I know that Phil has retired from performing due to health issues. But I wish he could go into the studio, sit down at a piano and record an album of unplugged songs. No back up musicians, no live audience, just him at a piano. I think that would be a best selling album for him.
Great version! It doesn't look like the Prince's Trust to me, though. Dare I say, for whatever reason, it also sounds like he performed it (wonderfully) beforehand and then mimed it on that TV stage. Sound issue with the TV studios, maybe?
This 'performance' is fake, sadly; Phil is just lip-synching to the modified vocal track. The Beyerdynamic M88 mic, which he used throughout the '80s, is a wired mic, but notice that there's no XLR cable attached and wrapped around the boom part of the stand. Still, a good song.
@@Delphi333 Face Value and Hello, I Must Be Going! were both about his first divorce. They were released in 1981 and 1982 respectively, with the former being his debut solo album.
