This man chose to build his legacy using his brother's number, who wasn't able to play anymore, because he realized how big of an influence he was on his own love of the game. Simply built different
"When you have a bad game and throw 2 or 3 interceptions, it's easy to come out. It's hard to stay in the game and avoid throwing number 4." Great wisdom by coach Mora.
"I SEE YOU BIG DADDY! I SEE YOU BIG DADDY!" Says the 350 lbs linemen that really starts pushing and pulling Peyton like he is one of them! I can not imagine how much that had to have motivated that team!!!
@@danilocastillo5714 Most people don't know how good he was. I would say Titans, Pats, Texans, Green Bay fans would really only know him outside of Colts... I was only having fun with the weight so I Googled his actual playing weight to make sure
“Explode the gun double right flip 0 scat left y drag x hook X-ray alert 52 sprint draw easy on 2 on 2..ready break” sheesh. That literally breaks down everything from the protect all the way down to snap count.
He literally taught me football. Watching him play was so entertaining from the audibles to the his actions on the field. He wasn’t a pretty runner, but he could run when he had to, pass so efficiently, and read the defenses. He made me study football. How many other quarterbacks can say that about a 45 year old female fan?
Peyton and I have a shared college professor: Jon Smith taught me in communication at Southern Utah University. He taught Peyton years before at Tennessee-Knoxville. Smith told us in lecture one time that Peyton gave the best presentation in class a student of his ever has. He talked about the atmosphere of coming out of the tunnel at Neyland Stadium to multitudes of raucous Vols fans. This is just another witness that he is a smart guy. There aren't many like him. I hope to meet him someday.
That's awesome. I didn't get to watch a whole lot of Peyton Manning, but he certainly seemed like a very smart guy when he was on the field. There's no doubt about that.
I really miss watching Peyton play... He broke the TD record in 2004 & again in 2014. PEYTON MANNING PLANNING COMEBACK IN 2024 TO BREAK PASSING TD RECORD AGAIN!!! =)
I’ve been waiting for him to return. He was amazing in Denver and when they won the SB he did mediocre but that was due to an injury. Peyton can still win a chip. He has 1 or 2 years left in him
@@jarvasedundy1 not really...the majorty of the qbs in the NFL now includojg most of the ones you mentioned can't read defenses is why you see them stand up an look to the sideline because the cant read the defense so they are doing like they did in college and looking to the sideline to see if the coach wants to change the play. The time of intelligent quarterbacks reading defenses is pretty much dead
@@richardgrace4500 Can't read defenses lol? Patrick Mahomes since becoming the starter in 2018, has thrown 76-17 touchdown to interception ratio. With a 108 QB rating and a 66% both seasons. And lead his team to a Superbowl victory this past season and has a NFL MVP under his reseune. Rusell Wilson has thrown for over 30+ touchdowns over the past 3 seasons and a 107 QB rating and over 64% with no star or superstar type WR. He's been one of the best premier QB's in the NFL Over the course of the 2010's decade 2012-present. Carson Wentz has battle injuries in his young career so far, but when he is healthy as shown 2017 and 2019 he threw for 33/7 101.9 QB rating and 63.9% 11-2 record. Last season 27/7 93 1 QB rating and 9-7 record and lead the Eagles to the playoffs. All 3 are top QB's in the NFL lol
Richard Grace that’s quite the shallow thought pattern. You were fortunate enough to watch the era with Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. Peyton Manning was pretty much built to be a quarterback. He had the genes and god given talent to become one of the best. Tom Brady is a case of someone having a massive chip on their shoulder. That’s why he was such a student of the game. Tom probably studied the game just as much or more than Peyton because he wasn’t gifted like him. Nevertheless, those two are special cases. Even then, it took Tom a few more years to even be a field general. Besides them, no one picks up the game that fast at QB where they know when to check out of plays. It normally takes at least 5 years before a QB steps up from being a game manager to field general. You talk as if current QBs won’t ever read defenses while disregarding the fact that most of the QBs playing now are young. Of course they can’t all read defenses yet. You also skipped over the fact defenses were a lot easier to read in the past, mainly because defenses were geared towards the run game. Today’s defenses are way more complex because the passing game has developed so much
@Philip Tucker *If you also read my comment, you would know my comment was from two months ago lol. The 2020 NFL season hadn't start yet and I was basing my list off from the 2019 season. Just freestyling so of course I left QB's off who are performing better than him this year than last season. He played well last season to say he didn't have most of his WR's fully healthy*
Man growing up watching Peyton Manning play for the Colts as a kid from Indiana was awesome. I miss the days of being able to watch Manning play, favorite QB by far.
