I think the point of the calibration is to shoot what feels natural, not try to adjust your swing... then that becomes your perfect when you come out of calibration. if you naturally swing a bit faster thats fine it will become your perfect after you calibrate.
The point of the calibration is to try and put everyone on an even playing field as there was alot of disparity between platforms with alot of people saying ps4 was the easier out of all of the platforms' It will take an average of all 10 swings and try find that sweet spot so everyone is on a similar swing taylored to youre tempo..👍
Great video Jim. Loving how they are giving us so many customisation options on the difficulty. Should make it fun for all to play. So excited to get swinging on this. Great channel mate, keep the vids coming.
THe million dollar question will be if the Society owner can dictate the difficulty settings for the rounds played within the society. The wing improvements are nice along with a much more realistic swing speed. There seems to be a bit more fine detailing on the grass and bunkers but overall the improvement is minimal when you look at the scenery. Players still look the same.
After playing this game for a couple of days, I think the swing mechanics are a nightmare when using mouse. I wish they just had a 3 click swing option for mouse instead of forcing people to use this horrible swing control.
Yeah i'm a M&K player with most games but this is not one of them' In the original game they where not even going to implement m&k' Even if you dont use a controller for other games you should try thinking about getting one' game is so much better with controller..👍
HI Jim Thanks for the overview - very informative. Also heartened to hear that you like it and that it is a big improvement on 2019. On first view it looks great to me. Ive seen some negatives but to be honest - I mean what do people want ? Am sure there will be a few issues with it, lets face it nothings perfect, but as I said looks great to me. Great intro video Jim! I can't wait to get my hands on this upgraded version of the game. My wife and I play match play in/on TGC 2019, with her as the invited guest. Do you know if the calibration process can be done and resulting calibration saved for a guest - in my case, my wife?
Well you can change all the difficulty settings for guests so i would presume so that calibration would also be there for it pretty cool having youre wife play also..👍⛳
Thanks Jim, this will be one of the first things I check out when I get the game. A long Ontario Canada winter, topped off with Covid-19 isolation, gave my wife and I lots of time to play TGC 2019. We always checked your channel to see what courses you had played - and enjoyed - so we could follow suit. Speaking of match play, one of the features I hope made it to 2K21 is the ability to concede a hole. Nothing worse than 1 player landing a shot a foot from the hole and the other player ending up in the rocks and / or trees and having to take a bunch of shots in order to either hole out or get in between the other ball and the hole. With no doubt in anyone's mind who is going to win the hole, it would be nice to be able to end the suffering by having the ability to concede. I have my fingers crossed....
Me too Jim. The course builder is not a deal breaker and rumours of a update at a later date. Due to circumstance the switch version would give me More opportunity to play. Looking forward to your opinion on the full game.👍

Don't quite get what you are asking' But if it's about the Haptic feedback on the controller' It's more of a slight buzz rather than a rumble when youre swing gets to that 100%' Depending where you have set youre marker..

Depending what difficulty setting you have it on' knock it down and play until you get the feel for it' They really have tightened the swing and tempo up...👍⛳
Honestly this game to me isn’t worth 60$. The reason being the whole MyPlayer really upset me.. I wanted to like start out with a new character and like upgrade attributes as I play more, like the OG tiger woods. And the graphics really aren’t that great.. people in crowds look completely unrealistic, buildings are choppy
I respect that it's not for evryone' But it's not just about the gfx this is a community driven game' Yes it has a Career mode' but in the end once that's done it's the user created courses that keep this going' Take TW or Rory where you had to play the same courses over and over again' This game will end up with a library of courses in the thousands' It's also about the gameplay' It can play as easy or as hard as you like' Then you have TGCTours which mimics the real life schedule of the PGA/Euro/Korn Ferry and challenge circuits every week thousands of players battling it out against each other' But as i said i get it' It's not for everyone..👍⛳

