There is a real possibility to do something about this before the 2028 elections! It's called The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) and we would only need a handful more states to adopt it in order for it to go into effect. Basically many states have already agreed that they would pledge all their electoral votes to the winner of the NATIONAL popular vote!! But it won't go into effect until there are enough states on board that it adds up to 270 electoral votes. I just learned about it recently and I think more people ought to know!!

VP is just presiding, no power. 1/5th of house/senate needs to vote to contest a slate. slates have to be sent from the designated official in each state (fake slates have zero value anymore).. and more. Apparently they have already beefed up things at the building and I'm sure, even if things went awry, we wouldn't be waiting for Biden to authorize the NatGuard to assist and officers from DC, MD, and VA would be on Capitol grounds within the hour. The real worry this election is in bad faith election officials usurping power to delay counting, canvasing, or completing slates. Ideally those who try to disenfranchise voters would be arrested and replaced immediately.

I'm a PA voter and have always voted for Democrats. Every other year I never felt the need to try and convince others to vote for Democrats, but this year I have been using the skill of persuasion to try and flip voters to the Harris/Walz ticket. I was psyched when I got assurances from my two time Trump voting/Fox News watching parents that they will vote for Kamala this November.

Okay, i don't have any taxes on my SS benefits ya know because it's below the tax threshold. So yeah. Taxes on tips eh? So that hedge fund managers can call all their income tips and then not pay taxes on them. Yeah I see where that's going.
Trump would be all in on that loophole. Kamala, not so much. She has at least specify "service workers", but yeah, the proposed legislation has to have caps and likely won't affect most tip workers because they don't earn enough for it to matter. A better solution would be to require them to receive minimum wage regardless (not with employers filling it in if they don't make enough tips - just start at minimum wage).
I do get taxed on my SS benefits because I also have a pension and an IRA. Those taxes on SS benefits are keeping SS going without them SS would be out of money in 3 years instead of 10 years. Maybe with 10 years to work on fixing SS it can be done. With only 3 years to fix the problems, republicans can finally get rid of SS. Project 2025 calls for getting rid of SS and medicare. VOTE BLUE.
@@maplebones Taxless tips is very manageable. They manage taxable tips, don't they? With caps and guardrails it's fine, but people should know up front that it won't do much for most people who depend on tips because most of them don't pay much in taxes.. but it could help them so fine. Health care is an entirely different issue and isn't something where they can get one or the other.

I live in Florida, sadly I don't see this happening as much as I'd love for my state to at least become purple again at the minimum. The governor and legislature here have gerrymandered this state especially in Florida's blue wall of Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade Counties to the point that Republicans have a 3-1 and in some places a 4-1 advantage over Democrats. They also gutted the two strongest African American districts in the state when they had to re-district to align the House seats with 2020 census results. Florida has also seen a huge influx of very wealthy Republicans moving here trying to escape the big bad "commie" states of the Northeast. Abbott and the Texas legislature did something similar over the past several years with gerrymandering. The state with the best chance of flipping this time is North Carolina, they've been trending more purple, if Harris wins there she's got multiple very doable paths to 270 and Trump would then have to flip 4 states and get the Nebraska single district to get exactly 270. If Harris gets Pennsylvania and Michigan, it's over for Trump.

Most of them are very rural states with very few electoral votes. California has like 55 by itself, which is more than Montana, Idaho, North Dakota South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, and Alaska combined!

Harris may flip Florida and Texas as well. There were a majority of undecided votes who were impressed with Harris' policies who were polled today. Polls don't reflect young voters as they don't participate in polls, unless they support Trump.

Recent UNH polling of Maine's second district show Harris leading there by 5% (still within the margin of error)! I think it's funny you have light blue for states like Colorado, Oregon, and New Mexixo which are likely +7-10 or more for Harris but a state like Ohio or Texas which is the same amount towards Trump isn't light red
