I have watched a half dozen drum covers of this song, and yours is by far the best. Your timing is exact. You would think it is Phil himself drumming. AWESOME.
I’ve been obsessed with this tune, the Chester Thompson cam angle is one of the greatest musical insights on RU-vid this is a fantastic tutorial to begin the journey to chip away at this tune, well played! when Leland Sklar is part of the music, you know you are at the upper echelon,
You are an amazing drummer. My son with autism has started with a drum kit the past year, and watching you play Inside Out (a song I love) made me realize this is in his wheelhouse of playing. I can't wait to see his drum instructor tonight!!
This is oh so good. You've got the "Phil" fill down that I could never figure out, the same one that starts "I Missed Again". A little slight-of-hand with press rolls and right-left trickery.
Fantastic job Vincent! I don't care what people today say about Phil, he is, and will always be, one of the best musicians of all-time. Keep up the great work!
+Vincent Sondermeijer I dig it too when some one else appreciates , really appreciates the greatness of Phil's drumming... BEST DRUMMER EVER.. imo. You did a great job. .. please post some more , maybe " I don't care any more" that is a great song for drums. Either way , just put more vids . out . You are a good drummer and playing along with Phil , I am jealous. (doesn't play drums). Good Job.
Correctly said amigo. Phil just seems to inspire (fellow drummers ) to go out there and make a name for yourself. Hey man if you get time do check out my Drum covers on my RU-vid profile. If you like some of the videos do give a thumbs up ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6BpDFQOLJ0o.html
Absolutely, the different camera angles of this tune from his 1990 show is absolutely one of the best. Phils versatility on keyboards is highlighted as well as the talents of Chester Thompson, Darell Stermer Leland Sklar, etc.
I'm in a Genesis cover band called, "Afterglow." I have a huge drum kit for Phil covers. You've put me to shame on your 3 piece. Brilliant performance on a piece that is far more difficult than people know! Truly a magnificent job. I should sell half of my crap, lol! It's mostly for things like Firth of Fifth, Suppers Ready, and the like. Hell, you probably cover those on your snare and kick, lol.
Now that was awesome. Great job Vincent!! As someone who has just picked up the sticks recently after years of giving it lip service, your performance has inspired me to give it that extra effort. Can't go wrong trying to emulate Phil!
One Month later and Im still jamming with you man . I just started drumming last September and I hope to be where you are now . I have always loved this song and you have taken it to a new level for me . keep rockin man . If you are not already in a professional band then you should be seriously .
Steve Barker Wow, that's really great to hear man! I'm glad to be a source of inspiration to you :) And don't worry,if you're passionate about it, your drumming will definately go somewhere. Just remember not to focus exclusively on practicing technique and boring rudiments - those are important, but it's just as important to see who your favourite band/drummers are, and take a very close look at what those guys are doing. What are they playing, how are they playing it, when and why? Makes you a musical drummer, and that's way more important than being a flashy virtuoso monster. With the limited set of skills you learned from just a year of playing, you can still be an awesome drummer, as long as you apply your playing tastfully. Cheers!
Feeling and touch with meticulous attention to detail! An absolutely faithful cover of a truly great drummer: you should be proud of your skills . . . and your ear, because it's the latter that sets the great ones apart. Really enjoyed this vid (btw, you picked one of my very favorite Phil Collins sings: majestic!!!)
wow you sound just like him on the drums . Thats right on time and right on the money . Do your self a favor and continue drumming because you certainly have it down . wow excellent work man
I did a presentation in a speech class in college about the art of drumming. I included Phil Collins, Jon Bonham, and Travis Barker. I used the "no jacket required" album to represent Phil Collins. BTW spot on drumming !!(:
Well, besides RU-vid... Your own music library, I guess! Listening carefully to your favourite drummers teaches you a lot. Also, investing in a drum teacher would really be a good idea if you're serious about your drumming.
Fuckin awesome Buddy, your timing is dead on and tou have a very steady meter.Sounds exactly like the original soundtrack, me being a drummer myself I have watched this video and have picked up on helpful techniques keep Rockin!
LOL, on my wall, when i shared your video, i put that i had you and a guy with a 7 piece set to choose from, and you covered much better. AWESOME JOB YOUNG MAN !!!
+Kip Bonin LOL i just counted he actually has like a 9 piece set. and i know i have listened to your cover at least 5 times and have decided that TODAY you are gonna teach me how to play this song i love so much for so long. LOL i'll be 50 on Sunday. IMAGINE THAT (Pacemaker/Defibrillator and all)
Great job to a classic Genesis song! Your timing is beautiful and your fills sound like Phil and Chester’s! (That’s as high as the compliments come!!!). Thanks for sharing. Try other Phil tunes. 🥁
KH80 Inside Out was indeed a Genesis song that Phil took and added horns to for his solo concerts. He also did this with a few other Genesis songs like: Behind The Lines, Follow You Follow Me and Throwing It All Away. Mike Rutherford in his solo act (Mike And The Mechanics) also used some Genesis songs in his solo concerts. God Bless you.
This is not a Genesis song! In terms of live performances, The horn on the song was a brief sax solo just like the record version. This song is from No Jacket Required
Kelly Bezz, it’s NOT a Genesis song at all!!!! The Genesis hit called Inside and Out, edited in 1977...this one is called Inside Out and is just a Phil’s song, from No Jacket Required edit in 1985, his 3rd solo album. The ONLY Genesis song “used” in a Collins’s solo album is Behind the Lines in Face Value in 1981, riarranged and speeded up compared to the original edit in 1980 from Duke Album. Other Genesis songs (except Behind the Lines) played sometimes in live shows don’t count, ‘cause never edited as solo hit in a solo album.
Those are REMO heads on your tom toms correct? your floor toms are absolutely booming that set sounds amazing. I look forward to seeing you doing more covers I will be posting some of my covers shortly
+Josh Butterwick Yup, Remo Vintage Emperors. And as you may have noticed, for this video I removed the bottom heads from the toms, in kind of a low tech attempt to recreate a tiny bit of Phil's gated reverb sound on my crappy old set :P
amazing job on the cover, i love phil collins, brings back so many tarzan memories haha i have a music channel too you may enjoy, feel free to check it out