i find it extremely difficult to dial in the swing thus far! i reckon there must a specific way to calibrate to compensate for the fast swing. either that or my joystick is rubbish 😂
Give it time' Honestly that's all it is' You got to go at this as something completely different from 2019' I'm over 60hrs in and im still hitting fasts/slows alot' The tempo is so tight now there is hardly any wiggle room in it' What setting you playing on' drop down one till you get used to it..👍
I found this too.. then I realised, during your swing calibration you NEVER want to go into the red over swing part of your back swing, because this exaggerates any error in your down swing.. Once I did the calibration only using the white part of my backswing. I could hit perfects again and again, as long as I stayed away from the red over swing bar.
Only exception I take is a fade/draw is a function of an open/closed club face. So long as you know where your hands are, what they are doing, and are able to keep them steady, a slow tempo won't drive the ball offline and neither will a fast tempo. While I don't have that control now (I'm 60 years old, btw), when I was playing 30 to 40 years ago, I controlled the steadiness of my hands on a regular basis. I used the downswing tempo as a distance control tool when I was between clubs. Other than that, this looks great.
@@jimgem I've played all 3 so far and I'm sure I will. All except the fake fade/draw that's based on tempo. Just have to take the bad with the good. And from what I've seen, there's a whole lot more good than bad. Being able to take less than a 100% swing fairly accurately is a HUGE step up.
@@kellyrayburn4093 I totally agree with you on draw / fade being based on tempo...they're totally unrelated. In real life, you can hit a draw with a slow tempo and you can hit a fade with a fast tempo. I wish they based draw/fade based on the swing path. In/Out = Draw, Out/In = Fade.
You guys didn't understand correctly what was happening with the fast or slow "tempo" or swing speed. It's not causing the ball to draw per se with a fast swing, its causing it to hook, and slice with a slow swing speed. And for a fact, swinging to fast can cause the ball to hook, but it can also cause it to slice, lol. Draws/fades and hooks/slices, while face positioning is important, depends more on whether you're swinging inside to out is generally going to result in a draw/hook, and outside to in is generally going to fade/slice. And having a closed club face and swinging outside to in will generally result in the ball being pulled to the left. There's a lot of intricacies that go into a golf swing, probably far to many to recreate accurately in a video game. So it's the games way of kind of showing some examples. If you look at the part where he has to hit a fade, you can see the swing path is different than the regular shot.
@@danschumacher4553 Swinging fast or slow won't cause the club head to go inside out or outside in. Motion of the arms cause that. I've used slow swing speed in real life on purpose as a distance control tool when I'm between clubs. I keep my arms and wrists stiff so it won't go inside out or outside in. And guess what? Even with the slow swing speed the ball still didn't go off line unless the wind and/or lie pushed it off line. Maybe the hookslice for a fastslow swing should decrease as you level up. That would be perfectly fine and more in line with reality. The higher the level, the more you've played. The more you play, the better you get. Thinking back, this sounds like the best option as when I first started, I did hook and slice all over the place and not just with a slow or fast tempo. But as I got better this happened less and less.
That was a problem with 2019' as soon as they start losing' they rage quit' Bit ridiculous tbh but that's the sad state of online gaming these days' Havn't jumped into it yet' But have they not now implemented if whoever disconnects/leave they get a loss and the other gets the wwin?..👍⛳
My biggest gripe about tgc 2019 was how unrealistic the green speeds were on all shots into the green. Woods could roll all the way across a green and highly lifted irons could still roll out an extra 15+ feet on a level green. Have you noticed any improvements on this at all?
Alot of that came down to designers' if you play on moderate greens you can stick most greens' The loft and spin has totaly changed in this game also im still using the generic clubs' I think once you get a full set of clubs with different attributes you can kind of taylor to how you want to play..👍
I had the same issue and complaint. I found the game enjoyable until I reached the green when things seemed very random and inconsistent. Dumped the game b/c of that issue.
I’m a couple of hours into Career mode (on PS4) and I’m definitely having that issue. I’ve also noticed that as wind speed increases, everything tends to get more difficult. By which I mean the greens even seem to change (slope, etc) as you progress through an event. I’m hoping that as I earn new gear, I’ll be able to dial-in the controls. I’m also a bit nervous that we’ll need to spend real-world money to progress. Which is a deal breaker for me.
I'm only playing pro and there are two more above that and pro for me is harder than master clubs on TGC2019' But then you have all the options to taylor the difficulty the way you want it to play..👍⛳
I'm sure it's pro settings' With x3 putt preview and some other things that i'm not quite sure of' I know TGCTours are going to be using master on ther tours' Bur apart from that there will be a good mix i presume just jum in and check some out..👍⛳
am i the only one struggling with putting? i was a pretty good putter with 19, but on ps4 this will not let you pull the putter back gently...extremely difficult to tap a 3 foot putt or do smooth a 6 foot putt...pretty frustrating...
Some are loving it like me' But some are hating it but if you say you can't get a nice slow backswing for the putter then hopefuly they will look into it as i'm sure alot will be saying the same..👍⛳