Peyton is such an awesome ambassador for the game of football. Hard to quantify everything the Manning family has given to the NFL. AND he's one of the coolest dudes in pro sports. BTW is there an episode with Eli? If not you guys need to get on that ASAP.
Peyton Manning Number one overall pick by the Indianapolis Colts (1998) Most TDS in a single season (55) 5x League MVP 2x champion (SB41 with the Colts & SB50 with the Broncos) SB41 MVP 14x Pro Bowl 7x All Pro 1st Team 3x All pro 2nd Team 5,477 passing yards in a season (single season record) 71,940 yards (2nd most in league history) & 539 TDS (3rd most in league history) in his career with the Denver Broncos & Indianapolis Colts
That blue face mask is SOOO nostalgic. Wish my colts would bring it back. My dad was buried in a peyton manning jersey, ill be a LIFELONG manning AND MORE IMPORTANTLY a colts fan! #fortheshoe
When Payton retired from the NFL so did I. I still watch the classic games and features but I haven't watched an NFL since the 2015 SB. I miss him, I miss the excitement, elation and disappointment of watching him play, but there'll never be anyone like him ever again. (I thought the same thing when Walter Peyton retired and I was right.)
I consider myself LUCKY to have watched the "sheriff" his whole career in indy. He built lucas oil stadium and he will ALWAYS be a colts LEGEND. #fortheshoe #sheriff #MVPCHAMP #2rings #ONEoftheGTEATS
GOOD LORD I MISS WATCHING THIS MAN PLAY! He will FOREVER be a TITAN amongst men in the game and what a CLASSY, HUMBLE, RESPECTFUL, TEAM player. One of the GREATS HANDS DOWN!
20:40. Of all of the touchdowns he’s thrown, I really enjoyed his description of this one being one of his favorites. Throwing the ball to his receivers right as the receiver is juking to the left and still hasn’t looked back, then breaks back to the right. Breaks the DBs ankles. Perfect timing and location on the throw. Good stuff.
He is football... a pure joy to watch and listen... also painful short comings in the playoffs... not the most accomplished, skilled, clutchiest, or biggest winner QB... but he is masterpiece... As T.O. would say: "That's my quaterback" (with tears on my eyes)
My two older brothers are HUGE Peyton fans. One even jumped teams from colts to broncos when Peyton got signed with them. Didnt know Peyton took on the number 18 for his big brother Cooper💪🏾 nothing like brotherly love🙌🏽💪🏾❤️
4 Super Bowls with 4 separate coaches. 5 MVPs. Single season touchdown and passing yard record holder. Most 4th quarter comebacks of all time. Most prolific passer of all-time, period.
@@ethanproctor363 Teams win rings. The Patriots have the highest average DVOA through the 2 decades Bill has been running the team. Defenses win championships time and time again. You could plug in various HOF QBs to the Patriots, give them Randy Moss, Gronk, Welker, and a system that turns scrubs into serviceable role players. Theyd win just as many rings together.
Peyton raised the level of commitment of the guys around him. They studied harder and worked harder. That is the true sign of greatness, no matter what field you are in. He would've done the same if he was a teacher or a firefighter. That is why I respect him so much.
I started watching football around 2003 because there was nothing else on during Sundays. The ease and confidence in which Manning controlled his environment made learning how the game is played fun, enjoyable, and a pleasure. "It"s not mania, or magic, it's flat out mastery of a craft." You are missed, Peyton. Thank you for all these years of unforgettable memories.
He might not have the most rings or may not be considered "the greatest", but when people say "playing QB is an art form", the first thing in my mind is Peyton Manning.
Watching this team during my middle school through high school years was nothing short of amazing. I remember thinking back that every year they could beat my Miami dolphins undefeated record, watching Peyton throw those beautiful balls was fun to watch. I miss watching the battles of him and patriots
13:50 -- this is why Peyton is one of the few who could play in any era of football. He called entire games and the line, just like the guys in the 1950's. But he was doing it even better than any of them.
