Hey everyone,
Back again for Phattdate #2 :)
Today I'm installing a Helix DSP Pro MK2 into a 2012 Ford Focus. There is also a bluetooth HEC streaming module to in in too, so time to pull apart a brand new processor hehe :)
Customer was absolutely blown away and will be coming back for a big sub stage update soon so stay tuned ;)

First time I've ever seen any of your stuff chasing a video on the v8 MKII and I was hoping you wrew in Melbourne incase I end up not bothering to do my own stuff myself and boom, in Melbourne. I'm in tassie but don't trust anyone here to do a good enough job or autobarn to touch my car lmao. I like the guys there but I'd do it myself before give it to them they aren't specialised enough for modern vehicle installs with oem integration. You seem like my sorta weirdo and good dude. 😂 😂. If I I decide to not destroy my own car you will likely be hearing from me soon incase you have a long wait list .mean time I'll go check out some more stuff. Cheers bud.

After pairing using the ATF software, when it connects to a Bluetooth source it automatically will switch from high/low level input? No director needed?

Correct! It's in the priority set up of the Bluetooth. You can adjust at what level it cuts at, and how long it takes to switch 🙂

Ive seen a wifi module for this dsp. Does this do the same function as the bluetooth mod?

There is a Helix Wifi module but it is only for control through phone for presets and settings. Also it isn't compatible with the DSP PRO MK2, it's only compatible with the newer ACO platform DSP's

Nothing wrong with it he was just after something with more features and expansion. As this is 10 channel and he plans for a big build with it 🙂

Can you stream music directly to director via BT?

It doesn't stream to the director, it streams directly to the processor itself providing it has the Bluetooth module installed 🙂

Hopefully it doesn't end up getting water intrusion from a clogged evap drain tube or a loose vapor barrier. I would have mounted it somewhere higher up.

@Mr_BUSINESS_24_7 In my personal experience, this has not been an issue. This one has been installed in the car for over 4 years with no issues 🙂 As you can see in the video, this replaced a dsp in the same location, and the customer did not want to pay for a complete relocation, so this was the solution 🙂

@@wickswirescaraudioandfabri7730 me personally. I would have put it between the rear seat cushion and the floor where the carpet is vertical. So basically behind the calfs of a person sitting in the rear seat. 🤷🏼‍♂️ but I understand what you're saying.

It was good, but there are a lot more features and functionality with the Helix line of processors in comparison 🙂

The Helix definitely has more tuning capabilities that the DM810

If downloaded the helix software on my pc It looks nice and indeed it has more setting options but is it worth the upgrade That’s the question 🤔

what about heat dissipation for that unit???? that unit runs pretty hot. I would NOT call that proper installation, not considering heat dissipation. That will shorten the life of the unit.

These dsp's don't heat up very much regardless. I have run them in tight situations many times with 0 issues. This one has more than enough surface area exposed for the cooling to be sufficient, and has not missed a beat since it's installation. Customer is still over the moon with it 🙂

@@wickswirescaraudioandfabri7730 ...so over 43 degree Celsius (over 100F!) is not hot enough!? And that without any processing power; just standby.. Did you check the temperature control before and after install? Come on.. It is OK TO ADMIT you did not consider anything like heat dissipation. ..Or all of us should do what you did!?! (How is it BETTER?) Sorry, I am not the king of person to brush people...

cutting the carpet to mount an dsp really?? I would be so pissed if that were my car. The carpet acts as a noise barrier as well and you just ruined it...im sure there was a much better spot for it.

Yeah there are definitely other places it could have gone but this is what the customer had asked for, and was completely fine with cutting the carpet. The carpet stayed in there, I only removed the underlay and added sound deadening under the dsp 🙂

And NOT consideration for heat dissipation!! he cut corner.. on this one. I am seriously thinking to add a small 12V fan driven by a 5 volt jellybean power supply and a new perforated plate ( ...spacers at the bottom of the unit for the air to come out, fitted to another back flat plate; then, that plate to whatever suits) to let the heat out.. For the money we pay for that unit it is worth every cold breeze to blow over that unit, BUT HE SINK IT!
