I'm a 60 year old guy from the UK and I just love watching people younger than me discovering when artists and music from my youth were real!

I'm 45, but I feel the same. One of my favorite things is watching people watch Phil Collins live who never knew he was a drummer. There's always a moment of "wait...what?! Am I in the Twilight Zone?" that is absolutely priceless. I'm kind of in that sweet spot with Phil's music where I loved it as a kid as he was releasing it, but was also young enough to miss the divorce shenanigans.

This is rock and roll. Full stop. No fireworks, no dancers, no twerking. Pure talent. And, this is live. And the thing about rock and roll, the groups sound the same live, in concert, as they do on the records. Phil Collins is a master! And, he is a pretty nice guy, true rockers do not take the adulations that seriously. There is no rock anymore. times change, of course. But the genre has pretty much gone by the wayside. Not surprising, music does evolve. But, I like that younger gens are willing to listen to music outside their comfort zone, and finding out, hey! Old guys were pretty good!

I'm old enough to remember when live performances just didn't measure up to the studio versions. That started changing in the mid-70's in my personal opinion. Of course people went to live concerts anyway for the vibe as well.

He was also an extra in the Beatles "A Hard Day's Night" film). He joined Genesis as drummer and background vocals in 1970 and became their lead singer/drummer in 1976. My favorite version of this song. That intense stare, the great tonal control while he's walking around, and then to sit down at the kit and start pounding out the rhythm and still nailing the pitch of his voice! Great choice!

Now you can appreciate Phil's talent in this song after seeing it performed so brilliantly live. Those of us who grew up on Genesis (where Phil was a member with Mike Rutherford & Peter Gabriel) and Phil as a solo artist know his music genius. It was really enjoyable seeing your reaction to this song with the visual aid of a live performance to appreciate how good this song is.

Did you really not know that the Great Phil Collins could bang out on the drums like this? He is probably one of the greatest performers of all time. He definitely has one of the best singing voices there is to this date. Phil Collins is the man!

Genesis was huge. Then he went solo. Miami Vice was the show that made this song epic. That was mid 80s. His slow entry is so cool. Most don’t know he’s the drummer. It’s so cool to see young people react to him being so cool! By the way I love his music. Picture a fast car, at night, driving along the Miami coast road going to bust drug dealers. This song plays in the scene. Epic!!!

He also was lead in a pretty good movie called 'Buster' about the great British train robbery in the 60s. It is a love story. Both the movie and Phil performance is worth catching.

In the air tonight is such a great song by itself, but this version takes it to a whole different level. If you didn’t know, now you know! He was an incredible drummer for Genesis before they forced him to take over the vocals. He got to show it off regularly in his solo tours and surprised so many people with how good he was

The song is deeply personal to him, so he was always able to capture the raw emotion perfectly. He wrote it about the affair his then-wife was having and the man she was having it with.

Omg I would kill, maime, lie, hell, I’d even push an old lady down (jk😈😉) just to have the chance to see him live!! I know the thought of actually pushing an old lady down is horrible but I feel like she would understand once I explained my situation…lol and yes this song would be the most anticipated, but I grew up listening to him and I can’t name a single song that I didn’t love!! So, in conclusion, I kinda hate that it was you that got to see him and not me but at least…wait, no sorry scratch that,, yea dude, I’m definitely hating on you😅🤪🤘🏻

I'm 77 years old. I love watching you discover & appreciate all the fabulous music I've been listening to all my life. Just an FYI, near the start of the video, the camera pans by a gentleman with long white hair & beard. That was Leland Sklar, bassist & session musician who was legendary in the business. He can be heard on well over 2,000 albums from many genres plus movie & TV soundtracks. He died last year at 76.