For example, if you were 30 feet from the hole, the power meter may top out at 50 feet and you’d need start your follow through when the meter was three fifths full. If you were 3 feet from the hole, however, the meter may top out at 5 feet, which made for a slower moving power bar and thus made it easier to time and sink the putt. That makes sense when it comes to what should be easier putts. “PGA Tour 2K21” pegs every single putt to a maximum distance, which was almost always over 140 feet. That meant missing the proper spot on the putting meter by a small percentage (equivalent to just a fraction of a second) could send the ball screaming by the hole. And that’s on level ground. Catch a slope and the ball could settle further from the hole than you began.”
Yes, in the ‘super frustrated’ camp for putting. It’s terrible. You have to’ ‘jab’ at short putts... Immediate “flick FLICK”. The Wash Post review has it spot on. There should be some proportionality. Other golf games let you scale the putt meter to 100ft, 50ft, 20ft... so you can actually take a backswing and follow through. It’s really sad as I’ve enjoyed (first impressions) the other customizations you can make on chips, flops, full shots, draws/fades... actually very nice swing model. The putting is completely ‘broken’ relatively speaking. Lag putts seem almost reasonable... it’s inside 10’ you might end up being 20’ after trying to flick/flick your put. I’ve also missed a 1’ putt because I flick/flicked too fast. It’s really frustrating for me. Maybe we are being forced to buy putters with better forgiveness or something so the swing meter moves more slowly or something.
@@23michaelkevin Well they obviously they don't know how to move the marker which helps to a degree when putin you still have to be pretty acurate on your power' But if it's a 7ft putt and 3" up then move the marker to about 11 ft it will help ..
@@jimgem - if I'm reading the other's comments right, I have the same gripe. The putt meter moves waaaay too fast to reliably stop at 10 - 20 ft. "flick flick" and still 10% too hard. That totally throws off the rhythm compared to the rest of the swings. It really seems like the shorter putts should have the more natural slow pull.
Well if going by the other games TGC/TGC2 and 2019 the community courses have always been better' especialy from the top designers they seem to take more time and effort to release a really well polished course..👍⛳
@@jimgem I surely hope so also do you think that you will be able to have crowds on all of the imported courses I know you only had crowds if you placed them in the designed course itself. Lidar courses in 2019 alot of times didnt have the crowds i want to play with crowds all the time.... love watching your posts and hope we can play together tonight at some point I would be honored I have ps4
Thanks for the preview. Have they added the ability to adjust your ball position on the tee ? And is the flop shot distance more accurate ? Last one, a 24y flop shot could travel 30 yards + :) even from a poor lie ? I know, I'm jumping the gun a bit here ! Spin control looks great.
Not sure if iv'e used flop' yet' we now have a splash shot now aswel i hated using flop in 2019 i would leave myself a longer shot and go with pitch rather than flop shot..👍⛳
Tbh devs have been trying for years' I think it's so hard to emulate a golf swing with a controller' Over do it and it just becomes a gimmick' The way they have taylored this to have so many options to make the swing easier or more difficult is probably the best way to do it' Power bar on or off use the Haptice feedback on the controller to play a more feel based swing..👍⛳

