Honestly these videos have helped me out so much as I knew nothing about bikes and I’ve done so much watching these and I’ve learned so much that a shop would never even think twice about and maintaining my bike is a priority and a shop it way too over prices
My derbi 50cc 2 stroke cut out on me kick it over had no compression, bump it, started up rode it to try get home and rear wheel locked on me kickstart gone solid any ideas?
hi bud 2t really doesn't matter if they have compression as you can have top compression but no bottom which helps to suck in the fuel or other way round.if you have cleaned the carb and it's sucking in fuel so you plug is getting wet all should be ok and you have spark it can be the piston or the reeds like in my videosthere are a few thing it can be so you need to start some where bud
Ive just done my piston on a vivacity 50cc, what is the best procesure for running it in? ive only done rebuilds on Rs125's before or geared bikes, qny tips or tricks?
Shaun Kynaston add I little 2t to the petrol tank let it tick over for 15 mins then let it cool down and do it again for 20 mins then cool down and take it for a ride just don't open it up for too long and it will be fine for a few rides back to normal riding bud , mark
Hi mark and others, I own a speed fight 2 49.9cc moped and I keep having problems with it. First it was loud and wouldn't go more than 10mph so I put a new exhaust gasket in and that seemed to fix the problem temporarily.. It was quiet and how a ped should sound and ride it is unrestricted so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this next problem that I've got- i used to be able to start it via the electric start button but one day it just wouldn't start electrically and so I've been kicking it over but it takes 1 or 2 or even more kicks to get it started and when it starts it either does 1 of these 4 things: bogs down and cuts out, bogs down and then up sounding like it's cutting out and starting up again, revs get really high and does the complete opposite to bogging down and then runs alright but when I'm driving as I twist the throttle it feels as if I'm getting zero power to the engine and it sounds as if it's miss firing but to stop it making the sound and loosing power I pull the back break slightly which somehow stops the problem temporarily... I'm so stuck does anyone know what the source to the problem(s) could be? Note: the exhaust is louder again but all the seals are bottled up and tight, no holes in the exhaust either Thanks
Riders Cam hi bud ok exhaust is it a sports exhaust if so it may need re- Wodding as in my video so follow that and that will help a lot with sound and pull away , if standard it may have a crack , most of this sounds like your carb this really does cause so many problems so follow clean carb video also make sure it's tight and needle is ok , air filter / plug and so on but do watch my other videos on these bits bud , hope that's a start for you and helps , please like share and subscribe , thanks mark
mark savage okay I think instead of cleaning the carb I might just get a new one as the previous owner didn't take care of the bike and the carb is filthy with compacted dirt all around it but thank you so much for your help and keep up the good work
mark savage oh and for the exhaust I have no clue I think it's a standard speed fight exhaust but the bikes had many problems... Guess that's why you don't just buy a cheap bike for £250
To be honest it was what ever I could get hold of so yes speedfight , aerox, dna, typhoon, zip, and a few others its a case of watching a few as most things are basically the same bud
Oh sweet. Where abouts are you bassed? I have an Piaggio Zip 70cc. Was running about 2 mouths ago but then did still to the carb and tryed to clean the piston head as well. Planning on buying an polini CP carb for it to see if it will start up! But right now the bike sounds like it wants to start good compression ect.. Eny suggests? Cheers mate
@@mad-man8079 like in my 70cc big bore kit don't do it videos They can be hard to set up and get not alone keep running The pistons often fail and don't really do much more than the 50cc !! Its not just the head but Carb and set up Plug ! Higher heat to one number up Oil mix of 2t so add some to fuel Coil / ht Variator and rollers upgrade Reeds should be good if they were before Then tune tune and air box
Hi pal, just got a speedfight 2 it starts after a while off kick as button dont work think its the relay.. Anyway it starts bogs out unless u rev it loads when back wheels off the floor but if dont rev it loads it bogs out and made a pop noise near exhaust/fan iv had it started since then so not blown up just dunno whats making it bog... Everytime i have to rev it loads unless will bog .. i ant looked over bike yet only had a week therr is a pipe missing off air box.. I saw one off ur vids saying some run fine without it some dont
hi bud well start with a service so plug , air filter clean carb like in my video'sthen if it still does it we can look as the jetting side of it and any thing else it might ne mark
Hi mark derestricted my 50 cc (just cut the wire)been running great for months 42mph on a straight.went down hill yesterday got up to 48mph bike vibrating engine high and then lost power.put put noise and engine died.tried to start up and very slow engine turn over and same put put noise.would not start.spark plug was nice and tight in engine,new carb recently put on.no oil leeks that I could see.please help.
