Mr. Dave C. - I just found your channel recently. I've been watching your videos relentlessly since finding your channel. It makes me happy to see the things you do and to learn from you. I think you are a great man of wisdom and strength both in spirit and body as one would have to be to have gained skills such as yours. I hope one day to have a cabin in the woods or some such thing and to live more self sufficiently and maybe even teach others to do so as well. I guess that's just a dream of mine but dreams are attainable if we work hard enough towards them. Thank you for inspiring me. I also enjoy your website, I hope to see one of the knives come back in stock the bushcraft basic as it seems to be the most appealing to me for the price point. There as so many awesome tools. Anyways I'm starting to babble but hoped you might see this comment as it's one of the early ones cuz you just posted this video. I am twenty seven years old and living in Minnesota. Signed, A fan, Tony P.S. dual survivor was never the same after you left, couldn't watch it.
Dave, I've been following your channel for a short time and today I saw something I was longing to see, that is someone skinning and swishing game. Two thumbs up and a million thanks.
Really enjoyed this vid Dave. I am an extreme novice when it comes to hunting/trapping, you give confidence through your vids & teaching. Keep up the good work. Thx.
Love these types of videos. I'm a huge hunter and trapper, but last year I was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer and it's made it hard to get out and do that sort of stuff simply because I'm out of shape and the chemo kind of drags me down. But watching these videos and with my dad's help it really gives me the strength and motivation to get out there and keep going. Thank you for making these videos.
Oldie but goodie, thanks to you Dave I got my certified trapping permit and licence and can't wait to get out and get some food and fur .Thanks for all the great videos I've learned so much and it helped in my test as well .
Awesome video Dave. Man I like that axe you were using on the squirrel. I'm a sucker for a good axe. Great trap set up. Looking forward to the other videos. Stay safe brother.
Looks like a forest axe. Not sure about the maker but Granfors Bruks and some of the other swedish dudes make some damn good axes. I think Dave has videos about his preferred pack axes.
[ thumbs up!! ] Though I haven't had the time I'd like, I can't recall a channel within the genre conveying more real world, pragmatic value proposition that doesn't shy away from the nitty gritty / down and dirty. Dave Canterbury, splendid content!
I've been killing and skinning squirrels for 30 plus years- and I think his way is better because its faster and would definitely be easier for someone new to learn. I'm gonna try it next time.
You'll never starve, you shot, skinned and redy that squirl to cook in under 3 minutes! ..I like the short montage with music (adds professionalism) and various shots...Drones are really cheep now...you could show us the pathfinder property from the air! Like the 'NEXT DAY' shot in this video.
After seeing how short your hair is here, I had to look at the upload date again...what year was this originally shot?...I've been watching your vids from the oldest forward.
i've always followed an ancient policy to never eat the viscera of other predators. it contains too much vit A, and there's skeletal remains of ancient man with a fibrous growth on their bones, believed caused from doing this. it was probably a debilitating condition, which would be fatal in a hunter gatherer lifestyle.
do you get a lot of pushback from animal activist or RU-vid for this content? I personally want to do it on my channel but don't want to deal with legal issues
outdoorstech you can make a video where you thank the animal for its life and you can even show that you eat all the meat and some people would still call you an animal abuser
totally agree it's just one of those things I was curious about. I know youtube has been doing some stuff about not being suitable for ads and I hate that because we are just showing our lifestyle
I hope to see how you cook the squirrel. I cooked a couple i shot with a pellet gun over a fire on a spit with old bay. Kind of tough but 40 grams of protein is worth the chew.
I always wondered if the people who hunt coyotes ate the meat...I thought they were just after the hides. great video man. me and my son love it. wales, uk.
It’s a survival channel based on surviving in the woods and if ur gonna try to do that u better get some meat in u ounce in awhile or die with ur principles in tact
theman1477 well it's part of it and if he'd included it it would have been for learning purposes. They don't just lay down and die for you once they're trapped.