No it was asked for but i don't think it is widely used anymore' Even as far back as TGC2 i remember some one asking for it' back then they where just a samll indi company and didn't have the resources to incorporate something like motion control' They have made a version for the sims but they cost a fortune..👍⛳
There are so many options for difficulty settings to have it as easy as you want or as hard as you want' Being a nood you can play Amatuer i think it is then work your way up' There are 6 difficulty presets..👍⛳
The timing/tempo is so tight now compared to 2019 there is very little in it from fast/perfect/slow' Just takes time and practice' I'm over 60 hrs in and still hitting fasts/slows👍⛳

You should play around on Legend, the reason they gave you the game early is to show it to folks not worry about your own player preferences or development.
@@jimgem the idea is to show how difficult it is, it doesn't matter if you can keep it in the fairway, your not supposed to shoot par.... just show us how it plays on the harder levels.
@@jimgem Also, try masters or legend, but change your clubs to the most forginving versions of the clubs and see how well you can hit. i'm not actualy trying to give you a hard time, i just think it would be better if the foks who wre given the game actually showed us more variance, rather than just playing what they feel comfortable playing.

This game would be alot better if we were able to spin the ball while in air like the old tiger woods games... This is the one feature ive truely missed since LIKE PGA tour 2005 ... Thia one mechanuc would change this game immensely for me

@@mikecox3382 - Got to agree with you there. At least with having the boost or spin in the air ability, you maintained interest throughout the shot. Now it's "hit and get me to the ball stop" because there's nothing else to do. In real life, this IS interesting, but in a video game you play repeatedly for hours, it get's old. Would have been nice if they had considered some form of arcade mode, but I imagine giving the masses something like that would have annoyed the purists too much.
Yes, you can go all the way through this stuff and you know what it doesn't matter WHY you say, well ill tell you why it's because the swing tempo in this game particularly on the Xbox is random so you wasted all your time learning the game. You can't get better at the game at higher levels such as the PRO mode. The tempo is broke so bad much worse than TGC19, anybody tell you any different is lying too you.
Well i'm playing on pro mode and i can usualy tell if iv'e hit a fast/slow but if people can't get the tempo straight away then the game has to be broken and has nothing to do with their own timing..🙈👍
@@jimgem Mate, I have been playing golf games for over 20y now, it's got nothing to do with wanting to hit bombs 350y straight down the fairway, it's ALL to do with the swing being RANDOM, people have proven the swing is random by using scripts to prove this so please don't tell me I want something straight away and I'm not prepared to work for my swing simply not true.
Have to agree here. I was playing Master on TGC and played alright. I’ve worked my way up to Master on 2K and I’ll probably hit 3 or 4 perfect tempo swings per round. The difference between pro and master is ridiculous.
I have to say, I absolutely HATE the swing mechanics in "The Golf Club" series. I started on PS4 and was able to get it with the controller, although it was way harder than it needed to be. I recently bought "The Club 2019" on PC and the Mouse Keyboard controls are even harder. Is it too much to ask for a "classic" swing mode for the old "3 click" swing? Is this an innovation that anyone even asked for?
that putting distance aid ruins the game....hate it...hate it. you had the best putting of any golf game ever. way to ruin feel. yes i know you can likely turn it off. but why in the hell have it on by default....

Yeah, its sooooooooo much trouble to take 1/2 of a millisecond to turn off the aid, Mr perfect. I bet you really suck at the game and you really play with all aids on easy mode. Lol
@@SirGreenDay im a plus 4 with barely playing without any aids on 2019. just dont want another too easy golf game...also it was the only golf game since microsoft links on xbox that had feel to the putting....why ruin it for people that suck at games...its not like it was super difficult. just took some practice. its not about turning it off. its about playing against friends that now want to play the default on cause they suck, taking the fun out of a game that was a game for gamers and golfers....now its more for golfers that suck at gaming.....