Fist Of Blur Leath25 sounds like engine failure / piston -rings bud The g6y Engines do go like this that’s why they restrict them to 30 /35 mph It’s a big just to sort with the over head cam well bigger and hard than a 2t I’ve often just bought another engine for £100 and swapped it rather than taking it all apart lol Check compression it you can or chain You maybe be lucky to service it and worth a try before you call it dead The cdi do blow but you say you have spark ? And a wet plug? Mark
@@stephencresswell4760 hi mate just saw your reply,that problem was two years ago but it was a quick fix.the rubber pipe on the front of the carb that is screwed down on top of engine by two bolts has a plastic o ring between the pipe and engine.this had split and was letting air escape.i replaced it and all was well.
Hi Mark, got a problem with a 4T 50cc. It runs and starts perfectly unless it’s left for like an hour then it won’t start. The only thing that gets it going is if I turn the key off and on again and it’ll start instantly. Would you have any ideas as to why this is happening? Cheers.
hi bud how odd as turning on and of the key would only turn on the dash / clocks, it would have to be electrical then does it turn over when you try and start it after the hour ?, could be a short on the cdi or that the key is not connecting in someway but very odd but you have found a fix to keep you going however ive not heard of this problem mark
Hi mark, my bike was running sweet yesterday after cleaning the carb ect. But today I come to it and it ticked over for about 3 mins and cut out, and now it's doing this full throttle backfiring as I'm going to start it. Please help? And sorry that I keep asking, I do look through your other videos but can't find really what I'm after.
you do ask a lot lol guessing im helping you fix many mopeds ! sounds like the needle is getting stuck of your sucking in air, its all to do with the carb bud
@@marksavage lol yeah I had a ditech aprilia before couldn't get it running so sold it and ended up with a speedfight, I'm only 16 trying to get my first moped running mint, not having much luck lol.
My rescued 50cc Neos failed to start after 200 miles with a new piston/cylinder/head. Ring had broken up and made a right mess. Piston had melted around the ring pin. Putting it down to me not running it in, unknown oil and possible air leaks. Rebuilding again but will be more careful......
Going for 2t oil and maybe the oil pump not oiling the right amount maybe with a Cheap piston ! You refit sounds as it was done right Maybe add a little 2t to your tank as this was what I always did for the first tank full
@@marksavage Airsol piston. Fairly cheap. Expected more then 200 miles. Checked the oiler was working. Was using about 100ml per 5-6litres of fuel. Don’t like the auto lube though. Would rather premix any day. Using Mannol 2T oil this time. Trust that brand. Run it in and make sure everything is tight. The head bolts were not very hard to undo......
@@stephencresswell4760 rather that than then snapping lol , someone might of been there before you! Pump sounds like its running ok but can't hurt popping a little 2t in with the fuel except too much gumming up the plug lol If ac make sure the air cover is covering the head or lc water is doing it job
My bike is not starting it's sparking and getting fuel to it just had new piston and crank and so on but when u put fuel down the cyclender it back fires and smoke comes from the bottom gasket underneath the cyclender can u help me thanks
It’s the smoke for under the engine that doesn’t sound right ? Do a video and show me what your talking about along with what bike it is Why you changed the piston / head other parts And how did the bike stop
easy way to check if the piston is gone ( no comresion) just unscrew spark plug cover the hole with your finger and try to kick start it if your finger wont get pushed out that means your pistone is gone
hey mark, I was out on my speedfight 2 earlier and the oil light started flashing then it just cut out on me and wouldn't start back up, theres plenty of oil in, any suggestions of what it could be? thanks
Chad Rodgers was it the oil light or immob light? , got to start somewhere bud so check for spark, and plug ok fuel getting in . I have a few videos that will help on the checks bud have a look at them , please like and share subscribe , thanks mark
Chad Rodgers like in this. Video did you try opening up and trying to start and is it back firing? Piston? It's the norm if running one min then dies and won't start after ?? , mark
Chad Rodgers depending on the quality of the piston they can go again and again bud and maybe the light is that the oil is not getting in or pump not working well and causing it to go in the 1st place ! It's not a lot to Check but to me looking more likely to be piston . Mark
to be honest bud ive fitted 100s of heads and as in my videos I just know by hand how tight, as in my last videos cbr600 i'm moving house and all my manuals are packed so cant tell you but I do have 80 speedfight videos that will help bud
I've just got a speedfight one an my belt is warn down I can feel when pulling off going round corners aswell what could this be an I got another speedfight that goes backwards what can that be timing ?
