l love me some Phil Jackson, he seem just so relaxed and calm. I just wish he could pass that same kind of energy over my way.....he did a excellent job as a coach..
Kobe is a wonderful, wonderful player!! The only fuse, I had with his game, was that he didn't dish to the open-man often. The way MJ played, he was able to create space for himself & his team-mates on the floor. Opposing teams knew that they had to focus on MJ, but they also knew that they couldn't leave the other Bulls teammates un-marked. With Kobe, other teams just knew that he'll just aim to score every possession. Both Great Players, no doubt. But MJ's intellect was by far superior!!!
what if I told you that you can like both Kobe and Jordan? what if I told you that you can prefer one of them without hating the other? what if I told you that Jordan respects Kobe and Kobe respects Jordan but both of them love to compete? what if I told you that the dream of any player is to be the best, even better than the one that inspires you the most?
His ability to talk to his teammate, bash them etc to get them in the game is just as said. He talks but that doesnt mean he actually was effective at making that happen. Mike has something about him, his personality, his will, etc that allowed him to effectively get his teammates in the game and involved, and he actually made them better.
Michael Jordan was asked by fans long after his retirement who would win out of himself and Kobe. He told that that right now, Kobe would win but if I were in my prime it wouldn't even be a contest!
If Kobe didnt understand team ball he probably would have been cut by the Lakers, actually he probably wouldnt have been drafted. he facilitates very well as a SG (actually the best in today's NBA). and if you ever watch laker games, Kobe is always talking and communicating with his players. people just say he "bashes" on his teammates because 1)he's straight forward and 2)there are more media outlets that spotlight those comments. But being straight forward is how a leader is supposed to be
Actually when Kobe was 20, him and T-Mac were doing some promotional stuff for a sneaker company in Germany. They played basketball together each day. And Kobe and T-Mac played 1 on 1 in three games. And Kobe won each.
The reason that MJ is not successful manager is because that, as the greatest player of all time, MJ thought something could be done effortlessly when most less talented player fight so hard to achieve.
You sure about that ? I think thats only Kobe's words,T-Mac had respond in twitter"LOL Hell no! That's far from the truth. No one in the NBA is playing 1 on 1. Me and KB never went to Germany together either..". However, in NBA games, even on all star weekend, T-Mac(orlando) has a better performance when he and Kobe were matching up. Kobe couldnt stop T-Mac 's pull up jumper and usually got blocked by T-Mac.
These are all observations made by a fan of the game. His credentials dont lie. Phil mentioned that Kobe has those characteristics but that doesn't mean they had a negative effect on his teammates. He took them to 7 NBA Finals, has 5 rings. W.E he did on the court was definitely effective. I don't see why ppl dont understand that. He's a winner and did make his teammates better. Ask Shaq, Gasol, Bynum, Fisher, Lamar, Ariza - whom all played very good if not better with Kobe.
In the NBA there is passing the torch from one generation to another. Just as Magic and Bird pass the torch to MJ and MJ pass it to Kobe. Then Kobe pass it to Lebron. There is a GOAT for every generation. A player that will stand up with everyone else. That is Bird Magic Kareem Dr. J MJ Kobe Shaq did with their respective generation.
Dr360Wave I hate the Goat conversations. Why can’t we just appreciate the beauty of the game. The game has evolved over time . If Jordan or Wilt played in this era, they would avg 60. Just respect them all because it’s very difficult to make it to the NBA.
They play pretty much the same and the difference is Kobe Bryant had better ball handling and getting by defenders he had the crossover and between the Legs and around the back Micheal Jordan had a bigger body build and was stronger and bigger hands so how he beat his defenders he’s used his body more and cleared his defenders by using his body and banging them out the way Kobe used ball handling and Micheal used his size and strength and his body
all kobe was is a 1v1 player mj was a great player himself and teamwork mj is the greatest player of all time and mj in his prime could of beat kobe michaels defense was incredible and he is stronger than kobe too
+PurpleMonkeyDishwasher I think he was talking about contested 3s. MJ hit ridiculous fadeaways and layups but he would never take a 3 pointer after he lost his dribble. It's the biggest reason why Kobe has a relatively lower fg%. Jordan would pass it off to get a handoff back into a good post position but Kobe would just jack it up even if he shoots 30% from that range.
Exactly. Kobe was a better shooter, but took some dumb shots. Sure, he made like 30% of those shots (most, if not all would shoot much lower), but that is not better than getting a high percentage shot like Michael did.
Kobe is a Genuine One on One Player!! Jordan is a Genuine One on One Player who understands how to operate in a team system. Jordan knows how & when to step up for the benefit of the team. Kobe doesn't!! MJ is a Genuine Leader, Kobe is not. Both a great players, but one sees the big picture for his team, the other sees the same picture, but just for himself. MJ is, by far, the superior intellect of the two, no doubt!!
Kyrie Rose i know that your comment was 3 months ago but Mj said that he would probably lose to kobe because kobe copy his move. Im sorry if my grammar is horrible
I wouldn't consider the Detroit "Bad Boy" Pistons, 80's Boston Celtics, the physical New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers and the very stacked Western Conference nobodys. MJ beat Magic in the Finals to capture his first championship. Also, there were still some greats in the league after Bird and Magic left.
Jalen Miles Hey moron, if kobe's skill is so much better than MJ's, then why can't he consistently go out and produce BETTER individual on-court RESULTS in the skilled facets of the game?!! Especially considering that he plays in an era with rules that FAVORS perimeter players?!! And for your information, MJ's Bulls beat "7" 60+ win teams in route to those 6 titles. That's MORE than Bird's Celtics, Magic's Lakers, Isiah's Pistons, and Shaq & kobe's Lakers COMBINED! And your dumb a** comment about him not winning titles until "all the other greats left", is about as ridiculous as it gets considering that: A) Bird was STILL in the league when he won his 1st 2 titles and B) he BEAT Isiah and Magic in the '91 playoffs in route to his 1st ring So go sit your dumb (and obviously young) a** down somewhere, and go educate yourself on the history of the game you f*ckin' idiot.. Man you Y2K fanboys are the DUMBEST of the DUMB...SMH
I was born in the 90s... not everyone is oblivious. Kobe was great Jordan was better but don’t say kobe was nothing to mj that’s gross. Kobe came and did what he did chasing Jordan and he’s content with his game and left. Why do y’all have to make it seem as if he’s garbage ? He’s the best thing since Michael at taking over the way mj did
