the problem North compared to 2019 is the swing and putting feels like a pin ball machine...The tempo and swing speed felt just right in 2019 where this one feels to fast and unnatural. Maybe it takes time to get use to but something doesn't feel right.
Oh it definitely takes a bit of time to get used to. But once you get a proper feel for it, if you then go back to 2019 you'll think the opposite. That game genuinely does look amd feel like you're playing in slow motion, which imo is actually unnatural. As Rich Been actually commentates saying in career....putting is finesse game, and pulling the stick back slowly compared to quickly for shots from off the green is definitely that finesse feeling. It's just the muscle memory that people have from 2019 which needs to go, and once it does....it'a SO rewarding!!
Hi brad, you're welcome and thank you also. To be honest....not sure what way I can do anymore at the moment due to how personalised we can make the game for ourselves in terms of club selection and game/swing difficulty. But have one in mind that should be good for all playstyles. Hopefully be up soon.
Hey Chad, thanks for the feedback. Glad you find the video helpful. The only place I personally suggest leaving the meter on is for putting if you feel more consistent with it. But recommend turning it off for any shots from off the green, as it can mess up your tempo due to being focused more on it and snapping the stick forward trying to get the white zone.
Great video North, I'm actually finding the putting a lot easier but getting my downswing tempo is a real challenge for myself. Playing Pro difficulty. But I'm getting there and love the new game.
Thanks Kevin. Gkad you're enjoying the game. I'm loving the learning curve again and having to basically forget some if not a lot of what would be muscle memory from the years of playing the previous 3 games. Really enjoying the new challenge, even on pro difficulty as well.
@@Orangeman96 I can't remember if you told me before which timezone you're in? Don't know why but my brain struggles to remember some things! But I do usually be on most nights between 8.30 and 9pm until around 2am GMT. After a certain time though I'm not able to use the mic due to my son and missus being in bed.
Hi Stephen Thanks for that. My first round at Q school +11 lol Thats on Pro. Its was just the putting. I dont have the power bar or the feedback switched on, so I am just going by feel - same as 2019, but I just have to do a mental reset on the power. I need a bit of practice thats all. Cheers Doug
Thanks Doug. Just replied in a couple of other comments as well about this....if you used the count method in 2019, it does actually still work in this game. I tested it last night and was getting some decent results. So even without the power bar or feedback on, pulling the putter back slowly and doing the count is achievable. It's just a matter of finding the sweet spot for the speed of the count depending on the speed of the greens, it's similar but just needs to be fine tuned.
Great video. Thank you. You could still use a count method, but just a different style, with the slower back swing. You are absolutely right about muscle memory.
Thanks steve. You're correct there. We can still use the count. I was playing around around with it last night and was getting some decent results doing it while slowly pulling back. It's just a case of finding that sweet spot for the count speed now depending on the speed of the greens.
I was frustrated as fuck for the first hour or so with putting until I changed to Pro and realized that how far you pull it back affects how fast the bar goes. Now I just need to figure out my fast/slow issue. I've recalibrated atleast 5 times and still am getting fast/slow even though I feel like I'm shooting it with the same downswing as a perfect.
Yeah pulling back slowly is definitely required for a smooth putt. I think when it comes to the fasts and slows out on a course in particular, it's down to connection as well as the system generating/rendering the details of the course. Whereas in the driving range it doesn't have to render as much. Could be completely wrong though.
@@North47 Possible, I'm playing on Xbox for the first time (Originally PC for 2019, but won the code on a stream. Will be going back to PC when I got the money to buy the game). So I'm using my xbox controller wireless connected to my xbox on the other side of the wall in my living room, and streaming it via the xbox app on windows. Streaming it, or connection with the controller MAY be the issue. But it's a pretty thin wall, hard to think that would affect it.
@@zippolight2002 that could certainly be the issue there actually! When I play myself I always have the controller wired, mostly to cut out input lag, but also for my headset. The 2 conflict with eachother if both using bluetooth. However with my headset, I can walk around a fair bit and not lose the signal, but if I go outside for a smoke with it on while listening to music, I start to get a choppy signal and do be literally only a few metres away from the PS4.
@@North47 Interesting, I wonder if I'll have better luck plugging it into my PC like I did for 19. Though, not sure how much input lag that would create since it's going through the PC for commands instead of straight to the xbox. Either way, something to try.
Definitely!!! Absolutely love what they've done this time around. Even though pro swing is essentially TGC2019's master clubs, you can still get rounds that go bad, just from one poor shot!
I’m tired of these hybrids and woods in the stock bag. I’d rather swap to irons like I had in the golf club. But when I swap out clubs I only see 3 and 4 irons.
