Now now.... let's be realistic here I'm a Niners fan but... The Eagles defense from last year was way better than the one they have this year. They lost Hargrave to us and several other losses in the defense. It would've been closer than 42-19 but the Niners still would've won in my opinion
I’m a 49ers fan and you can’t say that for sure. Would it have been more competitive? Absolutely, but the Eagles are a great team. You have to give them their due. It felt personal after Eagles fans mocked Purdy’s injury though. If I was an Eagles fan I feel like I wouldn’t do that. I fully expect both teams to make the NFC championship, because they’re probably the two best teams in football.
I wouldn't called getting your ass kicked 42 to 19 as " a little bump up the road". More like getting served a big fat humble pie and reminding everybody that had Brock Purdy not gotten hurt last year, 49ers should have beaten the Eagles like 49ers did tonight and last year superbowl should have been 49ers vs KC.
As on outsider to both these teams I hate this sentiment. The Eagles were flat out better last year on defense and offense. The 49ers were worse last year. It's not a bad thing to admit. It was a rookie QB who made it to the playoffs, that alone is an accomplishment. I think the NFC woukdve been closer last year, but The Eagles still played better.
I'm a 49er fan living in Pennsylvania. I'm not a shit-talker and I'm always very respectful to fans of other teams. Eagles fans have not been respectful back to me since the NFC Championship game. Gloating with extreme arrogance and smugness while I have done nothing but give them props for being a really good team. This experience has turned me against Eagles fans completely. They've been like "sore winners" in a way that I have never experienced before as a sports fan. Normally I would be happy about a fanbase getting some humble pie, but I don't think many Eagles fans ever actually learn from stuff like this. It just makes them worse fans, and ultimately worse people.

I never expected the Niners to score 42 points against the 10 and one Eagles like that but thankfully we won against the best team in football and next week we’re gonna beat the Seahawks again and we’re gonna be 10 and three Sunday and Philadelphia will lose to Dallas and we will get the number one seed on Sunday

Niner Fan here. The Birds are legit. Tough loss. The Niners lost a regular season game to Philly 40-3 back-in-the-day and came back that season and won the Super Bowl.

We can say they’re playing down and then pulled away from all their opponents, but each week their defense was getting more exposed with the All-22 tape. The fans know it, which was why they keep asking when the offense will start firing on all cylinders to mask the defense’s defiency. The better question is: who will their next OC be? Because the current OC isn’t cutting it. Let’s hope it will be a great game next week against the Cowboys. Stats don’t matter when in comes to divisional games.

What does it matter? It gives the tie breaker to the 49ers, that's why it matters. Now they're pressured to win throughout because they have to end the season with a better record than the 49ers, not tied or worse. The 49ers can win it all whether their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd seed; but the Eagles must have that bye week and home field advantage in order to have a prayer at a rematch in the NFC Championship game. Dallas will lose at least a couple games in December, but Detroit may go on a run and compete for 1st or 2nd place as well. But regardless of the final placements, the 49ers are clearly the best overall team in the league!
