Original air date: November 2, 1967 on ABC. Connie & Elliot travel home after visiting Rachel, also informing Mike of Rachel's outstanding recovery......Leslie orders Eddie to murder Martin Peyton......
So funny seeing those old pay phone booths and them putting a dime or whatever coin into them and using a rotary dial for the number. And those cars back then. My God, they look like battleships compared to the little plastic cars of today that are half their size of back then. Martin Peyton is a sly old fox who plays chess with people's lives. LIke this old series much more than today's dribble like General Hospital or The Young And The Restless. Now that I am fully retired from my second professional career I have time to waste watching Peyton Place. Being retired is not so bad.
Life was wonderful back then. You could leave your house or apartment unlocked, so a friend could come in while you were away, without fear of being robbed! They'd have the fireplace burning bright and hot for your return home from a long trip on a cold winter's night...aahhh...bliss. Today? NOT so much.
Nah, he didn't. He knew she had a crush on him and it made him uncomfortable. He tried often to discourage her, but she was determined; that is until she went bonkers.
It is so codependent to hear one parter request the other one never leaves again, and the partner make the promise. The conversation between Elliott and Connine in the car on the way home was a disappointing one coming from two mature adults who have lived through many experiences. What happens to nuclear families that makes their life beome so closed and mundane? We all make a difference other people's lives, and that means making time for friends and time for personal growth. Elliott should have been supportive and encouraging to Connie for doing something kind for someone who needed her.....besides his own need not to feel lonely and his need to take responsibility for himself.
That's one busy wharf, isn't it? Just where are all those people going anyway? It's simply a small-town wharf, not a mecca for commerce, not 19th-century Hong Kong during the height of the opium trade! Great scene between Eddie & Leslie. What a shocker---the latter ordering Jacks to kill Martin Peyton! If only this can happen! As much as I love the series, had MacReady not been a member of the cast, and dominating the storylines so, it would've been a much different---that is to say, better---show. I'm sick of his machinations, sly looks, & whispery voice. Oh, how I wish he'd go away for good! Please come through for me---and Leslie---Eddie. PLEASE!!
Sounds like old man Peyton is demented/confused as he originally wanted Betty to get back with Rodney but with his intentions of marrying this high cost call girl she will end up with all the loot and not any of his so-called heirs nor likely Betty. The plot is forever changing and is starting to be a tad ridiculous!
Eddie wants money for Rita. Les is just as greedy and willing to contract for Peyton's murder to see that he administers the Peyton estate. Les is despicable!