Hi Iggy. Some things have changed for clubs. The 2W as well as 1 and 2 irons are completely gone that I know of. Some clubs also, when purchased won't be available through the whole set. Example being the Callaway Mavric irons. One version of them are only available in 4 and 9 iron. It also seems, from what I can see that you need to have 1 wood and a hybrid, or 2 woods in the bag and then 6 irons and 4 wedges. But I haven't fully tinkered around with the club selection options.
I am currently playing on Xbox One on Pro difficulty and am not getting the reading of the elevation of the putts. What setting would this be for me to check the setting?
Hi Todd, do you have any of the true shot assists on in the difficulty settings? These will take into account certain things for each one and you won't see the info on screen.
Another great video! You have helped me again!! Thanks 😊 putting was terrible now much improvement! Thanks again! Need your help please with wedges can't decide which to buy?
I’m having a lot of trouble with actually putting the ball. Like I slowly pull it back but when I try to push the analog forward , it goes back to addressing the ball like a practice putt. Any help?
The same happens to me alot, it is very annoying, i hope they bring out a patch to fix the putting, or oi will stop playing it. It is just to annoying to putt. On the short putts, it can take me sometimes at least 5 attempts before it hits the ball
what game controller do you use to play the game North? I have use a logitech controller and there's no vibration. I don't use the power bar as it seems like a bit of a cheat to me.
Hi robby, I just use a stock dualshock 4 (the version 2 that released alongside the PS4 pro). I've never used any controllers other than the dualshocks. I don't know if the logitech controllere have vibration built in. But if they do, it may be switched off in the system settings? But the vibration when putting can be very subtle and easy to miss. If you're getting vibrations from any shots not on the green, then it will be there for putts also. Pull the stick back only a tiny bit and hold it there, just enough to start the putter coming back.
Do you know why on short putts I have to pull back and forward multiple times before it will register? I've never had this problem before but now it's constant on anything less than 3 ft. It's like its forcing perfect timing on me or something?
Just so I am clear, in previous games, *you* are figuring out the power (by counting/timing). But in 2K, you are letting the game *tell* you when to strike by way of the Haptic feedback?
Hi RicksGameMisc. You still have to work everything out, but the controller vibrates with the haptic feedback once you reach the required distance on the backswing for the putt (and other shots also). It's very subtle on putts though. But like the power bar in the difficulty settings, the haptic feedback can be turned off in the controller settings. It's very good for anyone who has struggled with putting in the previous games, or may be new to the franchise and find the putting difficult at first.
Hi Michael. For the beads and/or green line method what I do first is, see which direction is breaking more in terms of how many lines/beads are breaking that particular way. So for example if the putt was breaking right to left, then left to right, with the majority being the latter....I'll judge how much the left to right will break first. If that left to right looks as though I'd need to aim to the first line left of the hole and the right to left looks like it will break half way between the hole and first line right of the hole then I'll move the marker to half way between the hole and first left line. I've probably made that sound very confusing, sorry.
North47 that makes sense. I’ve watched your video several times and am trying to figure out what bead up by the hole you were aiming at once the first bead by your feet crossed in front of your feet. Or were you using the bead on the line half way between you and the hole and where it crossed in front of your feet? I’d like to try the second method but am confused 🤷♂️!
Hey pal, thanks. After pressing triangle you can use the sticks to move the camera around. Up and down on the left stick will pitch the camera up and down, up and down on the right stick will move the camera forward and back. If that's working, check your camera & presentation settings to make sure approach & putting camera is turned off. This only needs to be on if you're playing true sim and have most or all aids off.
Thanks for the tips brother! I’ll definitely keep practicing. I play on pro difficulty and when I try to bring the putter back nice and slow it stops and goes back like a stutter of some sort. Not sure if it’s just me not used to it or my controller. If you had that issue at some point can you elaborate on how to make it better?
Hey DeVaughn, no problem. You may have heard, or even noticed if played since, but the issues yourself and others were having with the swing (putting in particular), were patched server side last night. A small amount of people are still reporting slight issues, otherwise should be ok now. The haptic feedback is very good in my opinion, especially for partial swings but also for putting. The only one I recommend everyone ditches is the power bar as it throws off your tempo due to being focused on hitting that white zone.
Hi Jesse. I do indeed now. When the game was released I wasn't, but once I got used to the faster backswing and pulling back slowly I started using it again. I show it in a recent video of my warm up routine.
Can you help with the swing im playing on line and I can't hit a straight shot you are given pro clubs to play every one i play against is doing the same
Hey David. What I've found myself for achieving a fairly straight line consistently is to change the angke of the controller again. For 2019, I held the controller at around 25-30° with my left thumb pointing towards the right stick. For this game that wasn't working, so I dialed the angle back bit by bit and found the one that gives the most consistent result.
