Obviously the sun can be seen from either pole, so why would you expect the moon to be any different?

Yes, you can use it in your class. The moon's phases are created the same way. The moon's position and orientation is just different depending where you're located. YOu don't hear people on the equator complaining, nor those in northern Sweden.
