it in the manual that i have...
And if i change the cylinder to an 50 cc one could i put like A 17.5 mm carb? Because im scared that the engine would overheat because i have an AC one speedfight 2 2004.
Hi mark i have an speedfight 2 2004 AC. So the problem is that when im warming UP the engine the cylinder starts to make like A clicking noise. Could it be rings or the whole cylinder.?
@@marksavage yes it doesnt click any More when its warm. But i think my oil pump is taking too much oil in my moped because when i took out the spark plug it was Black and wet. Šo i think im gonna make yust 1 tank and mix oil with petrol myself.
@@raivisvjaksa4686 drain out the 2t oil and use good quality oil, , wash and clean the air filter or replace and tune like in my videos this will stop it running rich and help with the plug
Hey mark, I have a speedfight 2 50cc LC and my piston was damaged, I bought a new piston and barrel, However the new piston only fits in with the arrow pointing away from the exhaust, if I put it in with the arrow pointing towards the exhaust the rings get stuck, could the arrow be mis-printed?
+Chad Rodgers I guess mate but it does have to point to the exhaust!, but if it only fit's the other way mate and it does not catch then put it all back together tighten down but do not fill with water yet, see how it turns over by hand via the variator if ok then turn over and see it if starts ok and runs for a little bit , no damage will happen not having water in it for that sort time . if all ok put water in it an away you go lol..
