@Speed Pharmacology, Hello, I apologize for commenting 4 years too late but I just read a recent study where the tolerance of benzodiazepines regarding anxiolytics is inconclusive compared to tolerance of sedation and anti-convulsive properties. In other words, long term usage of benzodiazepines had insomniacs increase their dosage to get the same effect, same with seizures, however regarding anxiety, it still was effective at that dose even after long term usage. Have you heard of anything like this?

ahhh personal subject. I got hooked on benzos in 93, I had a friend who was in a naval pharmacy. He stole and sold several types oxapam, Xanax restoril halcion and valium 100$ for 100 pills I took about 900 pills in a few months. In the end I just down the pills like candy. These made me insane. Halcion was really weird, I loved them they gave me energy and enthusiasm Later on 2018, I figured out where to get old barbiturates, I'll just say occasionally an old pharmacy building gets cleared, in storage is many bottles of drugs, I had unopened bottle of secanol amobarbital pheno, barbital butisol cyclo and delvinal, Miltown and amo, dextro speed Speed great Miltown was garbage.maybe it was bad I Never been that wasted, once on seco and pheno I went in to black out, I can not remember 16 days Falling memory blossom and unable to figure out anything, like light switch or remote, dump drinks because you don't know where your mouth is 1 ate 90 1.5 grain pheno but lived. I have been strung out on both Barbs Will kill you

I used benzodiazepines as sedatives for years what will happen is they will become a bigger problem than the reason why you started using them in the first place. If you are using benzodiazepines occasionally and not as a nightly or daily medication . Be careful know the drug you take by taking with your pharmacist who is a chemist 🧪 and knows the effects of medication. Do not tell him why you are taking it this might cause him her to be One sided with what they are telling you. If you ask about a drug that will be the information they give you based on your question and not usage of your medication . Benzodiazepines are 60 times worse than heroin to withdraw from your first month every gram of fat on your body will be eaten to get the drugs out of it then you start withdrawals and it sucks and you may not be capable of working or functioning normally in society . This does not last forever. You need to eat right and not abuse yourself. I know drug addicts and addiction. When a drug addict stops using drugs what happens is your body is trying to heal and you will find that you have more health issues than you believed you had. When you are poisoning your body on a daily basis your body is fighting for your life and is focused on the abuse it is receiving. Once your body realizes that it is not being poisoned daily it will now focus on other problems. As a person who spit my teeth out and tore muscles right off the bone 🦴 because they said they can not help me but I convince them otherwise after the physical damage that was occurring. With benzodiazepines do your research know what you were doing do not rely on anybody else to tell you as well speak with people who have honestly been through it and not pimping a narrative .

A very little known fact is that benzos are actually even more dangerous to quit than opiates like heroine and fentynal. It’s literally the most dangerous class of drugs to quit. I’m not exactly sure why but it kills lots of people who go cold turkey

What phrases can I use to research why Barbiturates have an extreme stimulatory effect on me (think aggressive drunken sailor on speed for many hours). I’m trying to understand how to gain support from a medical system where a majority of drugs cause an opposite intended primary &/or secondary effect. Beyond the redhead gene, and simple allometrics, there must be more useful keywords for me to use in my (as yet) epic blind research. - grateful for any useful insights & references.

My personal (non-medical professional) opinion is that; society shouldn't have banned GHB as a sleep aid. Prescribing hypnotics doesn't seem to provide deep REM 2 sleep in the same way that GHB did for those with sleep issues. I would love to hear your thoughts on this. :)

Most z-drugs do, in fact have considerable anxiolytic properties. I think that’s also why they are so disinhibiting. You can’t bind to the literal benzodiazepine site as an agonist without producing diminished panic and anxiety.

Great video on a really important topic. They're really useful drugs medically but the risk of dependency and addiction is not to be underestimate. The difference in mechanism behind benzos and barbiturates has profound implications on the risk of overdose too (hence why barbiturates are barely ever used nowadays). If you're interest in drugs and mental health then check out my channel Mental Health with Dr Elliott. Keep up the good work!

The science of benzos is GABA receptor down regulation of the CNS, GI tract, brain, and muscles meaning that natural fight or flight responses are dulled causing people to experience more anxiety, increased panic attacks, more insomnia, increased PTSD symptoms, benzo rage episodes, suicidal ideation, digestive system problems, muscle issues, plus increased eating disorder thoughts and behaviors. The FDA states that physical and psychological dependence on a benzo is not the same as drug addiction. Dependence occurs within a few weeks to a benzodiazapine. Dr.s do not advise patients of the real side effects. The Ashton Manual explains what benzos really do. Tolerance withdrawals occur when taking a benzo as prescribed but the patient experiences worsening panic attacks or other symptoms previously listed. Sadly patients are prescribed higher doses of a benzo when they are in tolerance withdrawals which only causes more issues with the CNS, GI tract, brain, and muscles. Facebook has support groups for individuals who want to safely taper off of benzos. Detox centers treat benzos as opioids. Opioids affect opioid receptors which take weeks to months to taper. Benzos can take months to years to taper. Withdrawal symptoms often happen even after completely off of the benzo for months to years. Research which receptors each Rx drug affects for yourself. Benzos should only be used for seizure disorders. Prescribing benzos for anything other than that is medical negligence. A pharmacist of 25 years states that benzodiazapines can cause neurological damage that can be accidentally diagnosed as ALS, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and Alzheimer's disease. #worldbenzoday #wbadrocks

Amazing vedio ,it useful alot. I have one doubt sir, that is alpha 2 containing gaba _ A receptors whether these are responsible to produce anxiety or to depress the anxiety.

Still don't get it... how these drugs cause dependence? I'm taking them since 7 years regularly, but if I don't take them for several weeks, I don't feel any change, I don't miss any of them. I use them for my insomnia, I can sleep better with them (since my childhood it's difficult for me to sleep). I know a few people who use Alprazolam the same way like me: sometimes they take them, sometimes they don't. but we all never get mad for this stuff...

Your a diamond in the rough. Some people can stop with zero withdrawal. I stop and withdrawal within 3 days. Even when tapering I have some withdrawal symptoms. I believe 40% of people can stop and have no withdrawal. Feel lucky!

Got prescribed Zolpidem for chronic insomnia. Since my brain hates me and won’t let me sleep. Some of the more odd side effects are as follows: getting into bed to go to sleep, and not falling asleep. This will then lead to a blackout that you will not remember, where you will say incoherent gibberish, appear so drunk that police would estimate your bac to be around .35 and gallivanting around the world in this cognitive state in your bathrobe and pajamas. This will conclude when your family member or local authorities, take you to bed located in either your home, a jail cell, or a hospital. You will then be awoken to the consequences of your actions during this period of hypo lucidity. This can range from: being told to go to sleep after being caught playing fetch with your dogs, in the backyard, in a bathrobe, at 5:30 am in the dead of winter; to being charged with 2nd degree murder. User experience may vary.