hi bud change the belt and have a look at your rollers plus clutch as in my videos on this system and I have loads of other videos that will help over 50 lolspeedfight running backwards I have heard of this before, and it was a wrong starter fitted that turn over over the wrong way give that a look but it can really damage your engine !!hope that helps mark
mark savage basically the ped will run fine but when I go to pull away only sometimes it won't move but will still tick over fine an when I pull of when it doesn't do it it goes slow then has a burst at like 10 mph
yes defo have a look at the variator belt and clutch as it sounds like it could be to do with that or as in most of my video problem the good old carb maybe give that a look. mark
Hi Mark I was just wonder if you can help I have a boatian falcon 2 stroke it won't start it has a spark and it's getting fuel to it it will start once in a blue moon but when it's start it goes for about 30 seconds then dies

Hi Mark, I have a problem with my speedfight 2 when I was going up a hill on full throttle the bike bogged down and I let go and opened the throttle fully and it was good for like 5 seconds then it bogs down again I have cleaned the carb but the problem is still there the next day I was riding I came to a stop and opened the throttle and realized it died, tried to start it but nothing no splatter or anything tried kicking it also but nothing also tried with starting fluid can it be the piston?
I have another 70 speedfight videos that may help , type in speedfight mark savage and I have another channel were they are all on a play list however does sound like petrol, did you do the carb hand test as in my video spark plug ok and good spark pistons do go, test open up throttle and turn over if it pops and back fires it can be piston but go through basic steps first but my videos will help
Hey Mark how U going my scooter starts when I put my hand over the air intake once it start then I turn off it'll kick over Eazy but yer when it sits for abit it won't unless I repeat the above
Ok I'll give that ago I bought it of a guy bout week and abit ago and he didn't have a filter on it coz apparently it wouldn't run with one on he has put a 17.5mm carby coz he put a 70 kit, tecnigas sports exhaust so IV just got the crappy spunge filter on it as the housing on the air box he gave me with it no longer fits on the air intake IV been wonting to put the proper airbox on. Also the some reason cut the auto choke of so I just rewired it and have it connected again but yer only starts when put hand over the carb IV tryed tuning it but hasn't seams to do anything
@@jasoncosta3050 70 kit , wrong air filter and auto choke All problems bud Out back to standard but with a small upjet of 4 to 8 higher Sports inbox filter and tune like in my tuning video
hi bud so replace water pump and all air locks out , ran bike with cap off till all water ran fine. if so !! sounds like you may have a blocked head or piston gone , are you loosing water ? time to take the head off, I have many other videos that will help with over 70 videos on speedfights
Yea all seems fine no leaks all air bubbles out run bike with out cap on done all As should so guess I have to check piston thanks for all your help buddy really appreciate it give me a shout out if you do another speedfight video
That’s an odd place to have an oil leak which would look more like an crank / oil seal Which would be bad Check around to see it’s not the oil pump or pipe Which moped is it Yes bud do a video and upload it and as you have subbed let me know and I’ll take a look
hi bud I have a few video on fitting piston that are helpful with and without the arrow, however for yours make sure the piston ring clips are to the rear of the head but really they should have an indication which way round so worries me it's a cheap piston.make sure you use 2t oil to seat it in and kick over slowly once you tighten the head down but not too tight before a test kick then all the way once you know it seated right hope that helpplease like share and sub,mark
about how to know if your piston is gone there is another way to check it usncrew spark plug cover the hole with your finger and kick engine over if your finger isnt pushed up or you dont fell anything that baisicli means no compresion (bad piston , rings ) its just my way to check it :) sorry for bad english :D
rimantas sadeikis that helps but when the piston is scored or blown a little hole in it you still get compression So really if it’s back firing on open throttle and not starting after all the checks as in my 100 odd videos it’s still best to take off the head and check Thanks for watching and your advice Mark
they are smoke a little worth looking over it first with a service and carb clean, check for spark and fuel getting in, I have many videos that will help
Defo fuel problem Carb off Check fuel line then vacuum to see if fuel is coming out and going into carb Clean carb check float Like in my videos bud If not come back
