agree, today a win like that is treated like if they won the WS, I think baseball today is played by primadonna overpriced not so good players, no pitcher last no longer than 5 or 6 innings and they don't play our National Anthem on tv either..everything is less patriotic and boring!
This is baseball. Whatever game they're playing nowadays ain't as good as this. They played the game like they had some sense, not like the circus was in town today.
Murphy was as good of a role model. You could ever ask for regarding a pro athlete. He never promoted himself He never felt like he was bigger than.the game Its a shame Bob Horner was always on the DL for 40' games a year Him and Murphy were a dangerous duo People forget Murphy.could steal bases As good as any power hitter in.that era. Should be in.the HoF.
This was the last game I attended with my grandfather, who died less than six months later (at Christmas). Do you have the entire game? Thank you so much! I’ve never ever seen this since that night.
Dude, Imagine if Topps started inserting Chris Sabo Game Worn Glasses Redemptions in card packs. Kent "Superman" Tekulve Glasses. And the ultimate chase card.....The Rollie Fingers Auto....Mustache Clipping card.
@@staceybryant1475 Well, two rain delays, 19 innings, Rick Camp's 18th inning HR and fireworks after the game ended just before 4am. That's why I called it "Twilight Zone", because off all the strange and unusual events that July 4 (and 5)
@@SportsOdyssey2019 do you have this complete or most of this game, or others you have clips of, I'm a long time collector/trader, I have a large collection n would love to trade, what a great channel, I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Al
Nice little time capsule of two bad teams 8 years before they would play in 1993 NLCS. From the coverage the only two players that would still be around for that series, one from the Braves and one for the Phillies, were Milt Thompson and Larry Anderson who both played for the Phillies in 1993. Not sure how Thompson got to the Phillies but it might have been in the Dale Murphy deal a few years later. Larry Anderson had the unenviable task of replacing Phillies icon Richie Ashburn as Phillies color analyst in 1998. In my opinion Anderson and his radio partner Scott Franzke are the best radio team currently doing games in the MLB, even though Anderson has reduced his role and only does Phillies home games at this point.
Its a shame Atlanta didnt give murphy some better rosters to play on. HOF player on a perennial loser. Tim raines, Jack Morris, harold baines, alan Trammell are in HOF. I would take the murph over all of them. "especially baines and Morris". Never considered the best or even elite. Somehow made it in. Idk.
Hero? Philadelphias picture put a batting practice fastball about 85 mph write over the plate dead center....it's very possible the pitcher gave the game away on purpose...it don't look right