There's one thing that I have absolutely no doubt about, that Archie Manning did one hell of a job as a father, and a man in general. His family was always more than provided for, and raised to perfection.
I’ve seen this and was just about to pull it back up.. rolled right into the next video from Ray and Eddie’s rivalry. Best part for me is him call his own block and his teammate come over and give him props. Peyton is a great role model. Work hard. But don’t forget to have fun in whatever u do.
Hearing him talk about 49 the way he did... little did he know he'd go on to throw 55. Grew up watching Manning, and football has never been the same since. I just wish I could have spent more time appreciating what we were seeing from him and Brady earlier on. Absolutely unreal that those two men played in the same era.
I use to hate Peyton been a pats fan but man I miss him every year the season starts! Football is only as great as it rivals and he was the best QB we ever played against 👊🏻
For me, Peyton Manning is the best there is. Yeah, he doesn't have all the super bowls that other have, but Peyton was special. I loved watching him play. Those Manning-Brady games were like little Super Bowls every year for me and my family. Great times.
Man it was so much fun during these days being a colts fan I have Peyton to thank for a ridiculous amount of good memories times with parents times with friends at the dome or at Lucas watching games at champps or Damon’s. Nothing better
One of the reasons why Peyton is one of, if not my all-time favorite NFL player. My dude didnt need a coach to be a HOF QB. He was a on-field coach already!
The Colt's were tough to defend as they ran with 3 WR, 1 TE & 1 RB most of the time which puts their best playmakers out there on the field. They passed/ran, threw screens & ran the 2 minute drill from that formation. That kept the defense out of their base and had to put a nickel DB on the field all the time.
I grew up 10 minutes away from the Hoosier Dome. I can speak for every football loving Indianapolis resident when I say we loved Peyton. When he went to, they gained thousands of fans, instantly.
I promise you, I really can't say I never liked Mr. Manning but when he won his last ship before retiring... I STILL believe that game was a gift to his retirement. This vid was great for me, knowing he was actually a really cool, fair dude.
20:58 👀 So Dope. That’s the stuff I LOVE to see HighLighted. I remember when Aikman & those Cowgirl championship runs were beasting it up and Madden did one of those illustrating how early he was throwing to Irivin before even coming out of the breaks. That’s when I 1st realized as a kid how ahead of it all those NFL players are. I know they are already starting to make plays like that in HighSchool they’re attempting to, that’s where they’re learning the game , then in college they get a lot of plays like that & in The NFL they all do it But... BUT... thee very best are able to do it just a little earlier and @ a more frequent pace of getting off those throws like illustrated here in this video. Manning wasn’t setting records because every QB & every team can get it done properly. In The NFL they all get it done @ times but the Manning’s , Brady , Rodgers they are doing those anticipation throws @ a far higher clip. Now you have Mahomes who can hit those and then when he isn’t able to make that happen he no looksies it as the pocket collapses. lol Those Dudes are GOATS Montana is being pushed off The QB Rushmore with Mahomes coming in. Hard to say and hard to call May just have to make it Rushmore 5. LaMar overall is a Great QB, his legs are the best ever , even over Vick and he can flick it 85yards. LaMar & Vick are so much alike just Left Vs Right hands LaMar really is Vick 2.0 because he’s better than Vick ever was and @ every aspect of QB. He’s more accurate and 1 of the only people in the world that can flick it up there with Vick. Then you have MAHOMIE. FUGETABOUDIT
Never knew there was a reason he wore 18. That's awesome. I am a long time Seahawks fan and I truly think Peyton Manning is the greatest QB of all time. What a good guy.
Mike Vanderjagt once famously questioned Peyton's leadership abilities in a TV interview, yet you saw an awful lot of images of him making a point of being right there next to Peyton.
Ill NEVER forget where i was when i watched MY FIRST colts superbowl when. Had the PRIVILEGE to watch it with my father, he died 6 yrs later. I live in his old house now, to this day, SAME house we WATCHED OUR COLTS when the superbowl in! It DOESN'T get ANY betrer than that. #bleedblue