Now that you cant use the D-Pad, have you ever thought about trying to somehow use the stick by the same method, I have tried it when teeing off or on approach to the greens & it kind of works for me
I'm actually talking with hippy himself now about it to see how he's getting on with that method. I'm sure there's a work around for having to use the sticks. It works fairly well for wind on tee and approach shots, but need to fine tune the "clicks" on the stick for putting.
Hey Al, sorry for the late reply. I haven't tested it yet myself. But hippy himself and a couple of other people have said it does still work with the stick, but requires a very fine touch/flick. Could be quite a bit different from person to person for getting the adjustments right.
Hi corey. No need to feel dumb mate!! When on the green, press triangle, similar to when using the scout cam to loom down the fairway or into the green for an approach shot. After that use the stick to move the camera around. I'm actually not sure if it changes deoending on the stick you use to swing....but if you use the left stick for swinging, that will be the one that moves the camera up and down. Also don't forget to have the approach and putting camera option turned off in the camera settings. If this is turned on, it won't let you move the camera forward and back with the right stick (possibly left if you swing with the right stick).
My swing when putting wont let me swing that slow. I’m on PS4 and it won’t register at a slow speed so I have to swing it faster and it’s just to jerky
A couple of people have replied with what I going to say myself. Someone over in the facebook group said about it happening to them, changed which stick they swing with and then had no problems, so could be a case of the stick wearing out depending on how old your controller is. Another that I'm thinking could be causing it is, I've noticed when it happens for me I'm playing with the controller wireless but once I connect the cable and the usb overrides the bluetooth it stopped happening.
Hey pal. I don't use it out on courses myself so don't know if it's possible, but in the practice facility when you set the putt previews to unlimited you can use it as many times as you wish before taking a putt. You'll find the option somewhere in the difficulty settings. Apologies for the late reply also.
So hard Im either going past the vibe and knocking it 30 foot by or starting down early and ending up 20 short. Tee to green on masters im going ok, but 3 or 4 four putts a round is killing me.
Putting is very sensitive on master swing! The timing zone for each is next to none, but using the slow pull back of the putter and count from tgc2019 will help dial in the power/weight a bit better. Taking a couple of backswings before striking the ball while doing these will help get a feel for where the vibration is also.
Ya can still use the bead counting/ D pad tapping method. If ya tap ya right stick to the edge quickly it's about the same as a tap on the D pad. Ya just have ta play with it a bit and workout how much ya need ta tap it. I take it you're on X -box or PC? Is your putting doing this like it is on PS4?ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UO1V1yz1NGs.html Ya can't putt like you're sayin atm. Basically if ya take the putter back too slowly it won't execute the putt on the down swing. It got worse after they updated it the other day rather than better. I'm playin it without the update installed atm. They've already made it way too touchy compared to TGC2 2019 and now it's even worse. It's like I'm gettin penalised for gettin closer to the hole. It's utter bs and damn near unplayable the way it is atm on PS4. I hope it's patched soon......again. There's a lot of people, including myself that are pretty pissed about it :-(
Hey Russell, I must give it a go. Haven't tried yet as these 2 methods are working pretty well for me, and quicker to do, especially for a video. I'm on PS4 myself. I've been testing the issue with the putting, and passed things on to the devs. I found myself, that when I play wireless I can't execute the putts. But when the DS4 is connected via cable and the communication method set to usb instead of bluetooth there's no issues at all. I play with the controller wired 99% of the time so never experienced the issue until I started testing what it could be. It seems like it's an issue on Sony's end with the bluetooth signal between the PS4 and DS4. But if the devs can find a work around without having to completely redo the putting, hopefully it won't take long.
@@North47 Ah ok, I might have to try pluggin in then. I just read a comment from someone saying that they plugged their headphones into the controller and reckon it fixed the issue. Not sure why pluggin the headphones in would make a difference if it's a bluetooth issue but he seemed to think it fixed it so who knows. Anyway, hope the devs get it sorted so we don't have to plug in all the time. I'm not even sure if I've got cables that are long enough lol
Just a very fine movement on the stick. But could be one or a combination of the stick wearing/worn out and whether playing with the controller wireless instead of wired using the usb setting.
No, 14 minutes to show and describe 2 very good puttings methods....then explain and show how the putting swing speed is different now compared to TGC2019, which a lot of people couldn't get the hang of due to being stuck with the muscle memory and mindset of TGC2019.
Another great video! You have helped me again!! Thanks 😊 putting was terrible now much improvement! Thanks again! Need your help please with wedges can't decide which to buy?
Hi Ernest. You're very welcome, and delighted I've been able to help you again. To be perfectly honest about clubs....it's all down to what is your personal preference. That's the beauty of the game now, is that if you want to get longer shots from your clubs you can, bit will lose some control at the same time. Or you can go with more control but a little less distance. Personally myself, I've found the wedges I'm using (TaylorMade Sim Max OS) have a decent balance of distance and control.
